But if I send an e-mail whit an attachment bigger than 80K or with

Re: [imp] How to disable spam folder?

2021-03-17 Thread Jan Schneider

Zitat von Leonardo :

Hi,

I tryed to find a configuration to disable autorcreation of spam
folder and all spam fetures

in IMP.

To disable all feature I puted the lines below in imp/config/pref.local.php:

$_prefs['*spam*select']['advanced']=false;
$_prefs['*spam*_folder']['advanced']=false;
$_prefs['delete_*spam*_after_report']['advanced']=true;
$_prefs['empty_*spam*_menu']['advanced']=true;
$_prefs['purge_*spam*_interval']['advanced']=true;
$_prefs['purge_*spam*_keep']['advanced']=true;
$prefGroups['*spam*report']=false;

Instead to try to prevent autocreation of spam folder I tried to use:

$_prefs['*spam*_folder']['value']=null;
$_prefs['*spam*_folder']['locked']=true;

This looks correct.

but it doesn't work and I get an error on login tasks notifications.

Which error?

The only option I found is to edit the file
imp/lib/Mailbox/SessionCache.php removing
IMP_Mailbox::SPECIAL_SPAM from the array in getSpecialMailboxes
function but I would

like to avoid any code changes.

Are there any configuration alternatives?

Thanks

Running Debian 10.6 with the standard packages.

FWIW, searching the large mailboxes in Subject, or Recipient etc.

I have a newly installed setup with Horde 5.2.21, working really
well, on CentOS8 with PHP7.4 from Remi. So much faster than the old
VM (CentOS6 with PHP5.6)!

Anyway, only one issue so far - doing Imp Advanced Searches with a
broad search (e.g. Entire Message, all mailboxes, 4 letter string)
I am getting timeouts (backend is off-server to a local Cyrus IMAP
server). A narrower search works fine, so something is timing out.
These searches would work OK on the old server.

Would they be hitting the same cyrus server, and also not running on
the same host?

Horde logs:
2020-01-22T18:57:10+10:00 WARN: HORDE [imp] [search] Error when
communicating with the mail server. [pid 4722 on line 730 of
"/var/www/horde/imp/lib/Imap.php"]

I notice that in backends.php there is a timeout option available,
but the documentation indicates that this only applies to the SMTP
option. True enough, having a guess and setting
$servers['imap']['timeout'] = 120; doesn't help...

This would be the correct setting for the timeout, assuming 'imap'
is the correct server stanza for your configuration. FWIW, the
description is listed in the header of the backends.php file, but
it's the very last option, I missed it the first time I looked too ;)

Are you sure the issue was a timeout on the IMAP server?

Can anyone point me at where or if I can set a longer IMAP timeout?
Or if there is something else I am missing - a PHP-FPM timeout
accessing IMAP? Php.ini max_execution_time = 30?

A possibility, sure. How long did the searches take on your old system?

Or is this just something I need to improve on the Cyrus box - squatter?

If your question is whether to use squatter, then definitely: yes!

Any ideas would be helpful.

Anything of interest on the cyrus server logs? You can also activate
imap debug logging in backends.php to log the IMAP conversation so
we can see if there is anything weird going on there.

Thanks
Simon

Hi,

How can I download Sent emails with POP3?

You can't, because POP3 doesn't support folders.

Until now, the only way I've found out, that works, is manually
selecting and moving the emails to the Inbox.
And then use and email client to download it (I'm using Thunderbird).

I really don't want to use IMAP.

Is there a way to achieve this configuring Horde/Imp or Exim?

I have been trying to identify something they have in common, but
thus far have not. One handy aspect of this issue is that *I* have
the problem and thus can replicate it. The support person for this
system, however, does not have the problem, and thus spent some time
very confused about some calls he was receiving before first
reporting it.

I have ruled out browser version -- have tried Chrome, Explorer,
Firefox, all have the problem.

I have ruled out reverse dns.

Note that I am only human, and thus might have overlooked something.
I would be happy to hear any suggestion about something that would
cause this problem in message.php (and only message.php), even if
it's something I thought I had ruled out.

admittedly a very old version of horde imp. Still, the server has
been there unchanged for a few years. A strange problem has
developed in one aspect of horde imp in the last couple of months,
though.

Everything about the server is fine, except that some users (not
all) are having a problem when it comes to clicking on a message in
the inbox and opening it. Opening the message takes almost exactly
(I have timed it with a stopwatch many times) 77 seconds to open.
Every other aspect of the horde server works fine and responds
immediately.

I have tried calling the horde imp webmail interface through both
ssl and non ssl versions. Both have the same problem. We have a
squirrelmail webmail interface that works with the same imap
server. It does not have this problem. We have other imap
interfaces that work fine. The problem is just some users of the
horde imp software, and specifically only with calling message.php
through horde.

I have put wireshark on the browser system and watched the
communication. The get request for message.php is sent immediately
by the server when the link is clicked in the inbox. The server
acks the response, but the get request does not show up in the
webserver logs. Then, for 77 seconds, nothing apparently happens on
either the client or server side (except for the sidebar.php
refreshes, which work fine through this whole process). Then, 77
seconds later, the get request appears in the webserver log, is
responded to immediately, and the message appears in the browser
interface.

I have been going through every timeout I can find, php.ini, ssl,
the horde imp configuaration, nothing makes any difference. The
webserver seems to be processing *something* in message.php, timing
out, and then going ahead and sending the message.

At this point I would be happy to hear any ideas someone might have.

