Re: [IRCA] KDOW 1220 Palo Alto CA, running high power?
Dennis, Thanks for the clarification. It looks like 1220 will stay fairly clear here for the future. With KCCS running lp at night and all of the Western Canadians gone, 1220 can be quite decent if cx are good. I wouldn't be surprised to see KDOW refill for the CP. Paul On Sunday, November 3, 2013, Dennis Gibson wrote: > CPs are not renewed. Re: [IRCA] KDOW 1220 Palo Alto CA, running high power?
CPs are not renewed. It is good for three years and the FCC doesn't grant extensions like it used to. When it expires you have to start the process all over again. KDOW runs an all business format and I can't imagine the ratings are anything to write home about. The new facility would have been a four tower DA. Building and operating it would have been extremely expensive. https://licensing.fcc.gov/cdbs/CDBS_Attachment/getattachment.jsp?appn=101322561&qnum=5120©num=1&exhcnum=1 A 2005 application for a CP said it was a daytimer. I didn't know that. There are just a handful in California. The only one that comes to mind immediately is 1310 in Crescent City. Re: [IRCA] KDOW 1220 Palo Alto CA, running high power?
The 26th NRC Radio Log shows an application by KDOW (at the time KNTS) for U4 5 5, which in the 27th Log is upgraded to a CP. It stays in the NRC Log through the 33rd edition, but in the current 34th has been dropped. 73 Bill Dvorak Madison WI -Original Message- From: Patrick Martin To: Neil Kazaross ; IRCA ; NRC Sent: Fri, Nov 1, 2013 10:19 pm Subject: Re: [IRCA] KDOW 1220 Palo Alto CA, running high power? Did KDOW drop the CP for 50 KW on 1220? It was listed earlier. Hopefully they did drop it as 1220 is still a decent DX channel here except for the off and on splatter from KVAS 1230. I heard OH quite often. Maybe KDOW was just on 5 KW day power as they were pretty strong.
