Re: [JAWS-Users] on line storage

2008-02-27 Thread Wes Derby
Haven't tried any of them yet, but am considering trying out Carbonite...As
an XM subscriber, I can apparently get a couple free months if I go to
xm.carbonite.com, so might be worth a shot to see if it works...Then, if it
does, $50 a year isn't bad.

Although, I found buying an external hard drive to work pretty well also. :)
Got a 300GB drive on sale at Costco for $89.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws anouncing time/date constantly

2008-02-27 Thread Chris & Doris
What I do is to uncheck displaying the clock in the system tray
altogether. I think this option is found in the startmenu/taskbar
properties if I remember correctly.

jaws's jawsKey+f12 announces the time regardless of whether or not
the clock is displayed and any clock or chime scripts connected with
jaws will work too.

I have hid the clock ever since win 95 and actually when i was
sighted still even because it is just one item less that clutters the
system tray.

[JAWS-Users] Jaws 9.0 and the windows xp pro log on screen

2008-02-27 Thread Don Risavy, jr.
Hello,

I've noticed that when using the latest release or version of Jaws 9.0 that
the log on screen in windows xp pro no longer speaks as it did in Jaws 8.
So wondered does anyone know how to make this happen so can hear the info
displayed on the windows xp pro log on screen?

Thanks.

[JAWS-Users] Jaws anouncing time/date constantly

2008-02-27 Thread Carlene Knight
Hi:

We have a new system at work that is internet based. While I am waiting for a
call to come in, JAWS anounces the time/date every 10 seconds because that's how
often the time changes on the time sheet clock on the screen. Is there anything
I can do to stop this? I've set the screen to not automatically refresh in the
verbocity menu, but that doesn't seem to work. Any thoughts would be
appreciated. Thanks

[JAWS-Users] System Advice

2008-02-27 Thread Kerryann Ifill
Hello list,

I recently bought a new system and after two weeks of fighting with Vista's
incompatibility with human beings, I decided to rever to XP. Now my printer
works again and so does OpenBook!

One annoying habit though is that JFW will constantly repeat the items on
the desk top when I'm moving from task to task. How can I disable this
behaviour?

Also, can anyone tell me how to disable the Opo Up blocker. I've tried
doing it through the tools menu, but to no avail.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Hi,

You press the jaws insert key and letter d together and the dictionary thing
will open. I would not have thought to get rid of the list names that way
but it should work.

[JAWS-Users] Jaws 5.10 and MS Word 2003

2008-02-27 Thread Corey Cook
Hello all,
Some time a go I think I remember reading somewhere on line how to best
configure MS Word 2003 to best work with Jaws 5.10.
But I can't seem to find that info.
Will someone please help me with getting Jaws and Word to work together?
Thanks

My question is can I put Microsoft Office 2003 Pro on my computer?
The only thing that I'll use is excel and word. Will it work with my
computer?
Thanks Patti

Re: [JAWS-Users] Thesaurus with jaws

Hi,
I do not use Thesaurus in Outlook 2000, because I am using Outlook Express,
but I am using Thesaurus in office Word 2000, and the shortcut keys to bring
it up is Shift+F7, which doesn't work in Office 2003.

Hi Lennie,
I tried this instruction, as I also want to access the JAWS Thesaurus in
office 2003 as easy as I did in office 2000.
I opened an empty word document to go to tools, please correct me if I'm
wrong in this stage, then I pressed C for Customize, O for Option Tag, then
I tabbed around till it says "keyboard button, I pressed Shift tab three
times, it says "show shortcut keys in screen tips on toolbar check not
check", and pressed enter, but it took me back to my blank document. So, I
didn't go far.
If possible that you can email me privately for detailed instruction please.
Thank you.

Hi Lennie,
I tried this instruction, as I also want to access the JAWS Thesaurus in
office 2003 as easy as I did in office 2000.
Thank you.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Thesaurus with jaws

2008-02-27 Thread Lennie Rinaldi
Hi Estelita,

I think that what you said that you shift tab
after you found the keyboard button. I guess that
what I wrote might have been confusing.

This is what I meant:

>Go to the Option Tag
>Tab to keyboard, (Shift tab two times) and hit enter
(I goofed! You only need to shift tab two times)

In other words, when you found the option tag,
you do the shift tab two times to land on the
keyboard button. If you just tab when you are at
the option tag, you would have to do a lot of
tabbing (I think nine times) to get to the
keyboard button. The rest of the procedures should work out okay.

I hope this explains it better? If you need any
more help, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Lennie

I've done that, I do wish you would have changed the subject line though.
Where do you think some of the good stuff on the tips and page came from?

[JAWS-Users] Why Do I bother

2008-02-27 Thread Patricia Dunbar
Just a tiny comment from lil' ol' me here..

Maybe when you find something that someone post on these lists that you
think, hey that might be something I might need somewhere down the line,
maybe make a folder like I have and stick it in there so ya can find the
answer yourself. Smiles.

I have went to my jaws folder many times for things I just know eventually I
will need to know how to do or to fix, hahaha

I recently placed instructions on how to clear out the run dialog box up on
the tips and tricks page. It should answer your question very well my
friend.

[JAWS-Users] menu key announcement

2008-02-27 Thread Estelita
Hi Denny,
I reckoned you are Vista user.
Can you please provide me an instruction on how to set JAWS to announce the
menu keys?
Like for instance if I am in Page setup in Excel, JAWS will announce P, for
page tab, M, for margin tab etc.
Thank you.

Estelita

[JAWS-Users] Question about the run dialog, and not being able to delete sndvol32.

2008-02-27 Thread cutolo.albert
Hello everyone,

it seems that when I go to the run dialog and try to type something else in
their, I can't delete that sndvol32 that's in their. Even when I try to
select it with the control shift right arrow and then hit the delete
key,it's still in their. If I try too hit the backspace key over the whole
word, I can't get rid of it at all. I even tried rebooting the computer over
night too see if that would clear out thememory, nothing works.
My second question to the list is, when using outlook express six, is there
anyway at all to find the archives folder and anything that's in there to
get things backthat one has deleted, and if so, how do you go about finding
it and reading anythingthat's in there.

Re: [JAWS-Users] jfw scripts and wordpad

2008-02-27 Thread Ryan MacIsaac
Hi Doug,

Is that file found when you select the Explore My Settings menu option? If
that is where you are finding the file, then it is safe to delete it.

Ryan

Subject: [JAWS-Users] jfw scripts and wordpad

Well, folks, I have absolutely nothing in my Personal Settings folder.
If I were to delete the "wordpad.jxx" files in my enu folder, would that fix

it or would it only make matters worse?
Thanks in advance.