I’ve set php to E_ALL for logging, nothing appears in the webserver
access or error logs beyond the http exchange.

Re: [imp] Imp issuing improper "SORT" command at login?

2019-02-25 Thread Jan Schneider

Zitat von James Noyes :

On 2/24/19, 15:56, Michael J Rubinsky wrote:

Yes. RFC 6855 [3], and further clarified in Errata 4029:

Once an IMAP client has enabled UTF-8 support with the "ENABLE
UTF8=ACCEPT" command, it MUST NOT issue a "SEARCH" command that
contains a charset specification. If an IMAP server receives such a
"SEARCH" command in that situation, it SHOULD reject the command with
a "BAD" response (due to the conflicting charset labels). This also
applies to any IMAP command or extension that includes an optional
charset label and associated strings in the command arguments,
including the MULTISEARCH extension. For commands with a mandatory
charset field, such as SORT and THREAD, servers SHOULD reject charset
values other than UTF-8 with a “BAD” response (due to the conflicting
   charset labels).

Ok, this clarifies that SEARCH with a charset should be rejected,
but only SEARCH or other commands that "include an optional charset
label".
SORT and THREAD do not include an *optional* charset label, they
include a *mandatory* charset label.
The final sentence addresses SORT and THREAD specifically. They
still need have the charset specified (because it is still
mandatory), this just clarifies that it shouldn't be any value other
than UTF-8 and risks rejection/BAD if it is.

Yes?

That's how I understand it too.

We're lacking sufficient feedback to verify how stable Horde works on PHP 7.3.
But you can of course contribute to the 7.3 compatibility by letting
us know what exactly doesn't work anymore after the upgrade.
Especially actual error messages, if possible with a backtrace would
be helpful.

mirrored here https://i.imgur.com/ubRyIY6.png
you can see why one of our customers thought we were about to close
their email account, and why they would send back their password to
the "Email Administrator".

I did see the email address is shown when I move my mouse on the
text, but my customer was not aware of this feature.

Can I change a setting so that IMP will show the email address of
the sender next to the text?

(Next to "Email Administrator" in my case.)

No, such a setting doesn't exist.

Re: [imp] : change charset

2018-11-30 Thread Jan Schneider

Zitat von Carsten :

Hi team,

If I sent mails to my hylafax server (using wegfrontend or
thunderbird) I have issues with the encoding / charset.

Special characters are always UTF-8 encoded, but are not properly
decoded on the fax interface.

I figured out, that changing the encoding in thunderbird to
"Mitteleuropäisch (Windows)" which should become "charset=SO 8859-1"
solves the issue from thunderbird as sending client.

But for some reason I have to do this every time, I create a new mail item.

Now I try to figure out, how to set this the web front end of
Horde/IMP as a "default" value.

I found some older posts about "nls.php" a.s.o. but they all say,
that there was no final solution.

I would expect to have some file like
"./horde/imp/config/backends.d/mycharset.php"
at the end, but I need some advice on this.

Can You help?

br
Carsten

Such a setting has been removed. Any system working with email
messages that doesn't support UTF-8 in 2018 should be taken off any
network connection as soon as possible.

This is because the HTML editor that we use in IMP at the moment

For example:
- same settings for Horde dashboard

and so on

Do I have solution to make this settings once, like a template sort

If there are some ini files where can I setup this defaults, can

No, you change this in the config/prefs.local.php files.

Re: [imp] IDN support for horde / imp auth login.

2018-09-12 Thread Jan Schneider

Zitat von i...@interpost.biz:

Hello, running debian stretch repo horde (5.1.17) webmail edition
with dovecot and postfix, apache 2.4 and mariadb 10.3, php 7.2:   we
cannot login to horde (authenticating over ssl to imp) with the IDN,
but must use punycode.  I have configured dovecot to accept the
accented characters contained in the mail domains, and this doesn't
help.  Roundcube allows us to do login using the IDN  (i.e.
info@cuvé.com) , so I don't think the error is with dovecot.

Does horde authenticating through imp support IDN's fully?  If not,
is there a specific sanitizer or validator that I could change in
the imp auth process to allow accented characters? Or a library to
be used. We aren't using mbstring to do any conversion as this is
very problematic with other applications, and since roundcube works
natively, it shouldn't be necessary.

Is anyone successfully using horde + imp with IDN logins?  How?

Thanks,

 Ed

Horde does not support IDN logins at the moment, only for email messages.

Exporting mailboxes currently requires the complete data to stay in

Re: [imp] HTML email replies badly formatted

2018-03-08 Thread Jan Schneider

Zitat von John H. Bennett III :

Hello all,

I get a lot of html email, and I have my preference set to reply
using the same format as the original message.  When I go to reply
to these emails with imp, the reply is badly formatted.  There are
multiple line breaks everywhere within the response, and I have to
actually edit the original email to make it not look so slopy and
unprofessional.

This doesn't happen in Outlook or Thunderbird, so I'm pretty certain
it's in the way imp is interpreting the message, but I don't have
any real way to prove that other than what I see in how the email
response is formatted.  Has anyone found a fix or permanent
workaround for this?  How else are others dealing with it?  I had
seen a suggestion a while back in the archives, but that suggestion
would then be broken upon the new code upgrade.  I had tested this a
while back with the GIT checkout I had, and saw the same behavior.

Thank you in advance,

John

Re: [imp] Email redirects to remote addresses do not work.

