[JAWS-Users] Window Error message with Jaws

2007-08-19 Thread Lennie Rinaldi
Hi All,

I had an unusual problem which I hope that someone can shed some light on.

I am using Jaws latest version 8 on Window XP SP2 Home.

I was putting my computer in hibernation when the window error sound
was heard on my speakers. I had to get my wife to look at the monitor
since Jaws quit talking.

The message went something like this:

Window Error
insufficient resources to complete the ATI

I tried the memory dump for Jaws and tried to bring Jaws back up.
That did mot work. My wife told me that the Jaws menu came up, but
Jaws was still not talking. So, with my wife's help, I hit the exit
in the menu under file and it went away. I still could not bring up
Jaws with my hotkey.

I had to do a restart to bring up Jaws and then I was able to do a
normal hibernation.

Does anyone know what the error message mean and what the solution
for it is? The only change to my computer since this problem occurred
is that 2 GB of memory was added.

Many thanks for any help.

Lennie

Hi All,

Problem solved. I did not quite have the correct error message. I
just want to share the solution with you in case anybody else runs
into this problem. As I stated, this problem occurred when I added 2
GB of memory.

Here is the information:

Update for Windows XP (KB909095)
This download is available to users running genuine Microsoft
products. Click the icon for more information.

Brief Description

Install this update to fix a situation where the computer does not
hibernate and you receive an Insufficient System Resources Exist to
Complete the API
error message.

Hope this information is helpful.

Hi,
What I ment is that no, JAWS tech support doesn't cost anything, but if you
call using the number to FS in Florida, the only cost you will have is the
cost of a long distance call. The 800 number is free just like all toll free
800 numbers are.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Spybot Found Problem

Hi All

I'd been running Spybot 1.4 using the auto run method and I think
it originally took something like an hour and a half to do its thing.
Recently, it seems to have taken less than 10 minutes and I decided to
install the JAWS scripts and try running it that way and it found 1
problem

Problem Kind
Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter.FirewallDisableNotify 1 entries
Update
Donations
1 problems found (23:42)

The XP Home firewall shouldn't be running anyway since the
firewall is in my router. Should I fix the problem or leave it alone?

By the way, has anyone heard if 1.5 is out of Beta yet?

Thanks,,

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Window Error message with Jaws

 Lennie

Hello everyone,

Due to a multitude of program errors esencially making the program
unuseable, I uninstalled Microsoft Office 2003 that we had installed on my

Well, if I go to an email address link on a website and press enter on it, I
get a message saying that the default mail client is not propperly
installed. Yes, obviously, as Microsoft Outlook was the default.

Anyway I looked through the internet options and on the programs page I
see everything but a box where I can set the default email program. I have
searched on Google and Windows help to no availe; perhaps is this box really
there just JAWS isn't reading it?

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

2007-08-19 Thread Christopher Bell
Hi Folks,

In office 2007, I am using Outlook. I am using Jaws 8.0 with the June
update on a computer with windows xp pro.

Jaws will not read many e-mails from companies like the New York Times, the
Wall Street Journal, etc. The PC cursor will not read in say all mode.
By arrowing down individually, all I get is non-uniform table and then
identification of row and column identification numbers. Occasionally I
will get som boiler plate like download pictures but not the text of the
e-mail. However, if I use the Jaws cursor, I often can read the text. This
suggests to me there is a focus problem although moving the PC cursor to the
Jaws cursor does not usally allow me to read the text. Any thoughts?
Thanks. Chris Bell

Have you tried maximizing the window and then doing a screen refresh? I don'
tuse outlook at all but see if that helps.

2007-08-19 Thread Jeffrey Shockley
Hi,
Yes, I did say that. But, I don't know if that works in Outlook 2007 since
I'm using Outlook 2002. And, that keystroke only does a sendd/receive which
checks your mail (it's like F5 in OE.)
