[IRCA] KHMO-1070: Future DX Test?

2008-05-05 Thread Stephen S. Howe

To Jim Pogue, Paul Walker, and others:

Based on the CE's friendliness to DXers and a 5 kW daytime power,
KHMO would seem to be a possible target for next season's DX Tests,
especially with CBA gone. Any thoughts?

It should have disappeared at about 9:25 Eastern time. My friend is their
Chief Engineer and I was on the phone when he called up the remote control
at KHMO, lowering power and changing to proper pattern.

They were accidentally stuck on day power/pattern after the power change
computer locked up. They are on night power and pattern now

That's exactly my point... since Gary is a "by the book kinda guy", this
obviously was not intentional. A one-time automation glitch, with no intent
to break the rules, will not result in any repercussions for him or his
station. And the chances of anyone other than DXers even noticing are
virtually nil.

Patrick.. and they always will be, so long as Gary is their CE. He's a
great guy and approached nicely, loves to talk to people... and gladly
responds to reception reports. Why? Because he knows how downright rude
some stations can be about it.. and treats people better then that.

2012-02-11 Thread Russ Edmunds
But on the other hand, given that there is a legitimate possibility of DX Tests
here, I think that evens things out.

Most of us have not been in a situation where there's a possible conflict
between one's job running a station and one's hobby of DX'ing, so I'm not going
to second guess here. I would've missed it anyway as I wasn't up - a DX Test I
can plan for.
