This happened to me all the time with the default DB4 databases on our RHEL Linux server. The paths below may be different on your OSX boxes, but to fix we would do: service cyrus-imapd stop /bin/rm /var/lib/imap/db/log.* su - cyrus -c "/usr/lib64/cyrus-imapd/ctl_cyrusdb -r" service cyrus-imapd start NOTE, depending on how you get mail injected into the Cyrus system, your incoming mail from during the outage may be sitting somewhere and need assistance. For example, we run or incoming mail through procmail which calls 'deliver' to put mail into Cyrus, but if that fails, put the mail into normal UNIX flat space in /var/spool/mail. After a failure, I would have to manualy re-inject that mail from /var/spool/mail into Cyrus. Eventually we seem to have gotten rid of the problem after we converted the databases to 'skiplist' via putting these lines in /etc/imapd.conf: duplicate_db: skiplist tlscache_db: skiplist Then stop cyrus-imapd, delete /var/lib/imap/deliver.db and /var/lib/imap/tls_sessions.db, and then start cyrus-imapd up -- --- Paul Rainesemail: raines at nmr.mgh.harvard.edu MGH/MIT/HMS Athinoula A. Wendell: This error you are getting, happened to me numerous times. It's Berkeley DB causing your woes. Even the Cyrus documentation calims that Berkely is unstable: "...it has proved to be somewhat unstable and prone to locking problems" ( http://acswiki.andrew.cmu.edu/twiki/bin/view/Cyrus/ WhatDatabaseBackend ) I'm running 10.3.9 server with cyrus. You need to get off of the berekely DB format for you mailbox DB an go to skiplist. I have a script that I modified that was originally part of Apples Tiger Server installer (found the code on Apple's CVS). Basically in Tiger, they say that they are "upgrading" your cyrus databases during a Tiger upgrade. In fact, they are converting the DB's from Berkeley to skiplist. I took this script and took out the Tiger-specific parts and made it perform the conversions on the database files specific to Panther. You can contact me offlist if you are interested in the script & procedure for the conversion. Bryan --- Bryan D. Hill System Administrator U. C. On FreeBSD, I've installed these ports: cyrus-imapd-2.2.12_1 cyrus-sasl-2.1.21 cyrus-sasl-saslauthd-2.1.21 imapd.conf includes: virtdomains: userid defaultdomain: riboflavin.net sasl_pwcheck_method: saslauthd sasl_auto_transition: no sasl_mech_list: plain login unixhierarchysep: yes The rest of the settings I would think aren't related; paths, etc. The ldap filter in saslauthd is set for: ldap_search_base: ou=%d, ldap_scope: sub ldap_auth_method: custom ldap_filter: (mailRoutingAddress=%u) Though I tried without to make sure that wasn't the problem, I run saslauthd with the -r flag, so realm should be appended to the userid if passed. When I run testsaslauthd -u [EMAIL PROTECTED] -p I get: 0: OK "Success." When I run imtest -s -a [EMAIL PROTECTED] localhost, first it pauses for about 20 seconds, which I can't explain; happens with a standard imap client as well. When I enter the password I get: S: A01 NO authentication failure Authentication failed. generic failure Security strength factor: 256 If I look in the auth log, it shows: Oct 5 15:30:10 testsrv saslauthd[85649]: do_auth : auth failure: [user=marcus] [service=imap] [realm=] [mech=ldap] [reason=Unknown] which I'm assuming means it was passed marcus in %u and no realm instead of [EMAIL PROTECTED] in %u and/or marcus in %u and riboflavin.net in %r/%d. -- Marcus I. RE: formail not parsing folder
Hi, You have to know your users passwords, but.. I've implemented web-cyradm solution(users in MySQL+Cyrus+virt. domains) and moved users mail and folders this way (from UW-IMAP). 1) I've changed all users passwords in shadow file to one I know. 2) I've changed all users passwords in MySQL to the same one I know, and did the syncronisation with imapsync. 3) Restored all passwords back. Should work fine even with several hundred users. Note: I've used "crypt" in user passwords so there was no problem to transfer DES passwords from shadow file to MySQL. Cyrus + LDAP + SASLauth problem. Rewrite login?
Hello, I would like to 'rewrite' or associate the [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailbox with [EMAIL PROTECTED] Due to postfix limitations, it can only accept mail for domain listed in mydomains (localhost for example). The problem is adding a domain to mydomains list implies a reload of postfix and the decrease of performance, besides the procedure is not as simple as creating the accounts in LDAP, I need to access to smtp servers. With a maildrop configuration like [EMAIL PROTECTED] -> [EMAIL PROTECTED] I would workaround this problem in postfix-side, but then I have the problem with the user login of the customers that should be user.domain.com (with virtdomains adding @localhost) but should be desiderable to use login [EMAIL PROTECTED] due to current configuration in qmail/qpopper server that we need to integrate. Disapearing mailbox's
!!Sorry about the “life story” below. J!! Hi, I have been experiencing some teething problems with web-cyradm (0.5.5-beta1), cyradm and cyrus-imap (2.2.12) on centos 4.1. I followed the bouncing ball howto by Luc de Louw except I used rpm’s for cyrus-sasl and cyrus-imap that came with the distro instead of compiling from source. Using web-cyradm I created a domain and an account. Using an imap client (Evolution) I created a sub folder under the INBOX called test. All seemed to working nicely. My first problem occurred when I could not move anything into the new test folder from the client; I received an error something about quota limit reached. As the domain and accounts where created in web-cyradm with 0 quota values, I was surprised. So I thought I would try to set non-zero quota’s on the mailbox, which didn’t seem to work using web-cyadm, not that I received any error, just that after applying the changes the quota’s where still showing empty in web-cyadm. Thinking that there might be a bug in web-cyradm I tried to set quota’s via the cyradm CLI which returned “permission denied” I suppose this was the reason why web-cyadmin didn’t seem to set the quota. I read in the doco that you need to set some ACL’s to a mailbox before the cyrus user could delete it: Ø setaclmailbox user/firstname.lastname.domain.com cyrus c I assumed this might be the cause of the “permission denied” so I applied the above command to the mailbox, after which listmailbox showed no entries. After much stuffing around and no success I decided to reinstall cyrus-imapd making sure to delete /var/spool/imap and /var/lib/imap. Now, since the reinstallation of imap with all settings the same etc… I find that the admin user cyrus doesn’t seem to have permissions to create mailbox’s although authentication is successful. Can anyone shed any light on the situation? What went wrong? Why is still broken after a reinstallation? Thanks.
