Sounds like you may not have the correct port settings.
 What server are you using?

[JAWS-Users] JAWS and Braille

2007-09-05 Thread Chris Hallsworth
Hi all,
Is there a way to have JAWS output information to a Braille display at
startup? I have a BrailleNote mPower and I'm finding that I have to reload
JAWS just to get it to output information in Braille as it says it couldn't
load the Braille driver even though I have it set up correctly. I'm using
JAWS 8 and my connection method is bluetooth. Thanks in advance for the
help.

It depends on who you are using to send and receive email.
Your incoming 110 port is correct, but your outgoing may be different.
Are you using ATT, Earthlink, CenturyTel Or who?

Subject: [JAWS-Users] using Jaws with blackboard system

Hi list, especially those uni students on the list. I have been having a lot of
problems accessing my uni website for my Psychology studies. The uni has began
using a thing called blackboard learning system. it uses some Java and so
obviously gives Jaws problems. Have any of the students on list been able to
master this system. I am able(with a lot of use of the Jaws cursor), able to
get into things I need to, but it is very time consuming. Have spoken to the
I.T guys at the uni. They help as much as they can, but they even say it is a
problem even for students in general, not just with Jaws.
Any tips will be helpful.
thanks Jason
P.S I have XP home and Jaws 8 and I.E 6.

yes the website is a secure checkout. You will need your credit card
information, and their should be edit boxes where you can enter your
credit card info. I'm not sertain of this because I'd never perchased

Hi, I don't have problems opening Winamp using JAWS 8.0.423, so it could be

Subject: [JAWS-Users] jaws 8 crashes frequently/is there a fix?

I couldn't tell what exactly was making my computer crash so frequently and
I'm not good at reading the event viewer to know the specifics. So a
sighted friend remote-connected and the viewer says that every crash I've
had--and there have been many of late--was a Jaws 8-related crash. I
personally am thinking it has a lot to do with this sound card that was
installed and that has been giving me grief, but my friend says the errors
aren't sound card-driver related. But I often get a freeze when either
using Jaws when opening or closing Winamp--I mean it could be the combo of
the 2 or just anything causing this freeze-up. Has this happened to anyone
and is there a way to fix it? I don't know if this will help but here's
what the screen says when event viewer was brought up:

Faulting application jfw.exe, version 8.0.2173.2, faulting module jfw.exe,
 version 8.0.2173.2, fault address 0x00129b3f.

 Hope someone has some ideas.

[JAWS-Users] e mail addresses in OE

2007-09-05 Thread rcham27
I have OE Xp and 6.0

A while ago I combined my contacts with a different identity.
Everything went well.
I have been having trouble contacting one of the addresses.
When I go to my address list, there are 36 names listed. When I go to check
the actual e mail address , by hitting alt B, to see if I am correct, JAWS
says there are only 9 names in the contact list.
My questions are 1, why is this? and,2, how do I add addresses to the
contact page?

As I search through the contacts I get a message that says read only.
I don't remember how to get an edit field.

Thank you for any help.

yup thats terrific. Spyware doctor is a terrific product which believe

I was able to move to the secure page and place my order, pay and receive the
activation number on that machine.

What ever is plaguing this machine must be Spyware Doctor aware, it wouldn't
not permit me to open that page. I had my part-time assistant who is sighted
try as well thinking that maybe there was something I wasn't finding with Jaws
but it wasn't that. It must be something to do with the malware on this machine.

I started a scan but had to give it up due to time, will run it over night I
think.

yes the website is a secure checkout. You will need your credit card
information, and their should be edit boxes where you can enter your
credit card info. I'm not sertain of this because I'd never perchased
anything through pctools, but this is what I had to do with perchasing
spy sweeper.

Dale Leavens wrote:

There has been a lot of traffic about this on the list recently. I seem to have
some garbage that Spybot isn't getting rid of so I thought to try Ad-aware. On
googling it I am finding Spy Doctor. I downloaded it and of course it found
stuff but won't act on it until I pay for it.

Fine except it doesn't seem to want to take me where I can purchase it. I get
the Purchase link but that just takes me around as does the Secure Checkout
link I think it is called.

Now one needs the Jaws cursor to access this software but the Web page?

Can anyone help me figure this out?

Thanks.

2007-09-05 Thread Laura Bratton
Rich,
to add a contact in OE press control shift B to open up the address book.
Then press control N. This will bring up the box to add a new contact.
To edit a contact bring up the read only box which contains the person's
name, email, and other info. When in that box press control tab and you will
be in the edit field.

[JAWS-Users] Outlook freezing jaws?

2007-09-05 Thread Kerryann Ifill
Hi List,

Can none figure this one out?
Last night I was trying to set up Microsoft outlook 2003 to import mail from
my Google account. I'm using windows xp home and jfw 8 and when I went to
test the settings, jaws froze up. I tried again after restarting and jaws
stopped reporting when I tabbed, but would say line and then froze again.
Now here's the weird part.
I went to work today and had to reset the password on our pop account at
work. I'm using jfw 7 with xp pro in the office and outlook 2003. The same
thing happened again.

The strange part is, I've done this procedure on both systems before, as
I've always set up my own email, is there something weird going on in the
cosmos that I don't know about?

Regards
Kerry

2007-09-05 Thread Flor Lynch
if it really were a bug in the latest build of JAWS, you'd think it would
have been more widely seen? I don't have any problem when opening Winamp,
using 'the latest build' of JAWS, JAWS8.2173, and Windows XP Home SP2.
Also, what version of Winamp and what operation system are being used in the
problem scenario? (the latest Winamp is 5.35.)

Re: [JAWS-Users] How do you turn word into a text file?

2007-09-05 Thread Michael A. Tisdale
Tab once past the spot where you put the file name and you will find a pull
down box that indicates the kind of file you are saving. Choose the one you
want. It is easy.
