[JAWS-Users] Place markers

2008-11-27 Thread Patti
Hey Gang,
In Jaws 8 if you have more then 1 place markers all you have to do is ctrl
shift 1 through 9 to get to it. On my banking page I have about 6 place
markers.
My question is in Jaws 9 this command ctrl shift # doesn't work, is there a
way to get that command back, because I like it? I know all you have to do
is press k.
That is the reason I haven't went to Jaws 9 yet. I got my Jaws 10 in the
mail last week.
Thanks for all the help.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Telephone numbers are represented by graphics

I have noticed that on an increasing number of web pages that telephone
numbers are being represented by a graphic such that the telephone number
looks something like this: 800 279...

When I double click on this unexpected graphic, this activates Skype. In a

 way
that is good because the full telephone number is shown.

Examples of this are on the audio for listening page of RFBD when the
telephone number for technical support is to appear. Is labeling the
 graphic
about the only JAWS solution to this growing trend for graphics?

I have seen the implimentation on other pages, so it will not be
 surprising if
we see this trend to continue.

Has anyone derived a work around for this ?

When I hit the link, the PDF doesn't seem to complete its function.

I then have to alt. F4 and this knocks me out of I E.
Any thoughts would be helpful.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Blind web site that doesn't quite work?

2008-11-27 Thread Brian Lee

Hello,

I would suggest that you set the Adobe Reader to be used when you use a link
in Internet Explorer to open a PDF file. To do this, open your Adobe reader
and use CTRL-K to bring up the preferences. In the list of categories use
down arrow or press the letter I until you get to internet. Use tab key
to move to the use PDF in browser choice and if it is checked then remove
the checkmark by using spacebar. If it is not checked then press the escape
key. Use tab key and check to see if there is an apply button and if so
press spacebar on it. After pressing spacebar on the apply button, (or if
there is not an apply button) then use tab key to move to the OK button and
press spacebar.

With the above change, the Adobe Reader should be used when you press enter
on a PDF link while using your browser.

If you don't want to do the above then you can also download the PDF file to
your downloads folder and open the file from there. Use a right mouse
button click simulation. When I downloaded the recipe file that you
mentioned, the application key did not produce the correct context menu. I
had to use a right mouse click on the file and then used down arrow to the
save target as choice. The right mouse click is done by using the
asterisk or star on the number pad (the third key from the left on the top
row of the number pad). If you are using a laptop and the laptop keyboard
configuration then the right mouse button is done by using the caps lock key
with the number 9. Your PDF file that you save should be associated with
Adobe Reader so when you press enter on the saved downloaded file the Adobe
Reader should open.

Take care.

2008-11-27 Thread rcham27

Brian, thanks so much.
This worked and now the PDF opened the way I was used to.
I don't know how the Adobe settings got changed but your recommendation
worked.

Hello,

I would suggest that you set the Adobe Reader to be used when you use a
link in Internet Explorer to open a PDF file. To do this, open your Adobe
reader and use CTRL-K to bring up the preferences. In the list of
categories use down arrow or press the letter I until you get to
internet. Use tab key to move to the use PDF in browser choice and if
it is checked then remove the checkmark by using spacebar. If it is not
checked then press the escape key. Use tab key and check to see if there
is an apply button and if so press spacebar on it. After pressing
spacebar on the apply button, (or if there is not an apply button) then
use tab key to move to the OK button and press spacebar.

With the above change, the Adobe Reader should be used when you press
enter on a PDF link while using your browser.

If you don't want to do the above then you can also download the PDF file
to your downloads folder and open the file from there. Use a right mouse
button click simulation. When I downloaded the recipe file that you
mentioned, the application key did not produce the correct context menu.
I had to use a right mouse click on the file and then used down arrow to
the save target as choice. The right mouse click is done by using the
asterisk or star on the number pad (the third key from the left on the top
row of the number pad). If you are using a laptop and the laptop keyboard
configuration then the right mouse button is done by using the caps lock
key with the number 9. Your PDF file that you save should be associated
with Adobe Reader so when you press enter on the saved downloaded file the
Adobe Reader should open.

Take care.

Hi, I have 10.0 and XP home.
I was given the below web site to up load and I am having problems with
this task.

When I hit the link, the PDF doesn't seem to complete its function.
Also, when I try to alt. left arrow back to the main page nothing
happens.

I then have to alt. F4 and this knocks me out of I E.
Any thoughts would be helpful.
Here is the web info.

About 10 million Americans suffer from age-related macular degeneration,

Although there's no cure, Dr. Fuller says there are natural, as well as

2008-11-27 Thread Tim
It is important to remember that PDF files take a long time to load,
especially if you are on dial-up. That is why I download these files before
opening them. Adobe Acrobat Reader should be set to open the document in a
separate window other than your browser. This will allow you to close your
document without closing your browser. When it opens your document, it
should ask you how you would like it to be displayed. If it did not even do
that it did not even start loading the document. Getting a feel for how slow
PDF files are? They are immensely beneficial but they are also less
intuitive--meaning it does not tell you how close it is to completing
loading the document.
