Our May meeting is this Thursday 5/6/2010 at Fort Dodge. At this time I
have no vendors scheduled so the agenda will be

10am - ?? Open discussion time. I would like to use this time for
discussions on what your district did this year, and is planning on doing
next year. I will give an update on Interop, and share the "Swag" I picked
up from the show. This will also be a good time to discuss where everyone
is at on the MS settlement application. We can define other subject areas
at the meeting.

Please RSVP if you are attending or not. Weather permitting we will try to
Grill, but I would like a count so I know how much food to have.
Thanks.

[info-tech] Student Technology Education

2009-12-15 Thread Linda Huseman
I would appreciate any input that you have for these questions listed
below.

1. Do you have a technology instructor outside of the classroom?
(Elementary/middle school grade levels)

2. If so, at what grade level does it begin and how much time a week does
each class have with this instructor?

3. What content is taught?

4. Do you have computer labs within the building(s) for this instruction?

5. Have you increased or decreased technology instruction time over the last
5 years or has it stayed the same? If you have increased, how and how much.
If you have decreased, how and how much.

5. If you don't have a technology instructor, what content do classroom
teachers cover to prepare their students for technology literacy.

Thanks in advance,
Linda

We have been throwing around the idea of purchasing iPods at the high

What types of things have classrooms done with them? Have you come across
any problems and is Apple willing to help?Besides the iPods, what kind
of hardware will we need to get started? Do you have any other suggestions
that you can offer?

I got my letter last week and it has me down for a whopping 5 licenses. On
the original forms that we sent in, it has the purchase dates from May 1994
to June 2006 (July 2002 to June 2006 for state and local governments). On
the letter that they sent me, it only has the dates of July 2002 to June
2006 for eligible products. Did anyone else notice this on their letters?

Re: [info-tech] workstation service

2005-03-08 Thread Tom and Linda Huseman

I can't do that.  My network ID button is
there, but it won't let me click on it.  It says that the
Network  is not installed.

  Just run the network
ID wizard, this should reconnect it.

  As to what made it
disappear, I dunno, I’ve had a few machines do that within a few days of first
  connecting them.

I've got an XP Pro machine that
does not log on to the network as of today.  I have discovered that it is
missing the workstation service in the services folder.  Does anyone know
how I can add this again?  I have tried a couple system restores from
previous days when the machine was working properly, but that didn't make a
difference.  I have not been able to find any reference to it on
Microsoft.  What made it disappear in the first
  place?

  Thanks,

Re: [info-tech] text messaging

2005-02-22 Thread Tom and Linda Huseman

I have blocked some sites by adding the word
messaging to my filter list, but I don't think that is going to catch them
all.  You wouldn't believe all of the free text messaging sites on the web
that are available other than your cell phone provider.  Thanks for
everyones suggestions, I will give them a try as well.

  I
know you can text message to a cell phone by using the web site of your cell
phone service.  I can send a message from uscellular.com if I enter my
cell phone number and the number of the phone I want to send to.  If you
can find out the web site(s) they are sending from, you can probably add the
  site(s) to your firewall.

  I
assume you are not talking about Instant Messaging like MSN Messenger, Yahoo
Messenger, or AOL Instant Messenger.  I have those sites blocked with my
firewall already.  There are probably others, but I have not found any
that install on the local machines.

  We use email or
sometimes just note in mail box if not an
  emergency.

  Another question for
  everyone

  Are you all a school
employee so you are in building all day?

  I maintain the
network as a part time job and am very seldom in the building during school
  hours.

Re: [info-tech] students and email

The second response should be we do "not" allow
student access to any email unless it is for a college course that they are
taking.

Would like to know from you this
fall – Do you:
1.
Issue email accounts to
students?
2.
Give students access to their personal hotmail
accounts from school?

I’ll send out these
results.

Thanks,

C.
