ARRA Funding Making a Difference
Tips and Tricks

--

All-in-one REDCAT Recognized
Tech Learning magazine selected the REDCAT all-in-one
classroom audio system as one of the best education offerings of the past year.

Tech Learning judges named the winners after the
completion a rigorous 6 month evaluation and testing procedure. Criteria for
inclusion in the competition included products with innovative applications
that broke new ground as well as those that added significant enhancements to
proven education tools. A panel of more than 30 educators, who tested more than
100 entries across the country, chose the winners.

This year's awards have grown to include new hardware and
network categories, says Kevin Hogan, Editorial Director for NewBay Media's
Tech Learning Group. Our judges, which include stalwarts such as our
resident expert Joe Huber and the staff of Philadelphia's Science Leadership
Academy, put dozens of entries through their paces. To come out with their seal
of approval is a testament to the product.

Designing for the Teacher
The REDMIKE VC is the latest addition to Lightspeed's
family of microphones. Our engineers field-tested the REDMIKE VC, refining its
design with real educator feedback. Teachers have asked for a compact,
lightweight microphone that is simple-to-use. says Shaun Fagan, a Lightspeed
Product Manager. With the REDMIKE VC, we have continued that design
philosophy, adding volume controls to the microphone for simple thumb tap
adjustment. The tactile buttons are easily identified, so the teacher does not
have to interrupt teaching to view controls.

ARRA Funding Making a Difference
Making the most of educational funding is at the top of
everyone's list, especially in these difficult times. Our classroom audio
systems are one of the few researched based technologies that improve the
learning environment for both teachers and students.

Washington Township School District recently chose
Lightspeed's All-in-one REDCAT as their Classroom Audio Solution. The REDCAT
met ARRA the research based requirements and saved the district the additional
expense and time required for installation. Your local Classroom Audio
Consultant can assist you in selecting the appropriate system that will meet
the needs of your school.

Tips Tricks
The iR Media Connector is another Lightspeed innovation
that eliminates costly installation fees associated with classroom audio. Think
of the iRMC as a wireless router for your classroom audio sources. This compact
device wirelessly transmits audio signals to your Lightspeed Classroom Audio
System for crystal clear amplification.

When you have multiple audio sources, a powerful, wireless
tool like this makes a lot of sense. Simply connect the iR Media Connector to
your multimedia sources using the included patch cables and eliminate the need
to run cabling around the classroom.

2009-11-20 Thread Timothy A. Limbert
I've been discussing this with our board secretary recently. She uses Word,
keeps all the files on her computer, backed up to a flash drive, and every
time there are revisions, she burns the whole set of documents to CDs and
mails them to the board members, telling them to throw away their previous
CD. We've been discussing using Google Docs for this. She likes that idea,
and I don't see any big problems with it, other than uploading a lot of Word
documents. Any thoughts on that?

The original documents are stored on a the superintendent's network

I've been discussing this with our board secretary recently. She uses

Word, keeps all the files on her computer, backed up to a flash drive,

and every time there are revisions, she burns the whole set of
documents to CDs and mails them to the board members, telling them to
throw away their previous CD. We've been discussing using Google Docs

 for this.
She likes that idea, and I don't see any big problems with it, other
than uploading a lot of Word documents. Any thoughts on that?

It's great that your board policies are posted on your website, but how are
they updated and managed? Do you use a CMS where they are created and
updated directly on the web page? Or are they created and updated
elsewhere, then exported to PDF and posted on the web page?

Thanks!

RE: [info-tech] Board Policy mangement

2009-11-20 Thread Timothy A. Limbert
I had that same feeling at first, about something that important being in
the cloud. Ran it by my board secretary, and she said, Well, these are
public documents, anyway, and I'll make sure to keep local backups.
Problem solved, I think.

I know they are public docs, but having anything as important as Board

I see some of you put them online as PDFs, what is your workflow for
that? I like the CD idea Tim so the board all has copies. Too many
security issues for me to be behind Google Docs, for this any where.
