[IRCA] Alberta TPs for 6 September 2016

2016-09-06 Thread Nigel Pimblett
Another primarily DU morning, but this time a couple of
Asians managed to join the fun. With the exception of 4BC, which had
the best signal of the young season, the other audio was all pretty
marginal:

549 unIDtraces of man talking at 1227
576 unIDtraces of talk by a man at 1214
594 JOAKTokyo, JAPANCaught a few words in Japanese by woman
at 1229.
612 4QR Brisbane, AUST Weak, with man talking at 1223
774 3LO Melbourne, AUST Very weak, with man speaking at 1223.
792 4RN Brisbane, AUST Talk by man at 1212. In/out until 1230
1116	4BC	Brisbane, AUST	In a class by itself this morning. Faded
up/down during the 1200-1230 session, but was up to good level with 100%
copy for several minutes at a time.
1566	HLAZ	Cheju, KOREA	In audio for a couple of minutes around 1230 with
talk, then Christian music.

[IRCA] Reversible Super Loop

2016-09-06 Thread Donald Barnes via IRCA
--- Begin Message ---
Greetings,

I finally got a 47' x 22' corner fed super loop back up and operational. It is
in use with a FLG 100ln. The antenna is directed at ~304 deg. I wonder if I can
make it reversible a la reversible DKAZ antennas I have read about. The other
end would be directed at ~124 deg, nigh perfect for Latin America. I was
thinking about another FLG 100ln on the other end. Any insights would be
welcome.

Thanks!

Where you can post virtual any document, schematic (in PDF) or sound file

Re: [IRCA] Testing ease of functionality - long logs and soundbytes

2016-09-06 Thread R. Colin Newell
I can add DOC types to .doc, .txt and .pdf.

Here is the thing - you can type as much text into the forum as you want.

One of the points is: You do not need to attach your LOG as a ZIP file or
DOC or PDF because
there is unlimited text space in the forum.

Re: [IRCA] Testing ease of functionality - long logs and soundbytes

2016-09-06 Thread R. Colin Newell
Thanks for the suggestion - edited out some items -

Again, I do this to battle the endless swarm of forum spammers -
If I did not complicate the registration process ever so slightly I would
get 100's of auto-bot registrations
per day and hundreds of forum spams filling my database.

Spam is something that easily must waste a billion dollars in people hours
in the constant clean-up.
As you can see in my forum - the notes are everywhere. DO NOT SPAM - Forum
has an auto-moderation on the
1st few posts. Once the forum gets comfortable with you, you can post
freely.

Whomever thought up spam should be strung up.

Not sure what you were doing to avoid spammers but asking for the following
information irked me:

   - address

- phone number

- date of birth

- web site

Surely you can think of something to avoid spammers that doesn't involve
personal information.

[IRCA] Testing ease of functionality - long logs and soundbytes

2016-09-06 Thread R. Colin Newell
Looking for beta testers to see if this format is user-friendly enough to
use in a possible
future version of this IRCA list -

Steps:

a.) Register over here -
http://www.dxer.ca/index.php/settings?view=registration

b.) Login and go over here -
http://www.dxer.ca/index.php/kunena/logs-and-soundbytes/topic/create

c.) Post your logs and upload your MP3 sound bytes (up to 1 Mb...) I can
increase this limit as high as I like.

This is just a test -- and you can use any old log book and any sound byte
- Just seeing how friendly it is with the resources at hand.

I'd lean against Iran as : they are on a half hoyr offset so would not have

Subject: [IRCA] Nova Scotia Logs

Hi all - conditions seemed somewhat better last night. I'm hoping someone
with better knowledge of ME languages than I can help me ID the following
log - I believe it's probably IRIB, but I'm not sure as I couldn't find
anything on YouTube that matched and there are no // frequencies. The other
alternative is Algeria but the programming doesn't seem to match what I
would expect from Chaine 2. OTOH there are time pips and I can't find
anything that indicates IRIB uses them, and I can't ID the word "Iran" or
"Tehran", which I would expect to be able to. Chaine 2 uses I believe 5+1
time pips, and this is 4.

Any help would be most appreciated!

2. ALGERIA R Adrar 1089 kHz 2358-0003 UTC: mostly AA program before TOH with
some FF, FF after. Brief mx selections, commentary by man before, woman

station on the frequency that would have this programming. I should also
note that the UK started fading in around 0058 UTC and was dominant by 0258..
That is the station I am used to hearing on thi sfrequency.

3. CANARY ISLANDS esRadio (Radio Las Palmas) 1008 kHz 0458-0503 UTC. SS

Thanks very much again for anyone's help on the recording!

Re: [IRCA] Nova Scotia Logs

2016-09-06 Thread James Renfrew
Keep in mind that in Iran the top of the hour is at the 30 minute mark for
us. Look for a distinctive interval signal followed by martial music. Many
of these are parallel so under the right conditions you can pick off a fair
number of new ones. Go to Interval Signals On Line to find sound clips. I
learned this while DXING in Cappahayden Newfoundland. Jim Renfrew,

Hi all - conditions seemed somewhat better last night. I'm hoping someone

anything on YouTube that matched and there are no // frequencies. The other
alternative is Algeria but the programming doesn't seem to match what I
would expect from Chaine 2. OTOH there are time pips and I can't find
anything that indicates IRIB uses them, and I can't ID the word "Iran" or
"Tehran", which I would expect to be able to. Chaine 2 uses I believe 5+1
time pips, and this is 4.

Any help would be most appreciated!

1. IRAN (tent.) IRIB Radio Khalij-e Fars 693
kHz 0258-0303 UTC (recording starts at 0259). ME mx, time pips and
announcements by woman starting at 0259:45. Brief program intro mx @TOH.

2. ALGERIA R Adrar 1089 kHz 2358-0003 UTC: mostly AA program before TOH with
some FF, FF after. Brief mx selections, commentary by man before, woman
after. Even though I heard no indisputable ID I think that this is the only
station on the frequency that would have this programming. I should also
note that the UK started fading in around 0058 UTC and was dominant by 0258.
That is the station I am used to hearing on thi sfrequency.

3. CANARY ISLANDS esRadio (Radio Las Palmas) 1008 kHz 0458-0503 UTC. SS
language mx and announcements. 'esRadio and Radio Las Palmas' ID's at TOH,
the latter sung.

Thanks very much again for anyone's help on the recording!

Michael
