The same is true up here in Santa Barbara but they're still strong during
the day. I couldn't agree more with Tim.

XESS has had a weaker signal here in Orange County at night for the past
month or two. I can hear KTAR easily now and I have heard a tentative on
KIGS in Portuguese.

XESS has a much weaker signal these days. Locally they're getting
hammered by KOGO's IBOC, which makes them one of the few stations to

actually DESERVE it. The folks that run all of these stations are
essentially pirates in my book... 73 Tim

I think you are referring to the Mexican station across the border from San

I show them as XEKIT ..

I dont include Mexicans in my pages... (too many and very unreliable info)

I think Mexican logs are available from the IRCA bookstore

Anybody know what the calls are for this station? I've never heard them ID,
their website doesn't mention them, and they are missing from

Tim,

I am not excusing the XEs for all of the stuff they do. Not at all, but
is it right "our" IBOC is QRMing so many XE's, and the Canadians too.
They have done nothing to deserve this. I am sure IBOC hash does not
stop at the border. I am surprised the XEs/Cubans are not starting a
jamming war. I have heard, it "has" been discussed. Lets just hope that
does not come to pass, but I would not blame them.

Yep, they're (at least!) 10kW and very directional, putting tons of signal
up the California coast and not nearly so much to the east (though they
are still widely heard). The engineering parameters for this station are
rather, um... creative. They ID a lot more often these days, but only in
Spanish. I almost always catch an ID around 6am.

10 KW Day + Night.
