Hi, I'm surprised no one has mentioned Mirc4Life? This is basically a
version of Mirc that interfaces with the major screen readers, as well
as providing some nice and cool features. Go to www.irc4life.net for
more information and to download a copy. Hope this helps, and Happy ircing!

Victor,

What operating system and what application program are you assuming for
these operations? Unless I missed it somewhere along the way, nobody has
specified which.

Thanks,

Hi Tim,

You don't have to view folders in web view for it to work, as the alt+left
and right arrow keys are keyboard shortcuts for the back and forward buttons
on the toolbar. This is also a Windows shortcut key, not Jaws specific.

If you don't believe me, press alt+V to go to the view menu, then arrow down

In that sub-menu are the options to go back and to go forward, which are the
alt+left and right arrows respectively.

This is equivalent to pressing the back and forward buttons on the toolbar
that a sighted person would see just below the file menu.

If you are on the sixty-fifth folder down in the list, and you enter on it,
only to find that it's not the folder you wanted, pressing alt+left arrow
takes you back to the sixty-fifth folder in the list.

Likewise, if you come out of the sixty-fifth folder, only to see that you've
forgotten to check something, you can press the right arrow to go back into
the folder, and land on the last file you looked at or had highlighted.

As has been stated, some programs interfere with this function, and, in some
cases, improper configuration of settings on the computer in question will
also interfere with this function.

I was going over someone's computer settings the other day, and once we had
finished configuring her system to work optimally with Jaws, she found that
her alt+left and right arrows functioned again, after not functioning for
the longest time.

Hope this helps.

I appreciate you posting this. Since irc - with me using mirc for an
irc client - was the first online community i experienced back in
1997 and since i lost my sight soon thereafter, I have tried to keep
up with the different irc speech solutions. Fortunately, however,
they have become so numerous that it is getting hard to keep up. g

Can mirc4life be made to output to sapi as an alternative to jaws and
window eyes? I am thinking of users of other screenreaders here and
also personally prefer to not have jaws interupted by irc chatter
when I am multitasking.

Again, Thanks very much.

Hi, I'm not sure if Mirc4Life can output to a SAPI synthesizer, however
if you set your screen reader to not interrupt you when you're typing,
you should be able to capture all outputs sent from the chat window.
Hope this helps.

With E-Machines I usually don't find anything that needs to be removed.
Sometimes the big fix program which updates the system can cause problems
with jaws, but just have it checked not to run at start up and let him run
it for you once a month to get your updates from gateway for the computer.
I've ran several and that is usually the only thing I take out of the start
up unless there's programs there I know I won't use and the computer don't
need.

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS and Thunderbird

2008-02-17 Thread Chris Hallsworth
Hi, thanks for the help, small as it was, but it was greatly
appreciated. Guess I'll just live with it until Windows Mail has been
mended, hopefully in Vista SP1.

Re: [JAWS-Users] empty tables

2008-02-17 Thread orhan deniz
what are these tables. are they data tables or just HTML layout tables. in
config manager go to set options menu and go to HTMl options, on the tables
and lists tab, tab to the table combobox, select data tables.

tif you have all tables selected, sometimes you will just get HTML layout
tables witch don't mean anything.

regards,
orhan.

Sometimes I get empty rows and columns in tables on web pages. Do I need

Re: [JAWS-Users] accessible IRC clients

2008-02-17 Thread Chris Doris
This wasn't the issue. I don't like jaws to be interupted by irc
output when the mirc window does not have focus, i.e. when i have
mirc open but multitask. I prefer having mirc output to sapi as that
will alert me to chats and announcements while not interfering with
jaws's reading.

Thanks much.

Hi, in that case you may prefer Tirc (www.talkingirc.net). This supports
both the major screen readers, as well as SAPI output (MS Agent as Tirc
calls them). Hope that helps.

 Hi All,

I could have sworn I saw a graphics file for AVG and Jaws.

Does this currently exist, and if so, where can I get it for download?

I thought I had seen it on the Jaws user's web site, but I can't seem to
 find it there anymore.

I also find that Jaws 9 crashes when I am using Gold Wave with or without
scripts. Others have reported this as well, although it doesn't seem to
happen on everyone's computers. I hope FS can nail this one down.

I use GoldWave 5.123 with Jaws 9 and everything seems to be fine. Sorry I
couldn't be of more help.

 hi list,

I have recently tried gold wave 5.23 along with the scripts on the script
page and with jaws 9 it seems to crash jaws. It seems to work fine with
 jaws
 8. I wonder if anyone has tried gold wave 5.23 and the scripts with jaws 9
 and what results you've gotten.
