Re: [JAWS-Users] [JAWS] Anybody else having trouble re: Youtube withJFW?
Hi Paul, Sounds like you may have too many things competing for system resources, close everything you don't need, while viewing the video. HTH, Richard Q. Hello all, This is really strange. About a week ago, Youtube videos started stuttering (i.e. playing a few seconds, pausing, playing a couple seconds more, pausing again and so on). I first thought it was an Internet bandwidth issue. Then wonder of wonders, tonight while attempting to listen to a pretty marvelous arrangement of Amazing Grace played on the autoharp, when the stuttering began, I was inspired to close JAWS. Bingo. The Youtube video played fine. Has anyone else experienced this, and can anyone offer an explanation? [JAWS-Users] Calendar setting problem
Hello List, Though I now have my new system, I still keep my Win 98 PC with JAWS 3.7 as it still working well aside from little problem that I am looking for your assistance in case someone out there knows the solution. Here's the problem: the date changed at 12pm instead of 12am. I tried setting it different ways but no different. This is what I did: 1.. Start menu, enter on control panel settings, 2.. Enter on date/time display, 3.. Tab to calendar, right arrow to change the date, 4.. Tab to OK and exit. By the way: in my time style settings, I chose hh:mm:ss tt cause I like the AM/PM time indication when JAWS reads the time. Any help is very much appreciated. Thank you. Re: [JAWS-Users] dictionary for use with JAWS
The Franklin Language Master is a hardware device and can be used indepdendent of the computer and of jaws. You might get better information on that one on a more genral computer list. AS for an accessible dictionarly that can be used offline with jaws, I use - and have for years - the free Wordweb dictionary and thesaurus from http://wordweb.info/free/ If your student is set on paying for the app, there is a pro version that can be purchased and offers some extra features but the free version should be fine for a dictionary. hth Doris At 06:22 AM 2/19/2008 -0600, you wrote: My student would like to purchase a dictionary to use with JAWS. [JAWS-Users] quadruple speak on a script
Hello everyone. I'm writing a script for an instant messaging application that is supposed to read the text in the chat display window automatically. It reads it just fine using the algorithm I chose. It reads the text just fine 4 times. This is obviously unacceptable. Can anyone here shed some light on why this happens and what I can do about it? This is for PalTalk. I put the following code within the NewTextEvent function. MS1 is a global string variable. If myControl == ID_Display then let MS1 = StringSegment (GetTextInWindow (HWND), \n, -1) EndIf Tony Hernandez: Speaksclan Patriarch http://www.tonyspeaks.com http://www.speaksclan.net Visit the JAWS Users List home page at: http://www.jaws-users.com Address for the list archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com To post to this group, send email to jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help from Mailman with your account Put the word help in the subject or body of a blank message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Use the following form in order to contact the management team http://www.jaws-users.com/managers.php If you wish to join the Blind Computing list send a blank email to the following address: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi Rick, Thanks a lot for your valuable instruction, I'll try this and will let you know how it works. Make sure the the correct selection is selected for A M, OR P M, according to the current time in your time zone, and then tab to the apply button, and spacebar that. Next, move to the time zone tab, andmake sure that the correct time zone is selected. When you make changes on a given page in a multi-page dialogue, be sure to apply your changes before moving to the next page when you are done, then spacebar the okay button, and in this case, I would re-boot the PC, to make sure that changes stick. Thank you. [JAWS-Users] Query Free rice
The freerice.com site has, from time to time, new features added to it, the latest of which is pronunciation. I imagine that the correct pronunciation of the, sometimes, very strange words that appear on the site is given in foenetics. The choices of words can be clicked on, but this does not seem to be so with the pronounce feature. Jaws just says: graphics pronounce . To give Jaws the credit it deserves, it, generally, makes a very good fist of getting the correct pronunciation, but sometimes, it does get a little confused, especially if the word is from a language other than standard english and I cannot blame it for that! Back to graphics pronounce I tried finding it by turning on the jaws cursor, but as I am not very adept at using the jaws cursor, I could not find out how to pronounce the word. Any suggestions please! Re: [JAWS-Users] firewalls
Thanks, I just downloaded it again. I removed it last week hoping to use the CA version included in the package. There is no way to install it. It finds something from a previous version of sygate, kerio orzonealarm. I removed every place in the registry that referred to one of these programs and it still will not install. I just re-installed the jaws friendly sygate now going through the process of saying yes to many programs. - Original Message - From: David Ferrin [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Tuesday, February 19, 2008 12:18 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] firewalls Sygate and it's up on the programs page. Re: [JAWS-Users] Repairing internet explorer 7
Hi Linda, The correct keystroke of the links list is, insert + F7. There is a way to repair Internet Explorer, but it involves editing the registry. Not a task for everyone. It doesn't necessarily sound like an IE problem, check your display settings and make sure they haven't changed, I have had this problem in the past. Also, if you have an earlier version of Jaws installed, give it a try. HTH, Richard Q. Hi Ann, I think if you choose the classic start menu, and the classic folder view, you will find it looks pretty much the same asWin98SE, and Win XP, as far as navigation goes. There will be slight differences in other aspects of the O/S, but shouldn't be a problem for Jaws. HTH, Richard Q. Re: [JAWS-Users] New Computer
Just a comment Patti If you want to use Office 2003 I think it is a good idea to completely uninstall Office 2007. I found having elements of both packages made my computer unstable and eventually completely removed 2007 to regain stability. If the 2 packages are going to work at all together you probably need to 1. Uninstall 2007 2. Install 2003 3. Install 2007 again but somehow prevent it upgrading 2003. I believe that this can be done but this probably needs research. Personally I just dumped 2007 as a nasty piece of software.