2018-02-22 Thread Jan Schneider

Zitat von zyrixx :

Hello dear Horder User, I have tied Horde to a mail server
(Postfix), which acts as a smart host. As soon as I forward mails to
internal users, that's no problem.

But if I use an address that does not exist on the mail system, the
mail server is instructed to send the mail via the recipient's Smtp
server.

This makes no sense, because you can send mail to all remote
addresses, always using the deposited Smtp server of the sender. Can
it be that Horde passes the redirects wrong?

This doesn't have anything to do with Horde. It's about your Postfix
configuration.

Re: [imp] Trouble with email addresses containing empty domain labels

2018-02-16 Thread Jan Schneider

Jens Wahnes wrote:

Jan Schneider wrote:

in Horde_Idna 1.1.0 and displayed smarter in IMP 6.2.18.

I looked into this again today. Even though I have got the new versions
installed (both Horde_Idna 1.1.0 and IMP 6.2.18), I still seem to get
the same error, i.e. no warning when sending an email to an address like
f...@example..com and the mail is actually being sent to "foo" without
any domain. Are there any other dependencies that I may have missed?

I can see this working on demo.horde.org, i.e. trying to send an
email to "f...@example..com" from demo.horde.org is aborted with an
error message.  Still, this does not happen in our setup.  On our
systems, the email is being sent to the "localpart only" address
instead.  Is nobody else having this problem?

Looking for things that are unique to our setup, I thought that
this might be because we use a "pre_sent" hook to add headers to
outgoing email messages, but even when disabling that hook, the
problem persists.   I don't seem to be getting any hint from the
log files neither.  So I'm running out of clues what part of our
configuration might be causing the trouble.  Maybe someone has got
an idea how to debug this further? Could it be caused by other
hooks we've got?

What strikes me though is the fact the error message I get on
demo.horde.org when trying to send an email to "f...@example..com"
is "Invalid e-mail address (f...@example..com)."
According to the code that I see in .../imp/lib/Compose.php around
line 1300, this would be the error message that is generated upon a
Horde_Mail_Exception, not upon Horde_Idna_Exception, because in the
latter case, the message would contain a colon.  I thought this
whole problem was related to Horde_Idna?  To me, the code added in
the commit
<https://github.com/horde/horde/commit/36b0073ab1184a4b6f2a2beea3c286ce087c763d> suggests that catching Horde_Idna_Exception is supposed to fix the problem?  Or am I on the wrong track
completely?

I was revisiting this problem today as it persists in our environment, using

Horde_Idna 1.1.1 stable
imp 6.2.21 stable

What I was able to find out is that whether or not the problem will
be caught by the fix mentioned above depends on the "maildomain"
setting for the mail server used (as set in Imp's
backends.local.php). If "maildomain" is set to the empty string, as
is the case in the "advanced" configuration given as an example in
backends.php, an error message is displayed if one tries to send an
email to e.g. "john@example..org" with two adjacent dots in the
domain name. However, if the "maildomain" property of the mail
server is set to a proper hostname, e.g. "example.net", no warning
is displayed and the email is sent to e.g. "john.joe" without a
domain name.

I tried to work around this using a hook, that is "public function
compose_addr(Horde_Mail_Rfc822_Address $addr)" as described in Imp's
hooks.php.dist. The idea was to look for addresses that contain
".." in the host part of the email address and reject them in the
hook. However, that did not work either. When the backend's
"maildomain" property is set to e.g. "example.net" and one tries to
send an email to the misspelled "john@example..org" address
again, then inside the hook the $addr->mailbox variable will be set
to "john.doe", but the $addr->host variable will be "example.net"
(as given in the "maildomain" setting) and not "example..org" (as
given by the user writing the email message). So one cannot catch
the wrong email address there. Of course, the email is sent to just
"john.doe" (without domain name) eventually without the
"example.net" suffix applied. (In the imp_sentmail table, this will
be recorded as "john@example..org"). If anyone else is going to
try this out, please note that changes made to backends.local.php
will only be applied to new sessions, so one has to re-login to
properly test those changes.

Any chance for an easy fix to this?

Thanks
Jens

I still cannot reproduce this, even with the 'maildomain' setting
popuplated. I get the same error message with and without that. And I
always get the error message including the colon. I get that on
demo.horde.org too though.

I have checked for this issue on the web and found an article for a

Hi All,

I'm trying to modify mailbox view to show in the subbar the email
address of the user (here it's also the username) as it is shown in
the portal page, but keeping the quota information. It calls the
subinfo function so I tried to modify Subinfo.php adding a new field
to the array, but without success.

This is what I tried (among others changes):

    public function __construct(array $config = array())
    {
    $config['templatePath'] = IMP_TEMPLATES . '/basic';
    parent::__construct($config);

    $quotadata =
$GLOBALS['injector']->getInstance('IMP_Quota_Ui')->quota(isset($config['mailbox']) ? $config['mailbox'] : null,
true);

    if (!empty($quotadata)) {
    $this->quotaClass = $quotadata['class'];
    $this->quotaText = $quotadata['message'];

    $this->value = $config['mailbox'];

    }
    }

Do you know how can I easily show the email address at the subbar?

'value' is not passed to the constructor but to the render() method
instead, via the $locals array.

This is probably just from creating an attachment preview. The
body of the message should still render just fine.

Yes sir, I understand that is should render just fine, but it isn't
for me using edge, chrome, FF, and that is what I am needing
assistance with. Mike showed it did on his system, so I'm hopeful
that it's simply a matter of me having something misconfigured.
What else could I look at? mime_driver settings are where I plan
to start next when I'm able to get back to looking into this.

