I have always used caching;  password changes have not been a problem,
a negative response invalidates the cache entry. AFAIK it only caches
positive attempts.

We also have seen this with Thunderbird and cyrus 2.4, never had time to 
debug.  Always assumed it was a client defect.

tell that there's no connection-limiting rules at all. Plus, I've had 
this reproduced right now and made sure that the firewall logged no 
blocked packets, so whatever the cause is, it's not a firewall.

Yeah, but this happens even when I'm in the same LAN as the server is,

Hi,

since we upgraded our installation to 2.4.18-142 (SuSE SLES) we see the 
same behavior.

We are using the same settings as before. Fast deleting (2 msg per second)
of messages shows "login failed".
I haven't checked this out. Any idea how to analyses this ?
