Boycott Israel [IslamCity] What Does Islam, Quran and Hadith Teacher for Muslims who Medically Cannot Fast?

As Salaam Aliekum!

I have enjoyed reading the many post in which excellent instruction is
given via Hadiths, Quran on the subject of Fasting for Ramadan. Vut I
have not yet seen any one address the fact that there are Muslims who
wish to observe Ramadan, but for Medical reasons are unable to
Fast..what can these perosns do in order to find themselves in
complaince with Ramadan, the Quran and Hadiths teaching on this? I
have asked many others about this topic and I find that they stumble
giving a sound response. When we present the teachings of the Pillairs
of Islam, I beleive we should address all that is said about
fulfilling them.

I pray someone in the Electronic Muslim Ummah is knowledgeable of this
matter and will adress it.

Thank you kindly!

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Gazans wonder if the world is blind as well as deaf -al-ahram,cairo

2006-09-18 Thread S A Hannan

Condemned to desolation
On the brink of starvation, reports Erica Silverman,
Gazans wonder if the world is blind as well as deaf

Hundreds of desperate parents swarmed lists of coupon numbers tacked
to the walls of the UNRWA relief centre in the Beach Refugee Camp of
Gaza City Sunday, nervously trying to locate their assigned lot to
collect emergency food packages only being offered to families with at
least 11 members.
"There is not enough food in Gaza; even we at UNRWA are struggling to
get the food in," warned John Ging, director of the UN Relief and Works
Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in Gaza, as he toured the relief
centre. UN workers urgently tossed bags of flour from supply trucks and
stacked bottles of oil in efforts to alleviate what Ging described as a
"desperate and unprecedented" crisis.
UNRWA began its emergency food distribution 10 September, one week
later than planned due to the closure of Karni, Gaza's only commercial
crossing. "There must be a solution at the crossing points. We need
international help to open up Gaza to a civilised existence," asserted
Ging. UNRWA feeds 830,000 of Gaza's 1.4 million residents, and one-third
of the food required for the emergency distribution is still outside of
Gaza.
"It is not just about bringing in containers of humanitarian
assistance. It is about restoring the Gazan economy," said Ging, calling
for the implementation of the Agreement on Movement and Access brokered
by US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice last November and that
stipulates that all border crossings to Gaza will remain open.
President Mahmoud Abbas announced from Gaza Monday that he had
reached an agreement with Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh to form a unity
government between Fatah and Hamas. The current Hamas-led government
will be dissolved within 48 hours and a new prime minister will be
appointed, said presidential spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeinah Monday.
However, it remained murky, till Al-Ahram Weekly went to print,
as to how Hamas's political programme would change exactly.
Abbas was under great pressure to reach an agreement since he will go
before the United Nations 22 September and the Quartet will meet 1
October.
British Prime Minister Tony Blair urged Hamas to form the unity
government during his visit with Abbas Sunday in Ramallah in a bid to
resuscitate the peace process, although he reiterated the government
would only be accepted if Hamas met the Quartet's conditions of
recognising Israel and renouncing violence. Blair did not meet with
Hamas officials.
Speaking after Friday prayer at a mosque in Rafah, Haniyeh said,
"when we form the unity government we shall see if the siege is lifted,
although the goal of the Western world is to see Hamas out of
office."
Gaza's commercial and passenger border crossings were sealed 25 June
after an Israeli soldier was kidnapped by Hamas and have opened only
sporadically since. The kidnapping prompted Israel to launch a 12-
week-long incursion into Gaza, purportedly to rescue its captured
soldier and to halt the launching of Qassam rockets into Israel.
According to the Palestinian Authority (PA) Health Ministry, as of
Monday, 272 Palestinians have died and 1,463 have been injured as a
result of Israel's incursion.
Poverty and desperation have gripped Palestinians in Gaza as their
economy has been buried by international sanctions against the Hamas-led
government and Israel's decision to withhold, in violation of the Paris
Protocol, $54 million in monthly tax revenue owed to the PA. The
groundwork for Gaza's economic crisis was laid in the closure of the
crossings, prohibiting imports and exports. However, since Israeli
destroyed Gaza's only power station 28 June leaving residents,
businesses, and hospitals without electricity and water, the situation
has become unbearable.
Gaza residents are still living in darkness. According to Rafiq
Maliha, project manager of Gaza Power Generating Company, an agreement
has been signed between the PA and an Egyptian construction company to
import transformers, although Gaza's residents still await Israeli
permission for the equipment to enter. It will take weeks to begin the
repairs and only 35 per cent of the plant's total capacity can be
restored anyway.
Gaza's economy continues to die slowly from the effects of the 28
June