Re: [imp] Problem uploading attachments

2017-10-05 Thread Jan Schneider

Zitat von Sven Hankel :

Hey there,

Horde is the best, I've ever seen, I nearly only use it instead of my
desktop program.

BUT: When I want to upload attachments, the upload runs, but finishing
seems to be not recognized by imp.

Strange: Uploading attachments to wicked works like a charm. Also
uploading data to gollem works.

Used software: nginx-1.13.5, php-fpm (7.1.10), horde-5.2.22, imp-6.2.21
The error logs are simply empty. Sending a mail with (not finished)
attachment hangs forever.

The only error log is in javascript console of chromium (behaviour
is the same with firefox, safari, edge):

In dynamic mode:

Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token / in JSON at position 0
at JSON.parse ()
at String.parseJSON [as evalJSON] (4ae082b1092f545e.js:110)
at Object. (c3ee0e997039cae1.js:15)
at HTMLIFrameElement. (4ae082b1092f545e.js:781)

This sounds like an error in the JSON response sent from the server.
You would need to use the browser's network debugger to see what
exactly is being returned.

In simple mode, I get this:

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'tagName' of null
at getValue (4ae082b1092f545e.js:691)
at Object.onDomLoad (1357ba9cb3a9cd0d.js:340)

at HTMLDocument.fireContentLoadedEvent (4ae082b1092f545e.js:788)

I'm not really familiar with javascript, I tried with older php
versions, different cookie settings.

Does somebody have an idea?

Thanks for Your help!

Again, you would need a debugger (this time for javascript) to see
where and why exactly this is happening. You also need to disable
javascript compression to get a useful result.

I run a Debian Stretch server with PHP 7.1 and the latest patches.

It's a 3rd-party library that Kronolith uses. Not much we can do about.

Kronolith not only uses PEAR/Date, it is a required package. So this
is not something optional one can do without. The last stable
release was 10+ years ago and even the latest alpha release is
almost 4 years old.

https://pear.php.net/package/Date

Off course, one can hope that someone takes over maintainership, but
unless that hope actually materializes, it may be worthwhile to look
for alternatives.

It's actually two packages, Date and Date_Holidays. The dependency on
the former has already been removed in Horde 6. And we are probably
going to fork Date_Holidays for Horde 6.

Re: [imp] Very large tables

2017-08-30 Thread Jan Schneider

Zitat von Federico Giannici :

On 08/29/17 12:53, Arjen de Korte wrote:

Citeren Federico Giannici :

Hi!

We are using Horde as WebMail for a few hundreds of users.

In the last months I have noticed that the disks load (two SSD in
RAID1) is grown a lot. We use MySQL (actually MariaDB) as DB. I looked
at the tables and have noticed that there are two very large tables:

- horde_vfs: 24G size, 74 thousands records
- horde_imap_client_message: 12G size, 6 million records!

Are these sizes and number of records "normal"?

Neither are purged automatically, so this may be normal.

Is there any mechanism to purge old records from these tables? Or they
will grow forever?

You can use 'imp-query-imap-cache --lifetime ' to trim
'horde_imap_client_message'. Nothing will be lost, anything not in the
cache will be retreived from the IMAP server again, possibly causing a
slight delay.

Oh!
I didn't noticed that command.
I seems it's just what we were looking for...

Regarding 'horde_vfs', it really depends on what is in there. It can be
used for several things. Attachments and drafts can be stored there
before sending and you may wish to trim very old entries. But it can
also be used for more permanent storage, in which case trimming is
probably not such a good idea. Things will be permanently lost, so be
careful here, as it will p*ss off your users if you remove things they
actually use.

Looking at the DB contents, it seems that this table is used at
99,9% for email composition, so I think we could safely delete the
records older than a day.janma

The question is: can we safely simply delete entries from the
horde_vfs table (filtering for vfs_path = ".horde/imp/compose")? No
references will be broken in some other table?

Thanks

No, you can safely remove those. In the long term you should use a
different VFS backend than SQL though.

Re: [imp] New IMAP server, troubleshooting slow IMP performance

2017-07-26 Thread Jan Schneider

Zitat von Simon Wilson :

Hi Simon,

On Wed, Jul 26, 2017 at 12:07:26PM +1000, Simon Wilson wrote:

migrating IMAP
from a CentOS 5 to a CentOS 7 server in the process.
Horde/apache are on a

separate server on the same network as both the old and new IMAP servers.

I'm trying to troubleshoot laggy performance in Imp since the move.

For example, refreshing the mail list in Inbox and deleting an email each
take 3 to 4 seconds before the Refresh circle stops spinning and
the list is

updated. This is longer than it was before (1 to 2 seconds typically). It
just means that overall Imp feels very slow.

Just a few ideas:

- Is your imap server respongding slow if you connect with another mail
client, for example Thunderbird?

No - feels very snappy from Mailbird.

- Are other php scripts on your webserver where imp is running also
reacting slow?

No. WordPress, which is hosted on the same server as Horde, is
performing as normal. I also have a custom PHP app running on that
box, and it's lightning fast. The Horde server is not highly
loaded, CPU usage avg < 5%.

- Are the cache settings for horde and imp the same as they were in the
old setup?

I've not changed anything on the Horde server except pointing Imp
and Ingo backends.local.php to the new IMAP server address. I also
rebooted it.

