Kalau anda yang minta, pertanyaannya, apa untuk saat ini sudah perlu firewall? Kalau sekedar meminimalisasi kemungkinan yang tidak diinginkan, pasang sedikit mungkin IP public di server, pasang NAT dan client koneksi ke Internet via NAT atau gunakan proxy server. Pak Albert, Yang minta saya sih, dengan alasan pertumbuhan penggunaan email dan akses internet serta security issue makanya saya usulkan penambahan firewall. (Sebelumnya kita menggunakan dial up untuk koneksinya, skr mau menggunakan adsl dengan tambahan firewall tersebut maksudnya untuk mempermudah saya memanage client2 yg konek ke internet. Mungkin juga saya akan menggunakan NAT seperti yg disarankan sama Pak Rumy dan Pak Albert. Tapi, inti dari pertanyaan saya [sesuai dengan subject email] belum terjawab [jadi penasaran]. Saya pernah nyoba nyambung secara konvensional (kabel sama kabel dipilin, trus diisolasi) bisa jalan, asal nomer kabelnyanya sesuai. Tapi ada resikonya, kalau sambungan tsb ada yg short, hub bisa rusak. Note: saya lakukan di jaringan yg masih 10Mb. Pake Capler RJ45 kaya jumper gitu tapi kelemahannya kadang ada kebocoran , jadi mis.speednya100 jadi berkurang kalo diukur pake microtest. 2.Disambung langsung pake Solder , untuk yang ini tergantung kualitas solderannyasoalnya pernah saya ngalamin temennya temen saya ada yang solderannya yahud +/- 103% ( :P), bgitu diukur , Ngga ada bocor sama sekali. Sekedar berbagi... Kamu bisa menggunakan connector penyambung rj45 yang ada di pasaran.. Caranya kabel yang sekarang terpasang ga usah dipotong, kamu buat lagi kabel barunya lengkap dengan conector nya trus tinggal di plug deh easy khan.. Modem GPRS yang paling murah sekitar Rp. 1.5 juta. Kalau pake modem GPRS nggak usah pake kabel apa apa, langsung tancap di USB port. Salam Mas Arief, Bisa koq saja. cuman rawan sekali klo disambung langsung. Bisa ngeakibatkan NIC trouble tuch. Saya sudah pernah juga mencobanya. Klo mau lebih aman belikan roset saja seperti terminal telpon itu. Tapi jangan salah pasangnya, kondisinya disamain saja tinggal mau di cross apa straight. Coba cari di glodok atau m2. Mungkin harganya paling mahal 5 rb perak koq. Met mencoba yach, smoga membantu.