Elizabeth, now Safia Al Kasaby, 43, lives in Tampa, Florida. She is a former sergeant first class of the US Air Force National Guard. She lost one uncle and seven cousins in the attacks on the World Trade Centre. Her grandfather was a Jew and her grandmother was Catholic. Safia said that in 1997, nearly destitute, she approached a synagogue in North Tampa for help. Officials at the shul wanted to know if
she was a member. She was not. They asked her if she was really Jewish. She became disillusioned and for eight years she did not participate in organised religion. She found Islam in 2005 on the third day of a Moroccan vacation. At first, Safia’s family didn’t take her seriously and some colleagues at her banking job made fun of her new attire. She dared not pray at work. Mostly, Safia kept her new faith at home, learning about her religion on web sites and Islamic chat rooms. After a meeting with an imam at the Islamic Society of Tampa Bay Area in June, Safia felt more at ease with her new faith. But some in her family are reluctant to accept her new faith. Her eldest daughter, Sylvia, wants little to do with her. A
Baptist and young military widow, Sylvia berated Safia when she showed up at her husband’s funeral wearing a Hijab. At home, Safia raises two daughters. Ten-year-old Natalia says her mother’s religion is cool. Ada, 18, appreciates Safia’s transformation and doesn’t put up with people who make fun of Islam or stereotype Muslims. “I say, ‘Wait a minute. My mom’s a Muslim,’” Ada said. “She’s not a terrorist.” Safia says she looks forward to the day when her religion is not an issue.Like other Muslims, Safia feels the tension all around her: curious stares because she wears the Hijab or head scarf and store clerks who ask for extra identification. Just last month, officials at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo turned down an initial request from Safia's Egyptian fiancé for a temporary visa. Safia was certain bigotry played a role. Her new faith also has widened the chasm among her Christian family. Her mother, three sisters and one of her daughters question her choice.
Safia presses on.Some demographers consider Islam to be the fastest-growing religion in the world. Of the 1.3-billion Muslims worldwide, 4.7-million live in the United States, according to the Association of Religion Data Archives. One of the world's oldest religions, Islam has been in the United States for generations. But the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, thrust the religion and its adherents into the spotlight. Before the attacks, American Muslims largely kept to themselves. Now, many feel the public expects them to answer for the actions of those who commit heinous acts in the name of their faith.Across the country, some Muslims complain of stereotyping, racial profiling and discrimination. Others pine for the days when Islam was rarely mentioned in headlines. Most dare not complain openly, religious and civic leaders say, for fear of being labelled unpatriotic or sympathetic to extremists.Opinion polls back up what American Muslims say
they feel every day: Masses of the U.S. populace view them negatively. In a USA Today/Gallup poll released in August, 39 percent of Americans said they feel prejudiced toward Muslims. Nearly one quarter of Americans polled said they would not want a Muslim as a neighbour. Another 39 percent want Muslims to carry special identification at all times and undergo enhanced security checks when boarding airplanes.Safia hopes the world will see her as an example of what Islam really is. Still early in her conversion, she is a Muslima in transition. She studies the Koran and prays five times a day. She also wears makeup and has French-manicured acrylic nails. Sometimes she covers and sometimes - when she fears heckling or worse - she does not. She looks forward to the day when her religion is not an issue. "I don't want to have whispers behind me, whispers in front of me," she said. "I want to be able to blend in, keep my faith and blend
in."Comment:InshAllah may Allah swt make it easy for all Muslims to practice our way of life in this post 9/11 climate where Islam has replaced Communism as the biggest threat to the Capitalist way of life and as an alternative which Bush and Blair see on the horizon with the imminent return of the Caliphate. http://islamic-education.blogspot.com/

BENEDICT XVI. His real name is Joseph Ratzinger and he was born into a
traditional Bavarian farming family in 1927 and his father was a policeman.

He is from the Germany
which has produced Hitler, the main warmonger of Second World War. The Protestant-Christian-Germany and
Catholic-Christian-Italy together with Buddhist-Japanese started the Second
World War. The Jewish-Controlled-Protestant-Christian-USA, Jewish-Communist-Controlled-Orthodox-Christian-Russian

the Buddhist-Japanese. 45 million
people died in the Second World War 1939-1945 due to the war fought between
Christians and Buddhist.

In
reality he is Pope of Faggots (Homosexuals) and Lesbians because the
Catholic-Christianity does not allow their Male-Priest and Female-Nuns to marry
and due to this Inhuman-Christian-Way-of-Life the Priest and Nuns are usually
involved in Sexual Perversions of Homosexuality and Lesbianism.

Christians killed

Wars which was also started by Pope-Urban in 1099 and in Jerusalem
(Baitul-Muqaddas) they killed 70,000 Muslims. The Christians waged Crusade Wars
against Muslims for more than 200 years

On Tuesday,
 12 September 2006, the Evil-Pope of Inhuman-Christianity gave a
speech in University of Regensburg,
 Bavaria, Germany
and insulted Prophet Muhammad SAWS, Islam and Quran. Please read the extract
below from the attached evil-speech:

I was
reminded of all this recently, when I read the edition by Professor Theodore
Khoury (Münster) of part of the dialogue carried on - perhaps in 1391 in the
winter barracks near Ankara - by the erudite Byzantine emperor Manuel II
Paleologus and an educated Persian on the subject of Christianity and Islam,
and the truth of both. It was presumably the emperor himself who set down this
dialogue, during the siege of Constantinople
between 1394 and 1402; and this would explain why his arguments are given in
greater detail than those of his Persian interlocutor. The dialogue ranges
widely over the structures of faith contained in the Bible and in the Qur'an,
and deals especially with the image of God and of man, while necessarily
returning repeatedly to the relationship between - as they were called - three
Laws or rules of life: the Old Testament, the New
Testament and the Qur'an. It is not my intention to discuss this question in
the present lecture; here I would like to discuss only one point - itself
rather marginal to the dialogue as a whole - which, in the context of the issue
of faith and reason, I found interesting and which can serve as the
starting-point for my reflections on this issue.

In the seventh conversation (*4V8,4H -
controversy) edited by Professor Khoury, the emperor touches on the theme of
the holy war. The emperor must have known that surah 2, 256 reads: There
is no compulsion in religion. According to the experts, this is one of
the suras of the early period, when Mohammed was still powerless and under
threat. But naturally the emperor also knew the instructions, developed later
and recorded in the Qur'an, concerning holy war. Without descending to details,
such as the difference in treatment accorded to those who have the
Book and the infidels, he addresses his interlocutor
with a startling brusqueness on the central question about the relationship
between religion and violence in general, saying: Show me just what
Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and
inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he
preached. The emperor, after having

HOW MUSLIMS CAN RESPOND TO THE POPE'S FAKE ''APOLOGY''

Assalamu aleikum.