- Are the network settings, especialy routing and DNS, on the new
webserver really OK?

The web server has not changed at all, Horde and httpd are
unchanged (apart from the changed config to point to the new IMAP
server), only IMAP has moved. The server IMAP has moved to is
running well - again very low CPU, 4GB RAM. It runs postfix,
cyrus-imapd, associated mail filters, and nothing else. It's not a
high traffic mail server.

It's only Imp that appears sluggish when pointing at the new IMAP
server, yet the transactions appear to be fast from the IMAP IMP
debug log. Maybe I'm imagining it... but my seat of the pants dyno
tells me it's slower... :)

Did you try emptying the IMAP cache, assuming you have it enabled?

Jan - IMAP cache... the caching I had setup was:

$servers['imap']['cache'] = sql;

I just switched it to nosql to use the mongo nosql setup on the
server that is used for Horde cache - and the email times have
dropped to about 0.5s.

Thanks Jan, that was the ticket. I think nosql is probably better

The Horde server is not highly loaded,
CPU usage avg < 5%.

The web server has not changed at all, Horde and httpd are unchanged
(apart from the changed config to point to the new IMAP server),
only IMAP has moved. The server IMAP has moved to is running well -
again very low CPU, 4GB RAM. It runs postfix, cyrus-imapd,
associated mail filters, and nothing else. It's not a high traffic
mail server.

Try setting the 'vfolder' pref in imp/config/prefs.local.php to something
like
'a:1:{i:0;C:25:"IMP_Search_Vfolder_Vinbox":18:{a:1:{s:1:"v";i:1;}}}'
and

then lock it. Note that this will not affect any user who has already set
this preference - you will have to manually remove the vfolder pref values
from the preference backend.

This approach is working to not longer display virtual folders, but when
searching through the mails in IMP there is still the
possebility to store the result in a virtual folder and this folder is
shown at least as long as the user is logged in.

So the setting above does only afect the display of virtual folders.
What I was looking for is a possebility to completely disable virtual
folders in every part of horde and its applications, but it seems that
there is no such setting :-(.

You need to lock that preference too.

Dear list,

I don't know if it's OK to reply my own message, but I want to add

Well, as I said just before, I am using imapproxy 1.2.7. So I
changed my backends.local.php to connect directly to my IMAP Dovecot.

It's the 4th day since I did this and, althought IMP is very slow I
didn't notice that strange behavior I firstly reported. I mean, the
drafts are saved corectly without any duplication. No signal of that
errors in logs.

So, *it seems* to be something related to IMP 6.2.2 <-> imapproxy
1.2.7. Any ideas about what could be happening?

Thanks,
Leonardo

Open PGP encrypted messages works fine.

Zitat von Gerry Roston :

On my old VPS, I had installed Horde Imp (exact version unknown, but it was
installed about 18 months ago and the interface is 'the same' as the current
version) and when using Imp, the delete key would delete messages. I
recently switched to a hosted email system that uses Horde Imp (Groupware
5.2.14 / Imp H5 (6.2.14)) and when using Imp, the delete key does nothing.
What can be done to restore the pervious behavior?

This isn't anything that could be configured, so it should work the

Re: [imp] Trouble with email addresses containing empty domain labels

2017-01-24 Thread Jan Schneider

Zitat von Jens Wahnes :

Hi,

with current stable version of Imp (6.2.17) and Horde_Smtp (1.9.4),
we are seeing problems with emails that are to be sent to addresses
that appear to be invalid, as they contain two adjacent dots and
thus an empty "label" (at least that's what I would call this in DNS
vocabulary). To make things clearer, consider, for example, an
address such as john...@example..com

When one tries to send an email to an address like that, at a
certain point in processing that email, some Horde component seems
to drop the domain part of the address completely. So in the example
of "john...@example..com", it will try to send an email to just
"johndoe" without any domain. Interestingly enough, the entry in the
imp_sentmail table contains the full (wrong) address. On the other
hand, the "To" header of the email, as saved in the "Sent" folder on
the IMAP server, does not contain the full address, but only the
localpart. Of course, the recipient's address given in the SMTP
dialogue is lacking the domain as well.

So after doing some tests, I'm still unsure if Imp or Horde_Smtp or
some other package is to be blamed. Could someone help clarify?

Of course, there is also the question of how to best deal with this.
In an ideal world, I'd say that Horde_Smtp should be able to deal
with these kind of email addresses but Imp should never generate
them. IMHO, users trying to send an email to an address with a typo
like this (two dots instead of one dot) should receive an error
message and the message should not be sent until they revised the
email address.

Jens

I was able to track this down to Horde_Idna. The error will be catched
in Horde_Idna 1.1.0 and displayed smarter in IMP 6.2.18.

Re: [imp] Mail server closed the connection unexpectedly

2016-11-14 Thread Jan Schneider

Zitat von Stefan Suurmeijer :

Hi Jan,

Thanks for replying!
The IMAP logs don't really show anything. I'm using Cyrus IMAP. On
default logging, I see no evidence of the connection in the logs. Cyrus
has some debug options in the imapd.conf file that I've been
experimenting with a little, but so far nothing
Cyrus also has the option to explicitly log all actions for a user. So
I've created a directory /var/lib/cyrus/log/testuser. But nothing shows
there either (which is logical, since the connection fails on login,
Cyrus never knows the user)

I haven't yet found a way to simply raise Cyrus' log level. Still
Googling for that
Any thoughts?

