[JAWS-Users] have a weird thing going on, perhaps someone help me off list. See below: thank you.

2008-09-25 Thread Karen Bailey
I have purchased a printer: an hp 1320. My printer guy came, and
the printer works, but tried installing the driver: cd rom. In
the middle of install when the test page comes out, has error
messages due to some program called scrubber. On the page on
screen says it has to shut down. Cannot get installation to
continue. Anyone know what to do? Thanks ahead of time. Need a
hint: because it will cost me $85 an hour to get someone here to
try to correct this. Thanks ahead of time. Karen and Harpo

Hello all there on our happy group,

May be it is a small question, but there is too much to say about. What do
you say about using jaws
with "open office". I wonder if it is accessible for us who use jaws for
windows.
Thanks a lot in advance for all your comments.

[JAWS-Users] Clipboard Content in Beta 2

2008-09-25 Thread Margaret Thomas
Hi All,

I never got around to trying the new Windows key plus Insert plus X to read
the contents of the clipboard in the first Beta of JAWS 10 and gave it a try
with Beta 2 and encountered something strange in
OE 6 after I tried it. The keystroke seems to work, but, now when I compose
a new message and hit escape, JAWS says "virtual cursor" and I'm not asked
if I want to save the message and I'm still in the message body. I have to
hit alt-F and close to get out of the message body and get the prompt asking
me if I want to save the message.

The OS is XP Home with SP2 and IE 7.

Can anyone duplicate this?

Thanks,

Margaret

Re: [JAWS-Users] "No window is active"?

2008-09-25 Thread Carlene Knight
I also get this program is not responding, ETC quite often when shutting down
correctly. There is nothing open that I can focus on. Could it be possible
that something is running in the background like AVG or a component of Windows
that a won't respond correctly. It shuts down without me having to press the
end button though. Seldom does it speak a label.,that so that I know which
program is being the culprit. A few times it said Windows Parking, whatever
that is, but lately it doesn't say anything and it happens almost every night
when I shut down.

You should make sure the default radio button is checked instead of the

It seems to happen to me a lot when I shut down as well. I can see colors
enough to know that the desktop is indeed what is in focus. I'm not sure what
the reason is, but I simply have to alt tab to another open program to shut it
down.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Firefox 3.0.2 is out, information for JAWS 7.10 users!

2008-09-25 Thread Carlene Knight
Hi:

I wonder if very many ad-ons work with 3.02? My husband has still not upgraded
to 3.0 because the ad-ons he uses are not supported. If you have ad-ons make
sure they are compatible with the version you upgrade too.

You need to modify the defaults. In the global or individual voice settings

Having just installed jaws 10 beta 2, it seems they fixed my problem where
you couldn't see the number of unread messages in each folder in Outlook
2003.

[JAWS-Users] jaws and open office

2008-09-25 Thread Håkan alakraa
Hello all there on our happy group,

May be it is a small question, but there is too much to say about. What do you
say about using jaws
with "open office". I wonder if it is accessible for us who use jaws for
windows.
Thanks a lot in advance for all your comments.

We're supposed to be seeing it some time this week or next or something.
thing is that just b/c they say something like "Oh yeah, it's supposed to be
out in the next couple weeks" doesn't mean that they should be held to it as
if it were set in stone. Just know that it's close, regardless of when it
actually does come out. In short, asking this question of all of us listers
really doesn't get anyone anywhere b/c none of us really has the inside
scoop on when this comes out. And no, unfortunately, there aren't any FS
employees on here with the inside scoop, and besides, if there were, they
wouldn't come right out and say anything different from what we've heard
anyway.

The check for updates feature will find it at that time or you can download the
full build from the web site as usual. The write up will also go live at the
same time.

[JAWS-Users] Voices With Jaws 10.

2008-09-25 Thread Mandy
Please will someone remind me how I use Daniel as a voice? I keep trying and
ending up with no speech at all or just asked whether I want to go back to
factory settings - I seem to think it's voice profiles or global but I can't
get a sample of the voices.

Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws 10 public beta 2

2008-09-25 Thread Mark Driesenga
We're supposed to be seeing it some time this week or next or something.
thing is that just b/c they say something like "Oh yeah, it's supposed to be
out in the next couple weeks" doesn't mean that they should be held to it as
if it were set in stone. Just know that it's close, regardless of when it
actually does come out. In short, asking this question of all of us listers
really doesn't get anyone anywhere b/c none of us really has the inside
scoop on when this comes out. And no, unfortunately, there aren't any FS
employees on here with the inside scoop, and besides, if there were, they
wouldn't come right out and say anything different from what we've heard
anyway.

Re: [JAWS-Users] making a document read only

2008-09-25 Thread Andrew Head
Hi Devona,
if you make a document a read only file, it means you can only read it and
any changes you make will not be saved.
as I was told earlier on the list, to make the document read only or to not
make it read only, highlight the file, press alt enter to bring up the
properties and uncheck the box that asks if you want to make the file read
only. and check it if you want to make it read only.
thanks to everyone who answered my question earlier.

Re: [JAWS-Users] new features request for Jaws

2008-09-25 Thread Andrew Head
Hi Devona,
No, j-tunes does not come with jaws.
J-tunes is a program that allows jaws to access itunes and speak what is on
the itunes screen. It works very well. You will need to pay for it though,
but in my opinion, it is worth the money.
for more information about j-tunes, pricing and so on,
go to:
www.tandt-consultancy.com
hope this helps,