The Pope has - through someone else - mentioned that he regrets that
certain parts of his rant could have sounded offensive to the
sensitivities of the Muslim faithful.

Tha's a lot like regretting that certain parts of kicking in
somebody's face could have sounded offensive to that person's
sensitivities.

The Pope simply thinks he has Muslims on a rope. The reason for his
smugness is that he knows that while he insults Rasulullah (S.A.W.),
we Muslims cannot return the insult by defaming Jesus (A.S.) in
return; for Jesus (A.S.) is a Holy Prophet and Messenger of Allah
(S.W.T.) and his person is inviolable to Muslims. Indeed, christians
have often expressed frustration that it is Muslims who show up to
protest films that insult Jesus (A.S.) while the christians stay home.

But the Pope is wrong in thinking that effective retaliation is not
possible.

There IS an effective way to respond, one that not only does not
insult Jesus (A.S.), but vindicates him as a human prophet of Allah
(S.W.T.) while directly contravening the Son of God baloney and
making a laughingstock of the Pope and his cannibal cult in the bargain.

Here's how.

Islamic Community Net has often noted before that Christianity is a
cannibal cult - and that the Roman Catholic church headed by the Pope
is the epicenter of that cannibal cult that also includes Orthodox
Christians and Anglicans as well as some Protestants.

The Pope and his christian sect believe that during the daily or
weekly christian ceremony called the Mass that wafers of flat, white
unleavened bread circles are magically converted into the actual
living flesh of Jesus (A.S.) (ychhh!). (Yes, read that again,
there is no typing error). The magically transformed wafer of
unleavened bread is called the Eucharist.

For a photograph of Eucharists, see:
http://www.catholicpeople.com/catholic/Eucharist.jpg

In addition, wine is magically converted into the actual living
blood of Jesus (A.S.) (double ychhh!). Please bear closely in
mind that the Catholics don't think that this is mere symbolism at all
- they truly believe that they are drinking the actual living blood of
Jesus (A.S.) and eating his actual living flesh!

From the Roman Catholic Cathechism (the first article below):
Under the consecrated species of bread and wine Christ himself,
living and glorious, is present in a true, real, and substantial
manner: his Body and his Blood, with his soul and his divinity

That's rather pathetic, violent, ignorant unnatural and SICK doctrine,
and as has often been explained by Islamic Community Net, this
unnatural and irreligious doctrine is the source of much christian
violence against the rest of the world, especially Muslims.

Anyone who is first made to voluntarily descend into the humanly
debased pit of cannibalism can be made to voluntarily engage in any
other depravity - including the Crusades (both Middle Ages and today).

But that unnatural christian horror (called the Eucharist) also
provides a convenient nonviolent means of effective retaliation
against the Pope's insults against Rasulullah (S.A.W.), and it soes so
without insulting Jesus (A.S.). Far from it - this retaliation makes
clear that Muslims regard with utter disgust the christian vampire
cannibal cult that insults Jesus (A.S.) by presuming to eat his flesh
and drink his blood.

The bread that magically becomes the living actual flesh of Jesus
(A.S.) is distributed free to anybody who shows up to get one at any
Mass, on Sunday or otherwise. This happens about 20 minutes or more
into the Mass. People line up and go to the front where they kneel
before the priest and chow down on the actual living flesh of the
false God with which they have replaced Jesus (A.S.).

But anyone could go there, accept in the mouth, and push it to the
side of the mouth and remove it from the church. Once accomplished,
all kinds of interesting things could happen to the Eucharist.
Stomping on the Eucharist, nailing the Eucharist to a cross,
sticking the Eucharist with needles voodoo style: the list of
possibilities goes on and on. Before anyone does this, call the church
to make sure that they are not one of the churches that first dips the
bread wafer into the wine (the vast majority of churches don't do this
and when they do it is given as a soft cube, not as a wafer).

Perhaps you will choose to retaliate this way. Or perhaps you'll pass
on this message to someone else who might do so. But if you do, here's
the most important part:

Don't forget - make ABSOLUTELY SURE that you don't forget, because
this is the main point of this particular exercise - that when you're
done, you ask someone else to describe exactly what you have done and
express on your behalf to the Roman Catholic Church your regret that
certain parts of your activities could have sounded offensive to
the sensitivities of the christian faithful.

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Unity of the Ummah

2006-09-18 Thread S.A.R. Adil
UNITY OF THE UMMAH

As Salam Alaikum wa Rehmathullah,

And those who disbelieve are allies of one another, (and) if you
(Muslims of the whole world collectively) do not do so [i.e. become
allies, as one united block under one Khalifah to make victorious
Allah's religion of Islamic Monotheism], there will be Fitnah (wars,
battles, polytheism) and oppression on the earth, and a great
mischief and corruption (appearance of polytheism) Al-Anfal 73.

The pride we take in being the best of People chosen for the benefit
of mankind (3:110) and for having been blessed with a Deen that
Allah has perfected and completed His favour upon us by giving it to
us (Al-Maidah 3) is entirely justified, but just like how power
without responsibility is more harmful than beneficial, so too our
Deen that comes to us with a promise of Jannah but does not exclude
us from being severely tested and held accountable for not living up
to the responsibility reposed on us by the Creator, both in this
World and the Hereafter.

We are singularly a people on whom lies the onus of disproving the
present day accepted norms, practices and values. We bear the burden
of proving how Islam is perfect and the only religion acceptable to
Allah SWT. Anything even slightly in conflict with the Quran is
completely unacceptable to us. We have the unenviable responsibility
of standing by the Commands of Allah even at the cost of being
labelled dogmatic, intolerant, violent and all the other titles that
are heaped upon us.

