Re: [IRCA] NRC Radio Log
NRC log is great for the price! In the old days the Vane Jones guide was the DX bible but as nice as that book was, it did not include addresses. The last Whites Radio Log that I bought was way out of date on many call changes. HIGHWAY RADIO by William Stank has a neat format showing the stations location on a map of each state. Do they even print the Broadcasting Yearbook anymore??? I think the internet may have rendered that one useless. It had oodles of info in it. --Mike Sanburn From: mwd...@webtv.net Date: Sun, 13 Sep 2009 22:51:26 -0700 To: irca@hard-core-dx.com Subject: Re: [IRCA] NRC Radio Log I like a hard copy log nxt to the radio. I also use the heck out of Barry's website. The fuzzy call lookup is simply amazing. It normally deciphers about 90 percent of my sound like calls. I wish that there was a site as good as that for FM, with Slogan search and so on. Paul, the FCC db is nice to for power/pattern info. I also use CityData for strongest stations heard. If you hear an ad for a town that the station isn't located in, you can usually see if the suspect station is audible in that town. 73, Dave in Indy -- Message: 9 Date: Sun, 13 Sep 2009 23:42:39 -0500 From: Paul B. Re: [IRCA] NRC Radio Log
I use radio-locator because it shows me what towns the station covers and the distance it gets, the FCC stuff doesnt really give me that. City-Data is not terribly accurate on strongest stations heard. It once told me an AM Daytimer in Pittsburgh, PA put a good signal into Pembina, ND along the North Dakota/Canada border.
