[JAWS-Users] Re: Jaws and ATI

2007-01-08 Thread Marsha

Hi Walt and All
First, I would like to say that the only reason I mentioned Zoomtext was
that was one of the very few places which had any information whatsoever
about the error. I do not have Zoomtext.
As I have mentioned in previous messages, Dell supposedly updated both
the sound card and the video card drivers which made no difference to the
problem.
Below is the technical information given in the error message. I still
don't understand; if the tech person has the error message, it seems like
they should know what the problem is. The error message is:

*** STOP: 0x008E (0xC005, 0xBF04161, 0xF02F70CC, 0x)
*** dcmc0d0.dll - Address BF04B161 base at BF043000, DateStamp 452d9de8

[JAWS-Users] Strange Noises and Sound Cards

2006-12-29 Thread Marsha

Hi
As I have posted before, this crazy computer crashes every so often,
definitely not on a predictable basis. When it does this there are some
awful sounds that come out of the speakers. When it crashes, the error
message says that Windows has shut down to prevent damage to system. Dell
has no idea what the problem could be. They want to reinstall Windows.
This doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I thought it might be a Jaws issue,
so I talked to Freedom Scientific yesterday. The tech was sure it was the
sound card. When I talked to Dell, they said they would replace the sound
card (aparently to appease me). Sometimes before the crash, the computer
speakers start making strange noises, such as a 2 second Donald Duck
episode, or just strange random noises. Does anyone have any ideas? BTW, I
thought if a tech person saw the error message which comes up after the
crash, they would have a pretty good idea what the problem was. If this
isn't the case, how do these error messages help? Please, any help would be
appreciated.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Strange Noises and Sound Cards

2006-12-29 Thread Marsha

Hi
  I understand what you are saying about the cleaning of the computer;
however, this is not the problem. When we had a fan which was going bad, the
sound came from the CPU: however, in this case the sound is coming from the
speakers.

[JAWS-Users] Duplicate Jaws Applications

2006-12-21 Thread Marsha

Hi Guys
Perhaps, you could help me. Sometimes when I get the message, Jaws has
encountered a problem and needs to shut down, there are two jaws
applications which need to be closed. Does anyone know why this happens?
What can be done to prevent this, if anything, from happening?
