Re: [JAWS-Users] how does I.E 8 beta and jaws work?

2008-10-11 Thread Chris Hallsworth
I had problems with it under JAWS 10 beta 2, so reverted back to JAWS 9, and
it's fine the majority of the time. Hope this helps.

Hi,
Looks like we're in the same boat. One of my classes at school has
decided to upgrade there computers from running office 2003 to Office
2007. So, now I gota spend some time in class tommarro getting familiar
with it. I just love! having to get used to a program right in the middle

Anyway, glad JAWS 9 works with it.

When making a new rule, in the first tab select your criteria for the
message rule - the from line, or the "to or CC line", whichever. You do
this by checking it with the spacebar. In the next tab press, you come to
a

box which says, "move it to the specified folder". Check this with the
spacebar. When you tab again you come to the "select people..." dialogue,
or the third group of conditions where you will fill in the text you want
to

use to define the rule. Down-arrow past that, and you come to "move it to
the specified folder, specified". Now it is important that you press
enter

on this line. You then get to a list of folders, so choose your desired
folder from it. If a folder list is closed, open it with right-arrow.

Now there are other methods of accomplishing this or similar tasks. I
believe David has done an audio tutorial on making rules in outlook
Express, and it is somewhere about the tutorials page on the site. You
have

a fair few choices on how to make a new rule or modify an existing one.

Hi, All you have to do is use the exact same folder name to filter your
messages into and this is case sensitive when putting in the folder name
as
I have found out. Bob

[JAWS-Users] Jaws talks too much

2008-10-11 Thread Iamcardman2004
I have been reconfiguring my computer after a major crash. It was bad enough
that I hade to reinstall windows and lost most everything. Not sure what I
did, but now jaws speaks the time every minute as the clock changes and reads
me the percentage one by one as I do a download, no matter what is in focus at
the time. I also lose the My Documents icon on the desktop most every time I
go to desk top. I then go to My Documents using the start menu. When I close
it out, the icon is back on my desktop. Any suggestions?

Al

2008-10-11 Thread Rick Justice

Hi Al,
As to the problem with Jaws speaking all the time,
it sounds like you have your screen echo set to all.
Use insert + S, to cycle thru the available settings.
As for the icon, check out the desktop tab, in the display properties in
control panel.

If you need more help, just sing out.

Re: [JAWS-Users] CD burning With Media Player 11

2008-10-11 Thread Don Lorah
Hi David,
Read your tutorialand tried to burn a cd, there seems to be no burn tab
accessible in Windows 11. It can be seen with the Jaws cursor, but no
action can be taken. I burned 7 audio discs with the wizzard after which,
the tab choice of: burn an audio or beta is no longer available in the
wizard; pressing the next space bar immediately burns a beta cd. Any help
will be appreciated, and thank you for your instructive tutorials, Don

[JAWS-Users] Restoring Computer

2008-10-11 Thread Patricia Dunbar

Can you restore your computer anyway possible without speech?

It would seem my husband decided to install some updated drivers on his
computer last night, now no speech, no window sounds come up. The computer
does boot up and he has just enough sight to see that it's on the desktop,
but no windows sounds and of course no Jaws...

The driver was for Creative Sound Card. I just have no idea how to fix this
without any speech.

He uses xp pro and Jaws 9.

Re: [JAWS-Users] CD burning With Media Player 11

2008-10-11 Thread Brian Lee

Hello Don,

One thing you might check is that full mode is on. If "skin mode" is active
then the burn button and burn menu isn't shown. Use CTRL 1 to make sure
that full mode is on. If full mode is on then use the tab key to see if you
can move to a folder tree that shows "library" and "playlists." If so, keep
using the tab key to see if you can find the burn button and burn menu
choices.

Take care.

Hi David,
Read your tutorialand tried to burn a cd, there seems to be no burn tab
accessible in Windows 11.

Can someone give me the quick and dirty about how to burn an audio CD
with

Win XP?

When using the CD burning wizard, if you select create an audio CD, the
wizard dumps you into media player. Your files are there and ready to
go.

But, how do you start the process? In older versions of Media Player,
there was a button near the bottom of the screen labeled "Start Burn."
You had to find it with the JAWS curser and press it, but once you did,
the CD burning started. That button does not seem to exist in version
11,

or at least I can't find it. Is there a keyboard shortcut to start the
process?

[JAWS-Users] Accusations wasRe: (no subject)

2008-10-11 Thread Rick Harmon
I think we need more than a subject here mods. This guy is accusing someone
of software cracking of Jaws. The rest of the thread isn't here so I'm not
sure what's going on here.

Re: [JAWS-Users] CD burning With Media Player 11

2008-10-11 Thread Brian Lee

Hello Don,

The CTRL 1 keystroke is just a shortcut for using full mode. The full mode
choice is found in the file menu. Use Alt-F and see if it brings up the
file menu. If the file menu is presented then press enter on the "full
mode" choice. If a menu doesn't pop up then use the JAWS cursor to check
the top of the window to see if there is a menu bar, and if so then use a
left mouse button click simulation on the file menu choice. It is the "full
mode" choice and not the "full page" choice.

