[IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 3-11
Big gun Asian signals showed some good energy from 1300-1400 here, but seemed to fizzle with increasing daylight. The NHK powerhouses on 594, 693 and 747 along with 972-HLCA reached very good levels from 1320-1400, and 603-HLSA managed one of its better sessions of the entire new year with brief fair peaks around 1338. Its 558-HLQH parallel also was stronger than usual (poor to fair) around the same time, while a presumed 738-BEL2 also managed fair peaks in and out of the San Francisco splatter in the predawn darkness. In contrast with yesterday the high band was relatively subdued, with only the regulars on 1566 and 1575 managing stable audio at times. Overall the session wasn't bad at all for March, although the complete lack of any sunrise enhancement after 1400 left signals floundering in mediocrity. By 1420 only paltry signals from 594, 693 and 972 were in evidence, with the more obscure TP's having bailed at the first sign of daylight. 603 HLSA Namyang, S. [IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 3-11
Hello All, Well, propagation giveth and then propagation taketh away. What started off as an excellent-sounding band at 1310 took a general swoon around 1340, leaving only a few Japanese big guns and 1566-HLAZ to finish up a disappointing session. After yesterday's Asian propagation fireworks I'm sure that everyone was looking for a repeat, and at my 1310 start time it certainly looked like the band would deliver. There were potent signals once again from the big guns on 594, 693, 747, 828 and 972, as well as a good signal in and out from 1566. Second-tier Asians were managing weak audio as well on 558, 603, 657, 738, 1044, 1323, 1503 and 1593, and the overall situation seemed exactly like yesterday's around 1315. Unfortunately that was the high point, though, and the Asians started a downhill slide from there. Both 603-HLSA and 738-BEL2 had been managing some weak audio around 1315 but were long gone by 1340, as well as 657-Pyongyang and 1044-CRI. Almost everything except the low band NHK big guns had packed it in by 1400, leaving only 594-JOAK, 693-JOAB, 747-JOIB and 828-JOBB to sink into anemia without a trace of sunrise enhancement. 1566-HLAZ was also one of the last diehards to survive the 1340 UTC swoon, but hardly at a vibrant level. The sorry collection of survivors sunk into the noise around 1415, finishing up one of the most dramatic propagation swoons in recent memory. 594 JOAK Tokyo, Japan NHK1 weather report at a good level by animated Japanese male around 1358; one of the few Asians to sound healthy after 1340 http://www.mediafire.com/listen/0oxcc428pe998ac/594-JOAK-1358z031115CCSW.MP3 73 and Good DX, Gary DeBock (in Puyallup, WA, USA) 7.5 loopstick C.Crane Skywave Ultralight + 15 FSL antenna ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
[IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 3-11
Hello All, Asian results this morning were kind of a watered down version of yesterday, with many of the same TP's showing up, but at weaker levels. Whereas peak Asian propagation yesterday seemed to be from 1300-1345 during predawn darkness, this morning's best signals appeared after a moderate sunrise enhancement boost kicked in around 1400. Like yesterday the band had some fair propagation prior to 1300, with 594-JOAK, 603-HLSA, 693-JOAB, 738-BEL2, 774-JOUB and 972-HLCA all in and out with fair signals around 1255 (along with 1566-HLAZ, with a very good signal). Unfortunately, except for the NHK big guns on 594, 693 and 774 the low band TP's seemed to be stuck at the same fair level throughout the entire session, rising in and out of the noise without much energy. Sunrise enhancement after 1400 brought in five more Asian mainland stations to join this anemic collection-- 603-China (usually under HLSA), 639-CNR1, 648-Russia, 657-Pyongyang and 936-Anhui. None of these stations were very vibrant (like several TP's were yesterday), but 594-JOAK, 693-JOAB, 747-JOIB, 774-JOUB and 972-HLCA all hit fairly good peaks briefly between 1400-1420. With the exception of 1566-HLAZ's very good signal (around 1255) the high band was also didn't seem to have much energy, with 1377-CNR1, 1503-JOUK, 1575-VOA and 1593-CNR1 showing ! up occasionally in the domestic splatter, but only reaching fair levels at best. Best signal of the morning was from 1566-HLAZ during the predawn darkness at 1255, although both 594-JOAK and 972-HLCA had brief peaks of good audio around 1400 as well. If not for yesterday's superb session this morning's Asian propagation might have seemed pretty decent, but unfortunately it paled by comparison. 73 and Good DX, Gary DeBock (in Puyallup, WA, USA) C.Crane SWP 7.5 Slider loopstick Ultralight + 12 Experimental FSL antenna ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

Hello All, Nick wasn't the only one who noticed the unusual signal from 1575-VOA this morning. While almost all of the other Asians stayed down in the noise, Thailand had one of its best signals of the entire long-running DX season, peaking around 1407 with its typical male-female Asiatic language news. While 1575-VOA was pounding in the other TP's sounded comatose, with only 1566-HLAZ managing poor audio in and out around 1410. 1575-VOA is apparently getting some type of weird propagation boost recently, possibly related to the upcoming spring equinox. 1575 VOA Ban Rassom, Thailand Very good Asiatic language news in and out at 1404; its best signal yet for 2013 here http://www.mediafire.com/?kixzlh2c1c41yj7 73 and Good DX, Gary DeBock (in Puyallup, WA, USA) C.Crane SWP 7.5 Slider loopstick Ultralight + 8 Medium Wave FSL antenna (DXing indoors) ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
