Hello All,

This morning's TP reception included a strong signal from 738-BEL2
(Taiwan
Fisheries), providing a chance to record the new Tecsun PL-380's DSP
filter
 options during actual TP-DXing.

The recording linked below has the PL-380 receiving 738-Taiwan at 1443
UTC,
in the face of some splatter from 740-KCBS in San Francisco. The MP3
starts with the PL-380 on the 2 kHz setting (for the best combination
of audio
and selectivity), then steps briefly down to 1 kHz-- followed by
approximately 5 seconds in the 6 kHz, 4 kHz, 3 kHz, 2 kHz and finally
the 1 kHz DSP
filter options. This recording was made with a signal boost provided by
an
experimental 9' sided PVC box loop.

The recording is dramatic in showing the effectiveness of the 7434 DSP
chip
in providing outstanding selectivity (for a $45 radio). Hopefully it
will
be of interest to prospective purchasers.
