[JAWS-Users] Re: getting rid of the top and boddem of windo message in OE Using Jaws 7.0
How to permanently turn off the Top and Bottom Edge Alert Product Name: JAWS How to permanently turn off the Top and Bottom Edge Alert Problem: When you are in a list view or in an application, your computer plays a sound when you reach the top or bottom of the list view or document. For example, in Notepad, if the cursor is positioned at the top of the file and you press the UP ARROW key, your computer plays a sound to notify you that you are at the top of the file and cannot move up any further. In the JAWS Verbosity settings, there is a setting for Top and Bottom Edge Alert, which is on by default. You can turn this setting off, and you will no longer hear the sounds to notify you if you are already at the top or bottom of the file or list view. However, there are some other areas of Windows where you will still hear the Top and Bottom Edge alerts. These alerts may be undesired or interfere with activities such as recording. If you want to disable all top and bottom edge alerts, it can be done by modifying the Default.jcf file. Solution: To permanently turn off Top and Bottom Edge Alerts, do the following: list of 8 items 1. Open the Start menu and choose Programs or All Programs, JAWS 7.10, Explore JAWS, Explore Shared Settings. 2. Locate the Default.jcf file 3. Press the RIGHT CONTEXT MENU key, navigate to the Open With choice, and select Notepad. 4. Press CTRL+F to open the Find dialog, type TopAndBottom and then press ENTER. 5. Press ESC to close the Find dialog box. The cursor will be on the line of text that reads TopAndBottom Edge Alert=1. 6. Delete the value of 1, and replace it with the number 0. The line should now read as TopAndBottom Edge=0. 7. Save the file and exit Notepad. 8. Restart JAWS for the change to take effect. - Original Message - From: Mich [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: blind-computing @googlegroups.com [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: jaws-for-windows @googlegroups.com [EMAIL PROTECTED]; jaws-users-list @googlegroups.com jaws-users-list@googlegroups.com Sent: Monday, May 21, 2007 8:14 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] getting rid of the top and boddem of windo message in OE Using Jaws 7.0 Hi all. I asked this question earlier today on some of these lists. I did get a ancer but there is one problem. The problem is that I can't seem to do all of the steps that are listed in the instructions to tern off the top of window and bottom of window and alert thing in jaws. The reason for this is because it is talking about jaws 8.0 and not 7.0 witch is the one that I have. I can't seem to do the following step in the instructions 6. Locate the Default.jcf file. I go and do that 8. Look for the line containing: [options] but I can't find the word. Can some one please help me out? What is happening is that I want to get rid of that stupid ding sound when you get to the top or bottom of a window or in OE. By doing this I am hoping to stop it saying top of window and bottom of window when I am some times arrowing through the messages in OE Jaws will say top of window and bottom of window and then that is it it won't say anything elts there for forcing me to un load jaws and then re load jaws. Some times when this happens and I re load jaws all that jaws will do after this is just make that stupid ding sound and that is it. I find this personally quite annoying. Hello Mich; I'm using Jaws 8, and the following steps did work for me. I didn't use the quotes, you can also, bring up verbosity, in each program, insert+V, and arrow to, TopAndBottom Edge Alert, and turn it off that way. If you want to disable all top and bottom edge alerts, it can be done by modifying the Default.jcf file. [JAWS-Users] Re: Making a call in Skype.
hello, another way you can answer a call is? you need to, activate the global hot keys. while in skype do the following. 1, alt+t for tools; 2, press the letter O for options; 3, right arrow until you hear hot keys; 4, now tab and make sure the enable hotkeys checkbox is checked, by default its unchecked, use the spacebar to check it, and then, tab to save. now, to answer a call, it's, alt+pageup and to hang up from a call is, alt+pagedown. - Original Message - From: Jenny [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws-users-list@googlegroups.com Sent: Tuesday, March 13, 2007 11:43 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Re: Making a call in Skype. I am kidding you max, since I know you from the other list. Here you go. 1. To answer a SKYPE call: 2. Press and hold down the ult key with your left thumb and press C. This give you a list of menu options. Use the regular up and down arrows with your right hand and press enter on answer twice. list end Jenny -- No virus found in this outgoing message. [JAWS-Users] Re: he repair functionin jaws 8
Hello all. If you'd like to put an Installation Maintenance shortcut where it usually was in the past for 7.1, do the following: 1. Hold windows key plus r, and paste in the following: %allusersprofile%\Start Menu\Programs\JAWS 7.10\tools Make sure to include the quotes. 2. Once you're in the Tools folder, hit alt plus f to get to the file menu, then w for the new submenu. 3. Arrow down to shortcut, and press enter. 4. When the box comes up for the target of the shortcut, paste the following in the edit field: MsiExec.exe /I{8A2BAD28-3D41-4258-8EC8-A1D9A5E24B01} Make sure to include the entire line. 5. Press enter and type the following in the shortcut name edit field: Installation Maintenance That should do it. Just press enter from there, and you can then close the tools folder. Now go to the start menu to jaws 7.10, get to the tools submenu, and check to see if installation maintenance is there. Hope this is helpful to some folks. this should also work for jaws 8.0. - Original Message - From: David Ferrin [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws-users-list@googlegroups.com Sent: Wednesday, March 14, 2007 3:15 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Re: he repair functionin jaws 8 You want to start a new install first. The program will detect an existing copy of jaws and ask if you wish to repair ETC. I don't now if he has the cd or not. I believe you will find it if you try to reinstall jaws from the same source that it came from in the first place.
