2.6.9 onwards..? Don't know about older kernels. I got it working on
Debian, FC3, and FC4. Never tried on other distros.

Acer 5002 series running on a 2.6.12 kernel.
The 5000 series has a problem I think... Not all acer laptops, mea culpa.

Did you try running any live CD version?

Yup, I have tried various distros. I have installed Knoppix 4. I have tried
FC4, OpenSuse, Mandriva 2006, SimplyMepis, Ubuntu, and other live distros
(EduMorphix etc).

Hi,

Can anyone plz helpout with Linpus version of linux. I need to chk the
battery backup of my Laptop in this version, but due to absence of a gui
i'm unable to, can anyone suggest some coomand that'll enable me to see the
 details about the battery.

Linpus is a a very minimalistic version of gnu/linux shipped with acer
laptops. I suggest that you replace it with a mainline distro like Mandriva
or something.

However, Acer laptops have problems regarding acpi. There is an kernel patch
called acer_acpi, but I could not get it working. So you won't be able to
check out the battery status. If you do get it working, please let me know.

Why Linpus? I'd dump it in favour of other more main line distors.

cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state
Will give what you are looking for if acpi is up and running. Also
check state and alarm in the same directory. and look at other
informations available in /proc/acpi directory. Have fun.