I believe there is a need for us to stop and reflect why it is so?
It is easy for us to feel victimised and develop a siege mentality.
We feel so frustrated at the unfairness of it all and as a result
fight back with all our might in an effort to dispel the wrong
notions people have about our great religion. Of late there are more
and more from amongst us who are taking to writing, organising
seminars and creating platforms for inter-faith dialogue and a lot
more. One has to say this is good and I am sure it is also helping
some what in offsetting the stereo typing of the Muslims. Awareness
about Islam is growing by the day and statistics show there are more
and more people embracing Islam. Amazingly this is happening at a
time when Islam is at its weakest and is generally perceived as a
backward and violent religion. The question is how can this
contradiction be reconciled?

I believe we have to understand that for any answer, one first needs
to have a question and as a Muslim Nation, we have never felt the
need to question ourselves. We are rarely willing to look inward and
certainly unwilling to give the benefit of doubt to others for their
erroneous perceptions about Islam and Muslims. The best of our
efforts today are directed towards explaining how we are not any of
those things that they perceive us to be, rather the need is for us
to show why we are none of those things people associate with us.

When we say, we are the best of people, we argue that it is so
because Allah has said so, whereas the need is for us to demonstrate
our superiority by emitting an Islamic character that is based on
honesty, integrity, truthfulness, uprightness and trustworthiness.

When we say, Islam is a religion perfected by Allah, hence the best
religion; we again make the point that Allah has said so, whereas
the need is for us to show the enormous benefit there is for the
World from Islam.

It should not be difficult for us to understand that it is in human
nature to adopt and accept something only if he/she finds there is
something in it for him/her that is superior to what she already
has. There are certainly those who will find Islam superior simply
because it is logical and answers the contradictions they find in
their own Scriptures.

In this age of communication and Information, there are more and
more people who have suddenly become aware of Islam as a religion
that is different and somehow compelling for others to learn more
about it. Unfortunately the how of Islam being a superior religion
has become a cause for more and more people embracing Islam but at
the same time leaving a larger number of otherwise unconcerned
people with a hostile attitude towards it. Conversely had the why of
Islam being a superior religion been a cause for people to embrace
Islam, then the results would have been different. There would have
been a larger number of people embracing Islam and even those who
did not would certainly not have had ill will or dislike for Islam.

I plead with my brethren Ummah to recognise this contradiction and
focus their efforts more and more towards correcting this anomaly by
building a Society that is based on Islamic values. A system that
demonstrates Universal Islamic Brotherhood and a mechanism that
prevents one from benefiting at the expense of other; rather it
looks at equity in the distribution of wealth. It takes away the
capitalistic mindset of

The remarks do not express correct understanding of Islam Mohammed Mahdi AkefMuslim Brotherhood Stressing that they were not his own words, he quoted Emperor Manual II Paleologos of the Byzantine Empire, the Orthodox Christian empire which had its capital in
what is now the Turkish city of Istanbul. The emperor's words were, he said: "Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." Benedict said "I quote" twice to stress the words were not his and added that violence was "incompatible with the nature of God and the nature of the soul". 'Angry and hurt' Pakistan's parliament passed a resolution demanding that the Pope retract his remarks "in the interest of harmony between religions". READ THE SPEECH Read the Pope's speech [37KB] Most computers will open this document automatically, but you may need Adobe ReaderDownload the reader here "The derogatory remarks of the Pope about the philosophy of jihad and Prophet Mohammed have injured sentiments across the Muslim world and pose the danger of spreading acrimony among the religions," the AFP news agency quoted the resolution by the country's national assembly as saying. In India, which has a sizeable Muslim population, Minority Commission Chairman Hamid Ansari said: "The language used by the Pope sounds like that of his 12th-Century counterpart who ordered the crusades... "It surprises me because the Vatican has
a very comprehensive relationship with the Muslim world." The remarks prompted fears of unrest in Indian-administered Kashmir, as a result of which two separatist leaders were put under house arrest. Meanwhile, the "hostile" remarks drew a demand for an apology from a top religious official in Turkey - where the Pope is due in November on his first papal visit to a Muslim country. Ali Bardakoglu recalled atrocities committed by Roman Catholic Crusaders against Orthodox Christians and Jews, as well as Muslims, in the Middle Ages. In Egypt, Muslim Brotherhood head Mohammed Mahdi Akef said the Pope's words "do not express correct understanding of Islam and are merely wrong and distorted beliefs being repeated in the West". In a statement, he was "astonished that such remarks come from someone who sits on top of the Catholic Church which has its influence on the public opinion in the West". Sheikh Youssef al-Qardawi, a prominent Muslim
cleric in Qatar, rejected the Pope's comments, in remarks reported by Reuters. "Muslims have the right to be angry and hurt by these comments from the highest cleric in Christianity," Mr Qardawi reportedly said. "We ask the Pope to apologise to the Muslim nation for insulting its religion, its Prophet and its beliefs." The 57-nation Organisation of the Islamic Conference also said it regretted the Pope's remarks. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/5024324.stm"Strive as in a race to achieve the goal of excellence in all that you do."For real insights visit:http://www.geocities.com/mewatch99/Regards,Nashid

