Re: j2sdk 1.3.0 for sparc-linux? and for alpha??

2001-05-24 Thread Mailing Manager

Hi all,
we are going to buy a big GS80 machien with 8 processors.
After this for th epurpose of migrate it on linux, we will buy
a little dS20, dual processors alpha machine for develop.
I'm interested in using that kind of machine, with alpha processors and linux.
Of course the only thing that i need i to have a java virutal machien
compiled tfor that paltform.
Does it exist form blackdown??

Thanks

Re: j2sdk 1.3.0 for sparc-linux? and for alpha??

2001-05-24 Thread Uncle George

I cannot speak for either compaq || blackdown, but at:

http://www.compaq.com/java/documentation/1.3.1/linux/docs/release_notes.html

u will find a linux/jvm WITH a JIT for the alpha computer. It was built with
Compaq's CCC compiler, as well as their equivalent c++ compiler. And as some
recent discourse has demonstrated that the FP optimization, as well as some
integer arith is better done by the CCC compiler.

There may also be a JDK1.2.2 still around the compaq sites, also with a JIT, but I
think only in beta release.

u may also find some other alpha jvm's at http://www.alphalinux.org, but Compaq is
the only one I know of that has a usefull JIT for the alpha.

I hope this is usefull to u.
/gat

BTW when u get tired of the little ds20 machine, maybe u can ship it over here :-}

IBM 1.1.8 SIGABRT ?

2001-05-24 Thread Hari Selvarajan

Hello,

I've been running IBM's 1.1.8 on Red Hat 6.2 machines in a three-server
load-balanced configuration, as the VM for JServ 1.1.2 and GNUJSP
1.0. Every couple of days, I get the error I've appended below, which
causes the VM to shut down - JServ gets it back up all right, but we lose
session information and some angry customers in the process... This
happens on all the three load-balanced nodes. All three are identically
configured.

I wonder, has anyone had the same sort of trouble before ? I hunted around
on the IBM web site and couldn't find anything, so I thought perhaps
someone out there would have an idea.

As an aside, are there any recommendations for the ideal VM to use on a
system such as the one we're running? We use only server-side 1.1.x code
so a recommendation would be very helpful indeed. Would Blackdown's 1.1.8
do the job better ?

Many thanks,

Hari.

The trace is appended below. I apologise for its length, but here it is in
all its unedited glory:

need an FREE EJB server

2001-05-24 Thread kevin1

I need to write a j2ee application, and the time has come to grab a j2ee server.
I am looking at Jboss. We're deploying on Linux as well (yay!)
Is this a good choice?
