[info-tech] removing other inbound mail to l...@edu

2010-02-24 Thread Murray Gafkjen
I think Layne mentioned l...@edu allows other mail (Hotmail, MSN) to come
into Outlook Live. I came across a blog that shares on how to block it.
Here's the link:

http://liveatedu.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!C76EAE4D4A509FBD!1355.entry

Hope the link works. It uses PowerShell to get the job done. (One more thing
to learn.)

Have a good evening.

RE: [info-tech] Exchange and acronyms be here...

2010-02-24 Thread Richardson,Tony
Move all your mail to l...@edu. It's an on-line freebe version that
marries up to your Outlook the same.

Isn't it a scary feeling to be on the other end of the "It wasn't

Nevermind, that IS the error you are receiving.

Open IIS, right-click the web site, and select "Properties"

Under the "Directory Security" tab, select the second button from the
top (don't remember what it is called)

Select the "Granted Access" option, and remove any IP addresses listed
the box. Apply changes and do an IISRESET (I think stopping and
restarting the site in question is often enough).

Ok, so I'm rebuilding my exchange 2003 server after a bit of a nightmare
scenario involving a bad RAID controller.

I've got pretty much everything up and going, and I figure as long as
I've got everyone good and PO'd already, I might as well take some time
to get OMA (Outlook Mobile Access) up and going.

Well, I've bone everything by the book, and when that didn't work I read
the footnotes, and installed the service packs, and so here I am all
broken hearted

What I've got is a 403.6 error on accessing the server through the OMA
access.

In case you are interested in seeing my lovely error, you can find it
here...

Kurt, we (at least I) can't see the error due to an IP address
restriction configured in IIS under the "Directory Security" tab.

Not sure if you JMC users have already done this/knew about
this . . . but the new online version now gives you (as a parent) an
overall view of student progress on the main screen of progress
repots. No more having to click on each course to see what your kids'
current grades are -- it's just all right there! (And if I still have
questions I can still go in and look at the "gradebook" as in the
past.) Sweet upgrade! (And it has an enhanced built in email feature
on the progress reports screen.) FYI if you were looking for anything
to do today . . .
