[info-tech] Paper usage

2005-01-26 Thread Jan, Bolluyt

We are over-spending our budget for print supplies (paper
and toner) at an alarming rate. We are wondering if other schools in this
area have this problem or how they avoid over usage. Do you have policies
in place to curtail computer printing by staff and/or students? Do you
have a fee at the beginning of the school year for print supplies? Do you have
monitoring software and if so, which software? Do you have any
suggestions to help us keep our printing manageable?

You can send responses to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thank you

Jan-

Several of us here in the AEA
are using PAS (now called Equitrac Professional) from Equitrac.

 Search through the archives as
someone asked about this a month or so ago.

This might not be the correct group to discuss this proposal with but I
figure you can get it to the right people in your district.

We have begun discussions about having Iowa Central offer the core
college curriculum over the ICN for smaller schools in Iowa. We are
trying to get them to offer those classes from 8-4. If it works, we
then will direct our seniors into the Iowa Central schedule and have
them take classes over the ICN. Our goal is to offer as many dual
credit core college classes as possible and use the ICN.

Hopefully we will be able to get this going next year. We would like to
have 4 or 5 other schools that want to try this with us. Since we are
not a large district we don't have that many staff with masters so they
can't teach the core college classes. This is a way to allow our
students to take college classes and not leave our district.

Please contact me if you are interested, if I get a lot of interest we
 will discuss it with ICCC.

 Thanks,

RE: [info-tech] Paper usage

2005-01-26 Thread Kuhl, Douglas
Ya, go paperless by using Adobe Acrobat. I personally only print paper when I
need to file it in a book (eg. E-rate), but also save the file electronically
on our server. I believe that there really isn't a need for printing on paper,
unless it trully justified. We have set this up, but in the near future I am
going to highly recommend it as a district.