Daniel Freeman-Maloy staged two unauthorized protests at the York University campus in Toronto with regard to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In 2004, York president Lorna Marsden suspended Freeman- Maloy for three years, without a tribunal hearing. The student was banned from campus and not allowed to register for
classes. Freeman-Maloy applied successfully to the courts to sue Marsden and the York board of governors for "misfeasance in public office." Marsden and York officials argued that the president of a university cannot be considered a public officer. But in March 2006, Ontario's Court of Appeal declared that she was a public officer, paving the way for a damages suit from Freeman-Maloy. The York officials then sought permission from the Supreme Court of Canada to appeal the Ontario Court of Appeal decision. In a decision released Thursday, the Supreme Court rejected their application with costs, but, as is customary, did not offer a reason. York recently released an updated Student Code of Conduct, with new regulations addressing student conduct on campus
and the process of dealing with students who break such regulations. The revision followed a year of consultations. Marsden was a member of Canada's Senate between 1984 and 1992. Success in whatever we do depends on how clear we are
on the objectives we want to achieve and how well we plan for
it. Even a recreational activity such as going on a vacation
takes much planning. It is not feasible for a person to simply
just get up and depart to a vacation destination without
planning, especially if one wants to have a good vacation or
  recreational activity.
For example, if one is going to Disney World, usually
planning is done months in advance of the trip. In addition to
making traveling and accommodation arrangements, people
consult friends, read literature and research on how to get
the most benefit while there. Time and effort is spent
deciding beforehand as to which rides should be given
preference, which shows should be watched and which sites or
theme parks should be visited, in what order and at what times
of the day so that one can get the maximum benefit at minimum
cost in reasonable time. People make significant efforts to
plan the trip because it means so much to them to make such a
  trip.

What does Ramadhaan mean to you? Does it mean more to
you than going for a vacation? Are you mentally and
psychologically ready to attain all the goodness and blessings
Ramadhaan has to offer? Are you then spending enough time and
taking pains to plan how can you get the most benefit from the
  opportunity Ramadhaan affords you?

Some people do plan for Ramadhaan, but that planning is
only to the extent of who to invite for Iftaar, where to go
for one, what special foods to prepare or how to get the best
deal on dates and iftaar delicacies. But is this the type of
outcome that is the objective of
  Ramadhaan?

The objectives of Ramadhaan are to:

  *
  Increase
  our Taqwa
  *
  Make
us more charitable – both financially and in our social
  dealings
  *
  Develop
patience and will power to resist temptations

  *Prepare
us for our life-long Jihaad to remain steadfast on the path of
  Allaah’s obedience
  *Strengthen
our relationship with the Holy Qur-aan, celebrate its
  revelation; and
  *Thank
Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta`aala for guiding us so kindly.

  So,
what are the action plans you want to undertake during
Ramadhaan so that when it departs, you have seen significant
growth in your Taqwa, you are more giving, more patient, more
able to resist personal desires and temptations, more involved
in life-long Jihaad and more tuned to the Qur-aan?

  Ramadhaan
is a wonderful opportunity to help us fine-tune our normal
patterns of behaviour thereby changing us for the better. We
can ask ourselves the question: What areas of our personality,
attitude, behaviour, daily routines and lifestyle, etc. do we
need to change to bring us closer to the Islamic standard?

  What
aspect of your life have you decided to improve on during this
Ramadhaan and how do you plan to achieve this
  improvement?

ISLAMIC CRESCENT OBSERVATION PROJECT: NO RAMADAN SEPT. 23

Assalamu aleikum.

The following article deals the final decisive death blow to ISNA's
moon calculation fitnah. ISNA had falsely claimed that September 23
would be the first day of Ramadan based on its worthless
calculations. In Islam, the moon must be sighted and the new month
cannot be based on astronomical calculations. But even astronomically,
Ramadan cannot begin on September 23rd and must begin no earlier than
September 24th.

LONDON — The Islamic Crescent Observation Project (ICOP) has said that
the first day of the holy fasting month of Ramadan will astronomically
fall on September 24.

The first day of Ramadan cannot be Saturday, September 23, as the
moon will not be present in the sky after the sunset on Friday,
September 22, ICOP Head Mohammad Odeh said in a statement cited by
the London-based Al-Quds Press news agency.

Thus, the first day of Ramadan cannot be Saturday whether in
countries that depend on moon sighting to determine the beginning of
the month or in those which start fasting if the crescent was born
even if not seen, he added.

Odeh said the crescent can be sighted on Saturday by an observatory
from South East Asia, the Middle East, North and Central Africa and
North America.

He added that the crescent can be observed by the naked eye in far
parts in southern Africa and South America.

Countries that will not be able to sight the crescent on September 23
will start fasting on Monday, September 25, Odeh said.

The ICOP, established in 1998 as a global project, primary aims to
gather information about the crescent observations at the start of
each lunar month in different countries and regions across the world.

Its membership has expanded over the years to include now up to 300
astronomers and scientists.

Conference

The ICOP, in cooperation with the Emirates Astronomical Society and
the Center for Documentation and Research, will organize on December
13-14 in Dubai a conference on divisions in moon sighting and false
starts in some countries due to miscalculation.

Moon sighting has always been a controversial issue among Muslim
countries, and even scholars seem at odds over the issue.

One group says that Muslims everywhere should abide by the lunar
calendar of Saudi Arabia.

A second, however, believes that the authority in charge of
ascertaining the sighting of the moon in a given country (such as
Egypt's Dar al-Iftaa [House of Fatwa]) announces the sighting of the
new moon, then Muslims in the country should all abide by this.

During Ramadan, adult Muslims, save the sick and those traveling,
abstain during daylight hours from food, drink, smoking and sex.

