cvs log problem

2003-09-10 Thread Ralph Jocham
Sorry to trouble you with this question, but I hope
some of you gurus already know the answer.

When I use the following command I get every file
listed in the module regardless of whether or not I
changed them, which is bad,

cvs log -b -d 2003-03-18 02:40 -wrjocham
jboss-3.0.6_tomcat-4.1.18

When I add the -S option I only get the files I
modified listed, which is good. However, I also only
get those in the root directory of the module (i.e.
not in the subdirectories), which is bad.

cvs log -b -d 2003-03-18 02:40 -S -wrjocham
jboss-3.0.6_tomcat-4.1.18

Any ideas how I can list just the files I changed
after a certain date for all the subdirectories
(recursive) of the module?

Thanks,
Ralph

CVSWeb(NT) problem on Win2K

2003-08-14 Thread Ralph Jocham
Hi,
I am not sure if this is the right mailing list but I
have the following problem.
I installed CVSWebNT on my Win2K Server and after some
playing around it did work. Now, suddenly out of the
blue it does not work any more. The error message is
the following (rlog is on the sys path)

Error: Failed to spawn GNU rlog on
'E:/CVSRepo/demo/source//aREADME.txt,v,
E:/CVSRepo/demo/source//build.xml,v,

I have noticed the // just before the file and removed
it to a single / -- no success -- then I replaced the
/ with a \ -- no success. The rlog command being run
in cvswebnt.cgi is the follwoing:

open($fh, rlog \ . $filenames . \ 2nul |)

but when I type same command on the cmd line :

C:\rlog e:\cvsrepo\sds\dev\archiver.log4j,v
rlog: e:\cvsrepo\sds\dev\RCS/archiver.log4j,v: No such
file or directory

I see a RCS folder being put in to the string? Why? Is
this the cause??

Thanks,
Ralph

Pesimistic/Locking Checkout in CVS

2003-07-31 Thread Ralph Jocham
Hi,
we are using CVS as our development CM tool for quite
a while. But, now Word Documents and other binaries
are being stored in our reopository. The less tech
people have problems using the cvs edit command. They
expect a PVCS, VSS like behavior. Is there a way to do
that with CVS. Any kind of informations regarding this
is appreciated.

Thanks,
Ralph

Is CVS usable for big companies/projects (HELP!!!)

2002-10-09 Thread Ralph Jocham

Hi All,
I am trying to convince upper level management that
CVS is a good
choice as a version control system. Their main contra
argument is that
it does not scale.
So, can you please give me some real world experiences
on which big
projects you used it. (Number of people, lines of
code, distributed,
...)
Also, names of well known companies CVS would help. (I
think NASA is one, but I am not sure)

With these numbers at hand I hope that I can convince
them.

Please reply ;)

Thanks,
Ralph
