I've listened to the recording with headphones, as recommended. At 4:16 into the video the male speaker uses a phrase which pretty much indicates that the language is Japanese (ano... dookaku no) which roughly translates as no matter what... in English. He is using more intonation than what is commonly used in the monotone-styled Japanese language, but this is possibly an attempt to make the speech more interesting for a radio listener. My own opinion is that the speech is Japanese, although other TP-DXers may have further comments (especially in how the program matches up to the NHK2 archives). BTW, I lived in Japan as a high school brat (1967-69). 73, Gary DeBock (in Puyallup, WA) -Original Message- From: Tim Tromp kilok...@gmail.com To: irca irca@hard-core-dx.com Sent: Mon, Sep 30, 2013 6:34 pm Subject: [IRCA] TP from Michigan: More audio posted I appreciate the comments regarding my first reception of presumed Japan on 747 on Sunday morning. Hi everyone - a fun session today, with some stations I haven't heard previously, and others that were stronger than I had heard them before. Can someone let me know what the most likely CC speaking station is that I was hearing under 774 JOUB at 13:23 this morning? I suspect Wuhan, only because it has the most powerful transmitter. [IRCA] TP DX for Tuesday October 1
Conditions here were down a bit from yesterday. There were quite a few stations to be heard, but the big guns were weaker than normal, and the rest were mostly near their normal signal strength. 603 continues to amaze me for its total lack of audio here. Gary for some reason keeps getting amazing receptions there like the one he posted this morning, but I seldom hear more than a carrier. Oddly enough, the carrier is about as strong as JOAK-594 many mornings; but it just doesn't produce anything. [IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 10-1 (Conclusion)
Hello All, Thanks again to Michael Yule for his very interesting TP report this morning from Lions Bay, BC. Like Michael I had a fun session this morning, with two Chinese low-band stations exceptionally strong. Both 603-China (Hulun Buir?) and the 639-CNR1 synchros produced their strongest audio ever heard here, with the PL-380's S/N display being briefly pegged on 603 at 1314 (Chinese male-female conversation) and on 639 at 1308 (fast-paced news by male and female Chinese announcers). 603-HLSA was also at a fairly strong level throughout the session, resulting in a wild mix with 603-China at times. The Japanese and Korean big guns on 594, 747, 774, 828, 972, 1053 and 1134 (KBS) seemed to be about as strong as yesterday, with very good audio, in and out. After receiving the exceptional low band signals from China early in the session I was looking for some more strong Chinese domestic station audio on 756, 918, 927, 936, 945, 981 and 1035, but apparently the unusual propagation was limited to the low band. The other Chinese domestic stations were only fair at best, with 936 (Anhui) and 981-CNR1 the best of the bunch around 1345. Like Michael I had only one frequency to choose at a time, so for a 1400 TOH recording I concentrated on 738-BEL2, and missed Michael's fine signal from 963-CRI at the time. 738-BEL2' s signal strength was down a little at 1400 but the splatter from 740-KCBS was gone, so I was able to record a fairly decent TOH signal from Taiwan. As for Michael's other signals I did have pretty strong audio from 603-HLSA around 1332, playing an apparent Korean singer-covered version of the old Rolling Stones' Hit I Can't Get No Satisfaction. With the Chinese co-channel pestering HLSA all session long, maybe the song's title was perfect for the situation? Overall it was a very exciting session, and hopefully an indication of great Asian conditions in store for October. 603 China (Hulun Buir?) Best signals ever heard here at 1314, with strong female-male Chinese conversation pegging the PL-380 S/N readout http://www.mediafire.com/listen/dd3n2qmdo8242tb/603-China-1314z100113PL380.MP3 603 HLSA Namyang, S. [IRCA] 1640 report
Jim Renfrew, Holley NY For the last several nights on 1640 ... ESPN - WTNI (relog) Weather - Penn DOT (relog, though I think there are a bunch of these) Oldies - probably KZLS (previously logged as KFXY) Does Disney simulcast from coast to coast, or are there time zone shifts? I've been trying to match 1560 WQEW to 1640. I have KDIA from quite some time ago, on 1630 and 1640 if my mind is still reliable. Need UT and OR on 1640. 1640 would be OR #1 if I can snag it, and state #48. Guess which states will be #49 and #50? Unless my yahoo assemblyman and state senator succeed in seceding WNY from the rest of the state. Too many tin foil hats circulating around here. My vote for the new state name is the old Seneca word De-loo-shun. ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
Re: [IRCA] TP DX for Tuesday October 1
Hi Bruce, Thanks for your detailed TP report today (and always), which always provides a very interesting comparison. Well, it works both ways, Bruce. Almost every morning you report some good-level TP's that never a manage a trace here (567 and 819 this morning, for example). Those two were probably lost in the Seattle 570 and 820 splatter here-- victims of a $50 radio's version of DSP filtering. For some unknown reason, this location seem to provide a boost for low-band Chinese signals, while yours and Dennis' seem to favor Japan. Nick seems to get the best of both worlds, although we haven't yet heard from him today. 73, Gary -Original Message- From: Bruce Portzer bport...@comcast.net To: Mailing list for the International Radio Club of America irca@hard-core-dx.com Sent: Tue, Oct 1, 2013 5:45 pm Subject: [IRCA] TP DX for Tuesday October 1 Conditions here were down a bit from yesterday. I'd recalled seeing an off-channel carriers on 1575 during the interesting TA evenings a week or so ago, and checking my Perseus recording from the 26th I was indeed seeing one about 30 Hz low, with another pretty much on nominal.I guess we'll have to wait for some more TA action to hopefully learn more. 73, NIgel Pimblett Dunmore, Alberta On 28/09/2013 8:46 PM, Nick Hall-Patch wrote: well, I dunnoit's gone now; wonder if it was a spur, because there was a carrier about 30Hz low when it was in.on the other hand, it is gone, and it's sunrise in the UAE y gosh, audio on 1575, music and man talkingbut I'm not sure I can match it up with Farda's webstreamit's sunrise in UAE best wishes, Nick ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
[IRCA] Alberta TP/DU for 1 Oct 2013
October began with an OK, but not exceptional day. Listened from 1245 to 1320, and the only sign of Chinese DX here on the prairie was a decent off-freq carrier on 1206. That peaked early though (about 1250), and faded thereafter. Japan was pretty good today though. The best signals were from the regulars, the Japanese on 567, 594, 693, 747, 774, 828 and Korea on 972 and 1566.At the second tier, still fair audio, up to good at times, was Japan on 702, 873, and 1287 along with 1575 VOA. Presumed Japan on 1422 had traces of audio at 1315 and the NHK time pips were quite distinct on 639 at 1300. Only other audio was a very weak unID on 837 with audio traces at 1254. 73, Nigel Pimblett Dunmore, Alberta ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

Yes, it's JJ Michael. HLAZ broadcasts to Japan from 1230 to 1345UT every morning (well, evening their time), complete with a directional array; the transmission beams past Japan and down western North America. best wishes, Nick At 16:29 01-10-13, you wrote: ... 1566 HLAZ 1343 Slow piano mx, YL speaking in JJ, lots of splatter but intelligible. Part of a slow deterioration (shortly to become more drastic judging by the recent burp in the solar wind), but still some reasonable signals if you hunted (quite fertile territory around 1400UT if one had the time; more Chinese than yesterday).Just way too erratic, and too much domestic splatter to be entirely pleasant however.