2006-09-18 Thread Abdul Wahid Osman Belal

Apropos of the news captioned "Pope benedict questions concept of jihad". Does the Pope need to be reminded that one of his predecessors had his finger in the pie of "crusades" against the Muslims and its consequences. Moreover in the words of a historian they were described as the "maddest episodes of history". The need of the hour is not to add fuel to the fire of "clash of civilizations" and evangelical so-called "war against terror" seen as dominance of the Mulim world and its resourcesbut instead rally the forces ofthe Crescent, Cross and Star of David all together for a "jehad" in order to promote virtue and prevent vice, against all forms of disease, exploitation, hunger, injustice, cruelty, deprivation, greed, oppression, poverty, suffering, tyranny, illegal

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] The Pope In All His Holiness Says - 'Islam Was Spread by the SWORD'

2006-09-18 Thread Alan Border

“O ye who believe! Take not into your intimacy those outside your ranks: They will not fail to corrupt you. They only desire your ruin: Rank hatred has already appeared from their mouths: What their hearts conceal is far worse. We have made plain to you the Signs, if ye have wisdom.” (Al-Qur'an, 3:118 Aal-E-Imran [The Family of Imran]) Pope Invites Dialogue With MuslimsBy VICTOR L. SIMPSON, Associated Press Writer Tue Sep 12, 5:17 PM ET http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060912/ap_on_re_eu/germany_pope_visitREGENSBURG, Germany - Pope Benedict XVI said Tuesday that Islamic holy war was against God's nature and invited Muslims to
join in a peaceful cultural dialogue. In a speech at Regensburg University, Benedict made an unusual reference to jihad, or holy war — a concept used by today's Islamic extremists to justify suicide bombings and other attacks.Benedict's address was about faith and reason, and how they cannot be separated and are essential for "that genuine dialogue of cultures and
religions so urgently needed today."Citing historic Christian commentary on holy war and forced conversion, the 79-year-old pontiff quoted from a 14th-century Byzantine emperor, Manuel II Paleologos."The emperor comes to speak about the issue of jihad, holy war," the pope said. "He said, I quote, 'Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.'"Clearly aware of the sensitivity of the issue, Benedict added, "I quote," twice before pronouncing the phrases on Islam and described them as "brusque," while neither explicitly agreeing with nor
repudiating them. "The emperor goes on to explain in detail the reasons why spreading the faith through violence is something unreasonable," Benedict said. "Violence is incompatible with the nature of God and the nature of the soul," the pope said, issuing an open invitation to dialogue among cultures. The Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Federico Lombardi, said the pope was not giving an interpretation of Islam as "something violent" although he said the religion contains both violent and nonviolent strains.Benedict did not touch directly on the current controversy over Islamic extremism, although it is an issue he follows with concern. Last year in Cologne, Germany, he urged Islamic leaders to take responsibility for their communities and teach their young to abhor violence.Last week, he told a gathering of Christian, Muslim and Jewish representatives in Italy that no one can "use the motive of religious difference as a reason or pretext for bellicose behavior
toward other human beings." Benedict will make his first visit to a Muslim country in November, when he is scheduled to travel to Turkey.Gerlinde Axmann, a 40-year-old social worker, watched Tuesday's speech on one of the large screens set up in a square near the cathedral."That was a very important start to dialogue with Muslims amid the terrorist threat," she said, calling Benedict's appeal to reason "a building block toward finding a way to argue with each other without using weapons." "I think it's very important for him to bring these things up in society," she said. "Muslims aren't
going to take us seriously until we become conscious of our own values. For example, they take the pope much more seriously than others in the West."Benedict earlier celebrated Mass for some 230,000 people, the second-largest crowd of his six-day homecoming tour, which ends Thursday. From atop the altar platform, the pope looked over a throng dotted with blue-and-white Bavarian flags and the yellow-and-white Vatican banners. In discussing faith and reason, Benedict in his sermon at Mass scoffed at the idea of a "mathematically ordered cosmos" without any hand of God. He said this would mean "nothing more than a chance result of evolution." "We believe in God. This is a fundamental decision on our part." Eva Renz dozed in the sun as she waited for the pope, having been on the road since 3 a.m. with her husband and six children. "His presence is important because he is a representative of Christ," she said. "I brought all the children because it's important for them to see this huge crowd and all the joy." Some people turned out in spite of disagreeing with Benedict's conservative stands such as his opposition to ordaining women and
married men. Machine shop worker Kurt Kellner, 40, came to the Mass but was skeptical about whether Benedict would win him over. "I know his positions, they're not entirely my opinions. I want to take part in the event," he said, calling Benedict "relatively good" as pope. "He knows how to move people," he said. In his speech at the university, where he once taught theology, Benedict stressed that "a reason which is deaf to the divine and which relegates religion into the realm of subcultures is incapable of entering a dialogue of

But the plurality of opinions does not mean that we depriveourselves of the civility that God demands from us. America is ourhome and will always be our home. Its interests are ours, and itspeople are ours. When you talk of killing of Americans, you first have to kill 6 million or so Muslims who will stand for everyAmerican's right to live and enjoy the life as commanded by God.By growing a beard, shouting some religious slogans and misquoting and misusing some verses of the divine scriptures, you cannot incite Muslims to do things that are contrary to our religion. Yes,
you even fail to understand the basic Islamic principles of life and living. Islam demands peace in all aspects of life, Islam demands respect for life. Islam demands justice. What you are doing in Iraq, Afghanistan, India or other parts of the world is anti-human and anti-divine. You are an enemy of Islam as much as you are an enemy of America. You must understand that God who entrusted you with life is the same God who spelled his spirit in every human being regardless of his or her religion orethnicity or nationality or status. You are violating him.We feel totally disgusted with your action and we condemn you without any reservation. Don't come to our mosques to preach this hatred. Don't visit our Islamic centers to spill the blood of innocents. Don't think that just because we share the samereligion, we would show some sympathy to you. You are not ofus. You don't belong to the religion whose followers are
trying to live a peaceful life for themselves and others serving the divine according to their understanding. In our understanding offaith, you appear as anti-divine and anti-human. We reject you now as we rejected you yesterday. There is nothing common between you and us.We stand for life, you want to destroy it.We accept the divine scheme of diversity in the world and you want to impose conformity. We respect every human being simply because he or she is a creation of the divine, and you hate people based on their religion and ethnicity. We support freedom and liberty and justice, and you promote bigotry, murder and strangulation. You will never be able to find a sympathetic voice amidst us. Our differences with others will never lead us to do things that are fundamentally wrong in our faith, i. e. taking the lives ofinnocent people and killing others because they are
different. So on Sept. 11, when you will be hiding in your caves, we will be out in the streets paying tribute to those who you killed because you failed to see the beauty of life. We will condemn you once again the same way we have been doing ever since 9/11 because we are Muslim Americans.Aslam Abdullah is director of the Islamic Society of Nevada. Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Muslims Assail Pope's Comparison of Islam With Christianity

