Looks nice, except if you recall one of the original requirements was 
"FOSS".  I'll be sure to give it a whirl when they release the source 
under an open source licence :)

In the meantime, Notepad++ it is.  I'll be having some 30 non-technical 
youngsters using that for creating C++ programs, so expect feedback 
(here or directly to the developers) when they run into editor issues!

I happily used Jext[1] and jEdit[2] during my M$ days on a box with 256 MiB
RAM. jEdit has great community, large no. of addons, super-extensible. IIRC,
Jext is not maintained anymore.

And both being implemented in Java desktop technologies, which you means you
can debug^Wrun them anywhere.

Most of the non-emacs/vim folks I know use either Notepad2 or Notepad++.