Now, if I look in the configuration of the Horde, I see that there are
quite a few modules that need updating. Is it safe to do so, and would it
fix this issue?

Yes, at least to the latter, because you upgraded Horde_Core, but not
Horde_ActiveSync to the required dependency version.

PHP 7 is not officially supported yet. You either need to downgrade
PHP or force-upgrade/force-install Horde via PEAR.

Zitat von Stefan Fröchtenicht :

Thats not possible anymore. The server ist live with costumers.
And the pear installation doesn't work with ubuntu 16.04 and PHP7.0.
When you say it works, then tell me how... i've got many errors
after the install of horde...

Or can i use the PEAR upgrade function?

Install it direct with pear, mostly the dpkg packages are too old.

I'm not sure what you mean, because we don't add an attachment icon to

Jan,
Thank you for responding.
To be clear, the attachment and its associated icon are located at the
bottom of the email. Therefore, to open the attachment, in this case a pdf
file, I have to scroll down approximately 30 lines to see the
attachment. Also, the email sending and receiving client are both

sending the email to myself.

However, when I send an email from Gmail with the same pdf attachment. to
the same account (my account with the IMP Client), the lines and or space
Do Not appear. The attachment appears directly below the text.
Additionally, when I send the same email from my IMP client to Gmail
the

extra lines Do Not appear.

In my original message, I made the assumption that this was a known problem
 - I should not have. I will be happy to provide more information if
necessary.

Is there a way to accomplish this?

Thanks.

It seems that MBOX_USERSPECIAL of special_mboxes should do what I

I have a "Virus" folder in my mailbox. I want it appear as a
"special" folder. I don't know if the server see it as "Virus" or
"INBOX.Virus", so I specified both and I set this in the

$servers['imap']['special_mboxes'] = array(
IMP_Mailbox::MBOX_TRASH => 'Cestino',
IMP_Mailbox::MBOX_USERSPECIAL => array( 'Virus' => "Virus",
'INBOX.Virus' => "INBOX.Virus" )

But the "Virus" folder isn't shown in the special folders group.

Looks fine, it should work this was. Please create a bug ticket.

Well, in the Spam Reporting section, obviously.

Just a piece of advice. You may want to verify what is being reported as

spam before having spamassassin act on it, especially if it will affect all
users. We get our fair share of legitimate mail being reported as spam by
our users.

Noted. But the beauty if Bayesian analysis and a per-user db is that what
one user considers spam can be flagged as spam for that user.

No, because we're mostly covered with client work and private life at

Maybe we can speed it up with some sponsoring...?

This may help. The currently biggest stumbling block is the Git
repository split that we need to do before we can go any further. This
requires a bunch of tools, especially for checking out, installing,
and committing from and to a number of repositories.

Re: [imp] sent-folder not deleted during monthly maintenance

Zitat von Jens Grüntjes :

Hi list,

today I realized that my old sent-mail folders were not deleted
during today's maintenance tasks. In my preferences I set "Delete
old sent mail mailboxes after this many months ..." to 36, i.e. 3
years. But I find folders called "sent-mail-10-2010", so these are
almost 6 years old.

I have several identities which have two different sent-mail
folders, one called "sent-mail" the other one "Sent". The first one
is the one I used from the beginning the latter one I created first
about a year ago.

Is it possible that the maintenance tasks is confused because of the
two sent folders? The monthly renaming of the folders works for both
but deleting does not. Any hints?

I don't see anything suspicious in the code of this login task, it

You can't currently disable it. Well, not without hacking the code.

Well, I was thinking to hidden it (but not the .mimePartInfoAtc) via CSS...

And FWIW, it's the only way to print emails, which your users might not

Ouch!!!
Why not use a button near Forward, Delete, etc., as other email clients?
I would find it more user friendly.

It would print all the currently shown parts (i.e. the inline ones).

Because this is not a desktop client, but a browser. See the mailing
list archives for details.

I tried with the following but without success:

$_prefs['parts_display']['value'] = 'none';

This controls what parts are displayed in the "summary" area of the
header area.

Is there any way to get rid if those boxes?

Thanks.

Re: [imp] Server does not support binary message data

2016-04-08 Thread Jan Schneider

Zitat von Aaron Paetznick :

We've found a particular message that generates an "Server does not
support binary message data" error when we attempt to forward it
from IMP. We're using Horde 5.2.10 and IMP 6.2.13. I thought the
issue was similar to ticket #13901
(https://bugs.horde.org/ticket/13901), but we're using regular SMTP
and not ActiveSync.

It may still be the same issue. If we attach the message as-is as a
message/rfc822 mime part, and that part is formatted so that it
requires binarymime, that may be the issue. Theoretically.

We're also having problems with the same message and how it renders.
It's an HTML message, and some of the links below a certain point no
longer work. They simply aren't available to click. This does not
happen for the same message in Outlook.com, Yahoo, Gmail, and even
Horde3/IMP4. I wonder if this is related to the binary message data
error above.

Is there an address we can forward the message to for analysis?

[imp] IMP H5 (6.2.14) (final)

2016-04-05 Thread Jan Schneider

The Horde Team is pleased to announce the final release of the Internet Mail
Program (IMP) version H5 (6.2.14).