“O ye who believe! Take not into your intimacy those outside your ranks: They will not fail to corrupt you. They only desire your ruin: Rank hatred has already appeared from their mouths: What their hearts conceal is far worse. We have made plain to you the Signs, if ye have wisdom.” (Al-Qur'an, 3:118 Aal-E-Imran [The Family of Imran]) Muslims Assail Pope's Remarks on IslamBy SUZAN FRASER, Associated Press Writer http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060915/ap_on_re_mi_ea/pope_muslimsANKARA, Turkey - Turkey's ruling Islamic-rooted party joined a wave of criticism of Pope Benedict XVI on Friday, accusing him of trying to revive the spirit of the Crusades with remarks he made about Islam. Muslim leaders in the Middle East expressed dismay, and
Pakistan's parliament unanimously condemned him. The Vatican said the pope did not intend the remarks — made in
Germany on Tuesday during an address at a university — to be offensive. The pope quoted from a book recounting a conversation between 14th century Byzantine Christian Emperor Manuel Paleologos II and a Persian scholar on the truths of Christianity and Islam."The emperor comes to speak about the issue of jihad, holy war," the pope said. "He said, I quote, 'Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached,'" he quoted the emperor as saying. He did not explicitly agree with them nor repudiate them.Turkey's top Islamic cleric, Religious Affairs Directorate head Ali Bardakoglu, asked Benedict on Thursday to apologize
about the remarks and unleashed a string of accusations against Christianity, raising tensions before the pontiff's planned visit to Turkey in November on what would be his first papal pilgrimage in a Muslim country.Bardakoglu said he was deeply offended and called the remarks "extraordinarily worrying, saddening and unfortunate."On Thursday, when the pope returned to Italy, Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Federico Lombardi, said, "It certainly wasn't the intention of the pope to carry out a deep examination of jihad (holy war) and on Muslim thought on it, much less to offend the sensibility of Muslim believers." Lombardi insisted the pontiff respects Islam. Benedict wants to "cultivate an attitude of respect and dialogue toward the other religions and cultures, obviously also toward Islam," Lombardi said.On Friday, Salih Kapusuz, a deputy leader of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's party, said Benedict's remarks were either "the result of pitiful ignorance" about Islam and its prophet, or worse, a deliberate distortion of the truths. "He has a dark mentality that comes from the darkness of the Middle Ages. He is a poor thing that has not benefited from the spirit of reform in the Christian world," Kapusuz blurted out in comments made to the state-owned Anatolia news agency. "It looks like an effort to revive the mentality of the Crusades."In Beirut, Lebanon's most senior Shiite Muslim cleric denounced the remarks and demanded the pope personally
apologize for insulting Islam. "We do not accept the apology through Vatican channels ... and ask him (Benedict) to offer a personal apology — not through his officials — to Muslims for this false reading (of Islam)," Grand Ayatollah Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah told worshippers in his Friday prayers sermon.A Lebanese government official said the country's ambassador to the Vatican has been instructed to seek clarifications on the pontiff's remarks. In neighboring Syria, the grand mufti, the country's top Sunni Muslim religious authority, sent a letter to the Pope saying he feared the pontiff's comments on Islam would worsen interfaith relations. And in Cairo, about 100 demonstrators gathered in an anti-Vatican protest outside the capital's al-Azhar mosque. Pakistan's parliament unanimously adopted a resolution condemning the pope for making what it called "derogatory" comments about Islam, and seeking an apology from him Pakistan's Foreign Ministry also called the pope's remarks "regrettable." "Anyone who describes Islam as a religion as intolerant encourages violence," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam said. "What he has done is that he has quoted very offensive remarks by some emperor hundreds of years ago," Aslam said. "It is not helpful (because) we have been trying to bridge the gap, calling for dialogue and understanding between religions."
She said Muslims had a long history of tolerance, adding that when the Catholic kingdom of Spain expelled its Jewish population in 1492 they were welcomed by Muslim nations such as the Turkish Ottoman Empire. Benedict, who has made the fight against growing secularism in Western society a theme of his pontificate, is expected to visit Turkey for a few days, starting Nov. 28. He was invited by the staunchly secularist Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer, who said the invitation

