Re: [IRCA] Tx site change applications into FCC

2009-03-16 Thread Patrick Martin
Nick,

I talking to 1550 and 1600's CEs years ago, they are basically aimed
at the Lower Mainland anyway. They would rather move the whole operation
into Vancouver, but are licensed to the US. I think they both mainly
sell Vancouver as I doubt there are many listeners in the US. I am sure
they feel the competition that RJ 1200 brings. They want LOCAL
coverage in Vancouver. From Bellingham there is probably some fading in
the Lower mainland.

Patrick

1550 used to be Bellingham back in the day if I remember right!? I DO remember
logging a DX test of KOQT back in the 70s.

KRPI's change is described on the FCC site as MINOR CHANGE TO A LICENSED
FACILITY , Bill.if moving the antenna to Point Roberts on the Canadian
border and upping nighttime power from 10 to 50 kw is minor, Lord help us if
they ever ask for a major change.Heck, they might as well have asked for
moving the site into metro Vancouver, BC.

but it would possibly mean less interference to us in Victoria...though
perhaps not to the point of hearing 4QD-1548 regularly again.

best wishes,

Nick

2009-03-15 Thread Paul B. Walker, Jr.
Technically, moving the transmitter site and increasing power really is a
minor change. A station can now actually change it's COL and move 30khz
either way and still be considered a minor change.