IMP, the Internet Mail Program, is one of the most popular and widely deployed

in desktop

email clients. For more information on IMP, visit

For upgrading instructions, please see
http://www.horde.org/apps/imp/docs/UPGRADING

For detailed installation and configuration instructions, please see

is there a way to import ics attachments from imp directly to

Re: [imp] Microsoft Edge typing issue & user agent string

2016-03-22 Thread Jan Schneider

Zitat von Michael Martinell :

I am having an issue in Microsoft Edge where the cursor will jump to
the beginning of a message and start to insert the text backwards.
If I change the user agent string in Microsoft Edge to that of
Mozilla Firefox, then the problem goes away and everything works
normally. Where does Horde/Imp do the check to determine which
browser is being used?

How to reproduce the issue:
Using Windows 10/Microsoft Edge go to demo.horde.org and start a new
email message. Click in the body of the message and press enter
once to get to the second line. Type numbers
1234567890123456789012345. When the next 6 is typed, then the
cursor will jump to the beginning of the first 1, and start to input
the text backwards. 098765432109876

If the user agent is changed from within Microsoft Edge, by using
the F12 Developer Tools option, then the issue goes away. My
current thought is that Horde is not correctly identifying, or not
correctly handling, the browser. Which file should I look in that
handles this behavior, and what should I look to change in that file?

Cannot reproduce.

Hi Jan,
 Thank you for your answer.
Can I influence the MIME viewer, to display as iso-8859-2 text, if
I change the extension of the attachment?

Or what is the method, as the MIME viewer detect encoding?

Well, you can change the code of "Plain" mime viewer to use a
different output encoding, but I would recommend against it. And I
still don't see any rationale to change the current behavior.

Hi,

When I try Forward->Redirect, something somewhere prepends a From line

I uploaded a full example email here:

This is a message sent from u...@example.com to u...@example.com, and
then redirected from inbox to a different user.

This of course creates an invalid email.

I don't know whether it is Horde doing this, or some misconfiguration
in our Postfixes or Spamassassin or what.

Any suggestions in how do we debug this?

Horde isn't doing this, so this must be something in your mail system.

No.

Re: [imp] Imp GIT sending to myself displays userid@missing_domain

2016-01-04 Thread Jan Schneider

Zitat von John H. Bennett III :

Hello all,

I've set up a test server that is running a GIT version of horde. I
just did a pull today, so I'm up to date.

The issue I am seeing is that when I send an email to myself, it is
received as userid@missing_domain.

For example, I'm logged in as admin, and am trying to send an email
to admin, and the from says To:admin@missing_domain. It's the same
for any user. This works fine on my production server running horde
5.2.8, imp 6.2.11, and as far as I can remember, has always worked.

I have a default identity set and , I've compared horde/conf.php,
imp/conf.php and backends.local.php settings against my production
server, and things match where they should except for any new
settings in the GIT version, and the different maildomain parameters
in imp/backends.local.php

If I send to ad...@domain.com, then it does display correctly.

Has something changed that I need to configure something else, or
have I just completely missed something? Probably the latter.

Any clues are appreciated.

Sorry I don't follow completely. Are you saying that sending the
address "ad...@domain.com" works, but literally "admin" (without
domain part) fails?
The latter would be completed with the maildomain parameter from the
backend configuration, so if you have differences there between your
working and non-working version, I'd start looking there.

This may be your email address, but more important this is the

Yes, it is! I use this mail address every time I log into Horde. So
it's like there's a shared address book between me and myself which
I can't access through Horde.

No. You use two different user names. If you see
[kars...@schlimme.net] in a shared address book, then you are *not*
logged in as kars...@schlimme.net.

Unfortunately I can't search this address book or list its
content. If I click the edit button I get the error message:

Zitat von Karsten Schlimme :

Hi everyone,

I just realized that newly created contacts from my mobile phone
won't show up in "My address book" under "My address books", which
is selected for syncing with extern devices. Instead there is a new
address book under "Shared address books" with the name "Address
book from Karsten Schlimme [kars...@schlimme.net], which is my own
mail address.

This may be your email address, but more important this is the Horde
user name which was used to create this address book.

Unfortunately I can't search this address book or list its content.
If I click the edit button I get the error message: "You're not
allowed to see this address book".

Does anybody know where this shared address book comes from? I guess

You need to enable 1.2 on the IMAP and SMTP server. PHP will use it
automatically.

Hello Jan,

thanks for your reply. I am sorry. I guess, my statement was a bit
cloudy:

TLSv1.2 is working fine with other servers (smtp) and every client
(submission and imap) I have seen so far in the logs e.g. thunderbird,
but:

Disabling TLSv1.0 on IMAP or SMTP leads to TLS errors on Horde
connections.

Horde is always trying TLSv1.0, nothing else and I do not have a clue
where the problem could be. PHP or OpenSSL or the horde/imp libraries
do not want to play with it. I am almost sure it has nothing to do
with openssl, because I think PHP, cyrus-imap and postfix are linked
to the same openssl libraries.

Any ideas?

All Horde libraries that work on sockets use \Horde\Socket\Client behind
the scenes. And this in return uses PHP's stream_socket_enable_crypto()
with the STREAM_CRYPTO_METHOD_TLS_CLIENT flag. That should allow any TLS
version, and automatically picking the highest available version.
You may be hitting https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=65329

Hello Jan,

thanks for the link to the bug report. I didn't found it on my research.

STREAM_CRYPTO_METHOD_TLS_CLIENT is the source of the problem with
PHP 5.6. As https://wiki.php.net/rfc/improved-tls-defaults states
under "Stream Wrapper Creep":
Beyond the “creep” of new stream wrappers there also exists a
consistency problem. Do all users understand that the ssl wrapper
technically can negotiate any of the supported protocols? Do they
know that in contrast the tls wrapper will only negotiate TLSv1 and
not the newer TLS iterations?