for the pontiff to retract his remarks. "These remarks are unacceptable and demonstrate ignorance of the Muslim faith," Mohamed Kanaan, the chief judge of the Supreme Shari`ah Courts in Lebanon, told the Doha-based Al-Jazeera channel. The remarks only play into the hands of those seeking to tarnish the image of Islam." In what some Vatican watchers see as a watershed speech to academics on Tuesday, September 12, Benedict had portrayed Islam as a religion which endorses violence, where faith is "spread by the sword". Using the words, "Jihad" and "Holy War" in lecture at the University of Regensburg, he quoted criticism of Prophet Muhammad
(peace and blessing be upon him) by a 14th Century Byzantine Christian emperor. "Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached," Benedict quoted Manuel II. In Morocco, the daily Aujourd'hui said the pope's remarks have upset a million Muslims around the globe. "The global outcry over the calamitous cartoons (of Prophet Muhammad) has only just died down and now the pontiff, in all his holiness, is launching an attack against Islam," it said. Last September, a series of lampooning cartoons of
Prophet Muhammad printed by a Danish daily and republished by European newspapers sparked a global outcry. The daily urged the pope, as political leader of the Roman Catholic Church, to "quickly prove that his ambition is not to spark a war of religions." Hatred Chief judge Kanaan asked Pope Benedict to retract his insulting remarks. "He must apologize," he told the Doha-based broadcaster. The remarks have also drawn fire from Turkey's highest religious authority, reported Agence France-Presse (AFP). "The remarks reflect the hatred in his heart. It is a statement full of enmity and grudge," Ali Bardakoglu, the head of Turkey's religious affairs directorate, told the NTV news channel. "It is a prejudiced and biased approach," he added. Bardakoglu said the pope was not welcome in Turkey unless retracting his remarks. "I do not think any good will come from the visit to the Muslim world of a person who has such ideas about Islam's prophet. He should first of all replace the grudge in his heart with moral values and respect for the other." Pope Benedict is expected in Turkey on November 28-30 on an invitation from the Turkish government and the Ecumenical Orthodox Patriarchate in Istanbul.
In 2004, the pontiff caused a stir by opposing Turkey's accession into the European Union. He said Turkey should seek its future in an association of Islamic nations, not
with the EU, which has Christian roots. Bloody History Ejaz Ahmed, a member of an Italian governmental consultative committee on Islam, also criticized the Vatican pope, reported Italy's ANSA news agency. "In his speech the pope overlooks the fact that Islam was the cradle of science and that Muslims were the first to translate Greek philosophers before they became part of European history," he said. "The Muslim world is currently undergoing a deep crisis and any attack from the West can aggravate this crisis," he said. Aiman Mazyek, the
president of Germany's Central Council of Muslims, said the history of the Roman Catholic Church had violent chapters. "After the bloodstained conversions in South America, the crusades in the Muslim world, the coercion of the Church by Hitler's regime, and even the coining of the phrase 'holy war' by Pope Urban II, I do not think the Church should point a finger at extremist activities in other religions," he told the Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper. Haken
al-Mutairi, Secretary General of Kuwait's Umma party asked Pope Benedict to immediately apologize "to the Muslim world for his calumnies against the Prophet Muhammed and Islam". Mutairi hit out at the pope's "unaccustomed and unprecedented" remarks, and linked the Catholic Church leader's comments to "new Western wars currently under way in the Muslim world in places such as Afghanistan, Iraq and Lebanon". The pope's statements amounted to "the pursuit of crusades", he told AFP. "I call on all Arab and Islamic states to recall their ambassadors from the Vatican and expel those from the Vatican until the pope says he is sorry for the wrong

The Pakistani national assembly, parliament's lower house, unanimously passed a resolution on Fridaydemanding the Pope retract his remarks "in the interest of harmony among different religions of the world". Sheikh Hamza Mansour, who heads the
Shura Council of the Islamic Action Front, Jordan's largest opposition party, said only a personal apology could rectify the "deep insult made by the provocative comments" to over one billion Muslims. In Iraq, the Pope's comments were condemned at Friday prayers by followers of Shia cleric Moqtada al-Sadr. Sheikh Salah al-Ubeidi, one of Sadr's aides, condemned "the offence to Islam and the character of the prophet". Violent protests "This is the second time such an offence has been give before Ramadan," he said, referring to last year's publication of cartoons in a Danish newspaper that led to violent protests by Muslims around the

He also appealed to the Islamic world to recognise that the controversial remarks were only a "minor part" of the speech. "The pope intends to develop respect and dialogue toward other religions and cultures particularly Islam," he said.

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] IAEA protests erroneous U.S. report on Iran

2006-09-18 Thread Nashid Abdul-Khaaliq

VIENNA (Reuters) - U.N. inspectors have protested to the U.S. government and a Congressional committee about a report on Iran's nuclear work, calling parts of it "outrageous and dishonest", according to a letter obtained by Reuters. The letter recalled clashes between the IAEA and the Bush administration before the 2003 Iraq war over findings cited by Washington about Iraqi weapons of mass destruction that proved false, and underlined continued tensions over Iran's dossier. Sent to the head of the House of Representatives' Select Committee on Intelligence by a senior aide to International Atomic Energy Agency chief Mohamed ElBaradei, the letter said an August 23 committee report contained serious distortions of IAEA findings on Iran's activity. The letter said the errors suggested Iran's nuclear fuel program was much more advanced than a series of IAEA reports and Washington's own intelligence assessments have determined. It said the
report falsely described Iran to have enriched uranium at its pilot centrifuge plant to weapons-grade level in April, whereas IAEA inspectors had made clear Iran had enriched only to a low level usable for nuclear power reactor fuel. "Furthermore, the IAEA Secretariat takes strong exception to the incorrect and misleading assertion" that the IAEA opted to remove a senior safeguards inspector for supposedly concluding the purpose of Iran's program was to build weapons, it said. The letter said the congressional report contained "an outrageous and dishonest suggestion" that the inspector was dumped for having not adhered to an alleged IAEA policy barring its "officials from telling the whole truth" about Iran. Diplomats say the inspector remains IAEA Iran section head. The IAEA has been inspecting Iran's nuclear program since 2003. Although it has found no hard evidence that Iran is working on atomic weapons, it has uncovered many previously
concealed activities linked to uranium enrichment, a process of purifying fuel for nuclear power plants or weapons. IAEA spokeswoman Melissa Fleming said: "We felt obliged to put the record straight with regard to the facts on what we have reported on Iran. It's a matter of the integrity of the IAEA." Diplomats say Washington, spearheading efforts to isolate Iran with sanctions over its nuclear work, has long perceived ElBaradei to be "soft" on Tehran. "This (committee report) is deja vu of the pre-Iraq war period where the facts are being maligned and attempts are being made to ruin the integrity of IAEA inspectors," said a Western diplomat familiar with the agency and IAEA-U.S. relations.
