[IRCA] 970 Question

2012-12-12 Thread Niel Wolfish
I have been spending a lot of time on 970 lately while semi-local WNED (soon to
be WDCZ) in Buffalo NY is currently off the air.

Most evenings WGTK Louisville KY is the dominant station.  Meanwhile at
sunrise, WFUN Ashtubala OH seems to be on top until my local mixing
product/image created by 1010-CFRB and 1050-CHUM shows up.

This evening at 1936 ELT I heard somebody with "Everybody Talks" by Neon Trees,
which I understand is currently at #33 on the Billboard Hot 100.  It sounded
like the entire song, as opposed to a snippet, so I don't think it was "bumper
music".  After playing back my recording, over the next 20+ minutes of
listening, the only thing IDable on 970 was WGTK, somebody playing The Beach
Boys "Little Saint Nick" (that could be anybody at this time of the year) and
"Super Freak" by the late Rick James (who was from Buffalo).

I'll probably regret asking this... Does anybody have any ideas who the station
on 970 playing Neon Trees might have been?  WAMD In Aberdeen MD looks like it
'might' be a possibility... but who knows?

Thank you and 73

Paul,

They are basically talk & sports. But they have Tom Leykis with the Wine
program. I hear come comedy from time to time. A different kind of talk
format.

You can find "AM 970 - Solid State Radio - Portland" (KCMD) online at
http://www.970.am

They do have a local show, 11am to 3pm weekdays. Another show they run is
semi local, 11pm to 3am originating from 97.1 Free FM in Los Angeles.

They apepar to be primarily talk.

Don,

970 Portland seems to run a bit of everything these days from Comedy,
talk, sports, etc. A bit odd for a big city station. In some ways,
closer to the old KOIN of the 50s/60s.

Don,

I think Portland is using Fox Sports as I have heard it on there at
times too. But I have only heard it in the evenings.

[IRCA] 970 Question ?

2007-05-06 Thread The Kaskey Family
The other night I stopped on 970 for a bit & found a Fox Sports Net
station atop. Who is this? Last I heard KESP in Modesto was ESPN
Sports NetHas Portland or Bakersfield switched to FSN? Just
curious. Never heard FSN on 970 in the last few years.
