[JAWS-Users] Re: Progress Bar Announcements in J 7.0 & OE

2007-01-26 Thread Maria Campbell

If it's any help, I have my progress bar announcement set for every 30
seconds in the default JAWS configuration.
That way I'll get some feedback, but not annoyingly so.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Progress Bar Announcements in J 7.0 & OE

2007-01-26 Thread Maria Campbell

Donnie,
Press insert plus F2,
downarrow to configuration manager,
then alt S for set options,
then press P for progress bar. You'll be able to make changes there.
Each application has it's own configuration.
If you want to change the progress bar for all applications at once, after
pressing the insert F2 and downarrowing to configuration manager, bring up
the default JAWS settings by pressing the shift plus control plus D keys.
Any changes made there with the alt plus S keys will change all
applications.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Progress Bar Announcements in J 7.0 & OE

2007-01-27 Thread Margaret Thomas

I thought about trying Maria's suggestion, but now it seems to be
working as it should. We'll see.

After I posted, I had a thought on why JAWS might be saying 100%
twice. Control-M is for both send and receive messages, so maybe one
100% is for sending and the second 100% is for receiving. I usually
send messages immediately, so hadn't thought of the sending part. JFW
was also saying the percentages with IE, so I'll have to see if that
seems to straighten out on its own. I'd already done a cold boot so
it may be another one for the shrug column.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Progress Bar Announcements in J 7.0 & OE

2007-01-27 Thread Victor Gouveia

Hi Margaret,

One reason that Jaws might be saying 100% twice is because if you have high
speed internet, when OE checks for any mail, it must authorize your user
name and password, so it might be detailing the percentage of the
authorization.

Another reason might be that the computer is deleting the message from the
server.

For example, once you've downloaded your messages, OE must then go into your
server and delete the messages it just copied, otherwise it will keep
copying the same messages over and over again.

The same is said if you have the leave a copy of messages on the server
function.

If you are feeling terribly bored out of your mind and looking for something
to do, try disconnecting from the internet without telling the computer to
disconnect during one of your e-mail sending and receivings.

In other words, just as the messages are being downloaded, disconnect the
LAN wire from your computer, or turn off your wireless switch if using a
wireless LAN card, or press the interrupt button on your modem.

OE will tell you that the connection has failed.

At that point, reconnect your internet connection, and try downloading your
messages again, you'll notice that you now have two copies of each message
that it's downloaded.

Again, this is because OE was interrupted from downloading your messages the
last time, and OE not being able to tell the server that it's got the
messages and that it's going bye bye now.

Yes I have had this happen to me in the past when my power went out during a
message download.

I had to go through downloading and then deleting all of my wife's e-mails
again because of what I mentioned above. It was really a pain in the ass to
have to go through 400 messages, and having to delete every other one. and
having to stop every so often because you don't know if it's another message
with the same thread or a copy of the original.
Anyway, can you tell I'm feeling bored?

Victor
