[JAWS-Users] Computer Working Like New

2007-04-26 Thread Donnie Parrett

Hey Guys & Gals,

For the past couple of months my computer has been running really hard. At
times it would sound
like it was getting ready to explode. I was unable to run a spy wear scan
because after a couple of
minutes the computer would start running so hard that it would automatically
shut down. I had my
son take it apart tonight and give it a good cleaning with compressed air and a
vacuum cleaner. I
couldn't believe all the goop that came out of it. Now, I can't even hear it
running at all. It is
as quite as a church mouse. The first thing that we tried after the cleaning,
was running a spy
wear scan. And guess what? It completed the whole scan with no strain on the
hard drive at all.
HALLELUJAH!!!

[JAWS-Users] Re: Jaws Says Volume

2007-04-26 Thread Ricque

Hi Victor,
If I remember correctly, it was a matter of playing with the display
resolution, and color pallet.
Iwas useing a un-supported monitor at the time, and had to move the
displayslider much higher than normal to
a display that Jaws could work with in most applications.
Sorry I can't be more specific, it's been some time ago, and I have since
changed monitors, and returned to 1024by768 display resolution.

Hi Rick,

Unfortunately I have no other version of Jaws installed on this computer
with which to work with, so that would not be an option.

If you've repaired this problem in the past, and you say it's display
related, could you possibly post the fix on list, and maybe I can try it and
see what happens.

Thanks,

Victor

[JAWS-Users] Word 2007 looking like 2003

2007-04-26 Thread Jimmy Podsim

I thought I saw a post somewhere earlier today that told one how to make
word 2007 look like word 2003. Was I dreaming or did somebody post that
somewhere and I just can't find it back? If so, could somebody send me
the info?

[JAWS-Users] Re: the programs page

2007-04-26 Thread Job Hunter

The portable version can be copied onto a flash drive and then run from
almost any computer, without having to go through the normal install
process. I have used it on client computers and it works great.

Hi Patti,
7ZIP, is a archiving utility much the same as WinZip.
The portable version means that you can run it from removeable media such a
USB flash drive.

[JAWS-Users] using JAWS with Dragon

2007-04-26 Thread ANDREW GODWIN

Greetings all,

I acquired a new client that is currently using Dragon and is interested in
learning JAWS. The only problem is that I never had the opportunity to use
dragon or Jawbone and please correct me if I was miss informed, you need
Jawbone in order to bridge Dragon and JAWS. So, my question is, is there any
one on the list that is using the combination of these three programs and if
so, would you be willing to talk to me off list. I also am wondering if
someone could email me the web addresses to the download trial version of
Dragon and Jawbone??

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions,

Andrew

[JAWS-Users] Re: Jaws Says Volume

2007-04-26 Thread Ricque

Hi Victor,
Is it possible to load a different version of Jaws, and re-check for the
problem?
Just thinking of trying to isolate the problem to a specific version of
Jaws, or something in the system.
I've experienced similar problems with other versions of Jaws,
and they seemed to be display-related.
Let me know,

Hi Rick,

The answers you seek are below...

Do you know if the open window when this happens is maximized?

Yes it is...

Is Notepad and Outlook Express the only place that this happens?

So far, yes...

Is the affected application the only one open at the time?

Yes it is, except, there was one time where there might have been a "My
Documents" window open...

Does this help you?

Personally, I'm stymied. I've never seen this happen with any other
computer, and I've set the computer's settings to match the other computers
I own, or have owned in the past.

I would have thought that maybe there might have been a setting out of sync
with my other computers, but my friend's computer is set the same way as
mine.

There is now a portable version of 7 zip up on the site along with yet

is now quite an assortment of password managers up there for you to choose

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Jaws Says Volume

Hi Folks,

A friend of mine has a problem with her Jaws and the say line or say all
commands in certain spots.

If reading a particular line or reading a document, Jaws will say the word
volume.

It does this for no apparent reason, and is pretty much random.

This has happened while she was composing an e-mail and reading a long text
file.

Jaws will sporadically say the word volume, but when we check the actual
text, the word is no where to be found.

Keep in mind that if we move through the line or text word by word, the word
is no where in sight, and the same for character by character, however, when
we continue reading it by line, or say all, it's there.

It will do this all over the document in a text file, and while composing an
e-mail, it will do it once or twice, depending on how long the e-mail
happens to be.

I do believe that Jaws may be reading something else somewhere else, but I
can't seem to pinpoint where it's getting this text from.

She is using Windows XP Pro with service pack 2, Jaws 7, outlook express 6
and the regular notepad.

Is this a bug?

Is there a fix that can be downloaded or changed in the Jaws settings?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Victor

The answer is yes, and it can be found on the programs page under the