If the above steps don't work then try to burn a CD starting outside of
Windows Mediaplayer. Browse to a folder in Windows Explorer and select the
files you want to burn. Make sure they are all audio files that Windows
Mediaplayer can burn. When the files are selected press the application key
and use down arrow key to the "add to Windows Mediaplayer list" and press
enter. When the music starts playing in Windows Mediaplayer press CTRL P to
pause the player. Use tab key to see if there is a burn button and menu at
that point.

You might also go into the help menu and check for updates to Windows
Mediaplayer.

Take care.

Hello Don,

One thing you might check is that full mode is on. If "skin mode" is
active

then the burn button and burn menu isn't shown. Use CTRL 1 to make sure
that full mode is on. If full mode is on then use the tab key to see if
you
can move to a folder tree that shows "library" and "playlists." If so,
keep

using the tab key to see if you can find the burn button and burn menu
choices.

Take care.

Hi David,
Read your tutorialand tried to burn a cd, there seems to be no burn tab
accessible in Windows 11. It can be seen with the Jaws cursor, but no
action can be taken. I burned 7 audio discs with the wizzard after which,
the tab choice of: burn an audio or beta is no longer available in the
wizard; pressing the next space bar immediately burns a beta cd. Any
help

will be appreciated, and thank you for your instructive tutorials, Don

Can someone give me the quick and dirty about how to burn an audio CD
with
Win XP?

When using the CD burning wizard, if you select create an audio CD, the
wizard dumps you into media player. Your files are there and ready to
go.
But, how do you start the process? In older versions of Media Player,
there was a button near the bottom of the screen labeled "Start Burn."
You had to find it with the JAWS curser and press it, but once you did,
the CD burning started. That button does not seem to exist in version
11,
or at least I can't find it. Is there a keyboard shortcut to start the
process?

There are several things you can try if the budget is no problem.
Duxbury works well but might be a bit expensive. I think NFBtrans may
still be available. I have found both quite satisfactory for personal

Isn't WinBraille also free to use?

I received it with my Braille embosser, and from what I've read, it's free
to use.

Just thinking out loud. Smile.

Re: [JAWS-Users] CD burning With Media Player 11

2008-10-11 Thread Don Lorah
Hi Brian,
Tried all you suggested, found nothing, the full mode choice was never
found. I also tried to burn with the file menu: add to Windows ... still
no burn.
I previously burned 7 cd's with the wizard, but, now, that does not burn.
While using the wizzard, I opened the rw drive, pasted in the music files
and tabbed to: select audio or beta burn. Windows media would pop up and I
would go through the tabs to: start burn. Sonehow, this method disappeared
and now I can only burn beta discs with this procedure. Thanks for your
concern, regards, Don

Take care.

JAWS is not reading skype correctly. In my skype menus, JAWS is reading a
bunch of question marks with a letter here and there. Also, beside my
contacts he also reads question marks. This just started and I'm thinking
I've hit something to cause it. JAWS seems to be reading everything else ok
as far as other programs. Thanks for any help.

Hi Fred.

If i have understood your question correctly, there is a problem issue in this,
because uf "Unknown reciepient" always are put into the bcc field, and the
roules does'nt give any apportunity to sort messages from this field.

So i think it will never be possible for you, to make such a sorting roule.

Which version of jaws are you using?
If it is version 8, there is a known issue for the address book in Windows

It is better with Jaws 9.

Can you restore your computer anyway possible without speech?

It would seem my husband decided to install some updated drivers on his
computer last night, now no speech, no window sounds come up. The
computer does boot up and he has just enough sight to see that it's on
the desktop, but no windows sounds and of course no Jaws...

The driver was for Creative Sound Card. I just have no idea how to fix
this without any speech.

He uses xp pro and Jaws 9.

[JAWS-Users] Fw: more on JAWS and iTunes accessibility

2008-10-11 Thread Flor Lynch
I would like this message to clear up some confusion a few people have with
regard to iTunes and its ability to work with both JAWS9 and JAWS8. I can
attest [as I have done, below] to the collaboration between JAWS9 and
itunes. It is officially documented by FS [as indicated further, below],
that it does work with both of these versions, besides JAWS10.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] more on JAWS and iTunes accessibility

Bruce Toews forwarded the following to another list or more, so, sorry to
those who have seen this elsewhere. It is useful information. I have now
managed to successfully create an iTunes account using JAWS9, with the help
of the relevant itunes.jcf (mentioned). He writes:

I thought I would include the following on JAWS and I-Tunes
accessibility, taken from the JAWS What's New file. FS wants word about
this spread. It includes a link to instructions on making JAWS 9 and 8
I-Tunes accessible.

>From the What's New Page on JAWS 10:
iTunes 8 Support
JAWS now provides access to iTunes® 8, including support for the iTunes
Store. Using the virtual cursor, you can browse and search the store for
all content, including music, movies, TV shows, and educational content.
Purchasing individual tracks or full albums is now accessible.

JAWS 9 and JAWS 8 users can refer to Technical Support Notice - Which
JAWS releases support iTunes 8? for a brief set of instructions
describing how to configure JAWS for use with iTunes 8.