[SNIP]

Existing Constant Re-Valuing

The existing constants are internally re-valued as shown below to
allow their use as bitwise flags. Because the existing code
delineates between clients and servers the least significant bit is
used to differentiate between the two stream types.

[SNIP]
STREAM_CRYPTO_METHOD_TLS_CLIENT = ((1 << 3) | (1 << 4) | (1 << 5) |
1), /* Any TLS protocol */

[SNIP]

It seems there is a bug/feature?
http://grokbase.com/t/php/php-bugs/1541c7f5jy/php-bug-bug-69345-new-tls-wrapper-disables-tls-1-1

Hard coding STREAM_CRYPTO_METHOD_TLSv1_2_CLIENT or
STREAM_CRYPTO_METHOD_SSLv23_CLIENT in Horde/Socket/Client.php
upgrades the imap/smtp connections to TLSv1.2. That proved that my
installation is capable to use TLSv1.2.

Since this exists as of PHP 5.5 I guess it will not change soon. Is
there a chance to make Horde/Socket/Client.php capable of
recognizing the PHP version or just trying newer protocols first?

Yes, I guess that's the only viable option. Please create a ticket for that.

However, I'd still like the ability to permanently delete mail from any
folder.

All I can say about that it that from my point of view, that feature is
difficult to implement, because it would require one to *reliably*
(re-)set the flags of potentially many mails in a folder since IMAP
does not allow the deletion of a single arbitrary message per se. So
it can only be done by emulating this, i.e. removing any "deleted"
flags present, flagging the message in question as deleted, doing
EXPUNGE (or CLOSE, for that matter) and resetting all message flags
removed previously. Since there can be several IMAP clients active on
a mailbox at any given time, it would be very hard to get this right
since these operations are not atomic. That's true especially if you
consider that there could be trouble with the imap connection in
between the commands required to do this, so this might require to
implement some "to do list" of IMAP commands that would need to be
(reliably) stored somewhere until the connection to the IMAP server can
be re-established. In essence, I would not consider the effect of this
worth the effort needed.

Jens

You can expunge individual messages too, and we already have a method
argument in IMP's API to delete and purge individual message. So it
should be rather simple to implement (keyhandler, AJAX API method,
help text).

It means that PHP doesn't care if a string contains NULLs, so we
are just discarding the ~ when it is part of the literal8
construction (since a NULL is treated as a single-byte character
for PHP string processing).

RFC 6855 support is irrelevant here - literal8 is defined by
BINARY so this can be tested on a server that supports BINARY.
Thus, if you have a fix Jan you don't need access to a UTF-8
server to properly test.

Okay, and when is BINARY used, so I have a use case where ~ *does*
indicate binary strings? Any binary attachment?

The only place where we would need to *parse* a literal8, is when
reading BODY data of a part. I think we always try to do this, but
IIRC the server only has to send literal8 when the data both 1) is
8bit an 2) contains NULs. So you would have to artificially create
that kind of data to possibly receive the correct response.

Regardless, UTF8 support isn't useful for testing since it only
defines literal8 for sending data in APPENDS (thus, no local parsing
needed).

It's going to be much easier to write a unit test for this. I'm
almost 100% positive there's a unit test dedicated to tokenization
of server response strings. So test that these two strings are
parsed correctly:

* 1 FETCH (BINARY[1] ~{1}
and
* LIST () "" "~foo"

Re: [imp] Folder names with tilde character

2015-11-19 Thread Jan Schneider

Zitat von Jens Wahnes :

One of our users created a folder with a tilde ("~") character
within the folder name. This kind of folder name is not handled
correctly. When the folder is shown in the folder list, the tilde
character is silently dropped. For instance, if a folder by the
name of "~tilde~" is created, it is shown in the mailbox list as if
it were called "tilde". As a result, all kinds of bad things happen,
e.g. when trying to open the folder, an error message is shown, as
there is no folder named just "tilde" present on the server.

I have seen this happening on a server without UTF-8 support (RFC
6855). Since I don't have access to any IMAP server that does
support the "UTF8=ACCEPT" extension, I don't know if it happens on
those servers as well. Maybe someone else can try to see what
happens there?

Confirmed on Cyrus (without UTF8=ACCEPT capability).

After a very long search, I found out that this problem is caused by
the code in the Horde_Imap_Client_Tokenize class, or more precisely
the code within the "next" method on line 292 or so. There is a
comment attached to the "case" statement in question which reads
"Ignore binary string identifier. PHP strings are binary-safe", but
even after reading quite a bit of the surrounding code, I fail to
understand what is meant by that comment. The only other location I
found which seems to deal with this is on line 209 or so, in the
getLiteralLength method.

Disabling the code that sorts out tilde characters around line 292
of Tokenize.php sure does help to resolve the problem of folder
names with a tilde character being displayed incorrectly in IMP.
AFAICT, this does no harm to folder names that do in fact contain
"binary" characters such as "Äpfel ≠ Birnen". However, I'm not
really sure if this kind of change might still have side effects
that I cannot foresee. Maybe someone more familiar with the
Horde_Imap_Client code can tell if it is safe to disable that
particular piece of code?

I have a local fix, but cannot test it on a UTF8 server. If anyone
could jump in here?

Horde Webmail 5.2.10 only prints:

I would like to blame Outlook for sending invalid S/MIME data, but
