Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws support for pdf files
I realize that some of you may not have the luxury of owning the Kurzweil OCR program, but I have found that it does the best job when it comes to reading PDF files. Even when it is a scanned image and Jaws does not recognize text with the the document, Kurzweil will convert that image to text and does a great job of reading it. Just this week I received a PDF attachment and when I tried to open it with Adobe and read it with Jaws, I received the message that it was an empty document. I simply did a control p to print and chose the Kesi Virtual printer. The document opened and I was able to read it. I am not certain about this, but I would assume that Openbook has the same capability. - Original Message - From: shikher goyal shikag...@gmail.com To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Tuesday, March 03, 2009 2:16 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws support for pdf files hello sir thanks but is there not any other way for reading .pdf files. actually i tried with many books, but same problem. not comfortable. with regards shikher On 3/2/09, Donald Marang donald.mar...@gmail.com wrote: I would prefer being able to read PDF files straight from PDF files reliably as well. Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2007 and JAWS 10; Reading Mail
This is not a Jaws issue, but rather with Outlook itself. Even sighted people have this problem. I have found the best solution is to open the message, then do an alt H, followed by the letter X and then the letter V. This will allow you to view that message using your Internet Browser. Jaws may not speak while performing these key commands, but follow through with them and the message will be displayed. - Original Message - From: Wes Derby ufofana...@gmail.com To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Monday, March 02, 2009 10:42 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2007 and JAWS 10; Reading Mail Hi All. However, I notice most of my emails display kind of funky when I open them, particularly if they're HTML messages. To get to the text in most messages now, I have to right-arrow or use table commands it seems to get past little graphics. So, I guess what I'm wondering is, how can I optimize the settings in Outlook 2007 to best work for me as a JAWS usser? Re: [JAWS-Users] Authorization key extension
I'm using Jaws 9. Re: [JAWS-Users] Authorization key extension
As long as you keep your key count current, you will never have a problem reauthorizing your JAWS product. Personally I don't like the fact that you have to reauthorize JAWS if you replace a piece of computer hardware, like a DVD drive. I think that's just a little too invasive. Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2007 and JAWS 10; Reading Mail
The PC cursor represents the application or window gaining focus. It is also used for typing as it follows the insertion point. The JAWS cursor is what is thought to be a virtual mouse pointer, meaning it operates and behaves like a mouse pointer. So you can hover over items in an application or window and manipulate them. Items can include text, icons, controls, etc. -- Chris Hallsworth e-mail: christopher...@googlemail.com MSN: ch9...@hotmail.com Skype: chrishallsworth7266 - Original Message - From: Hu, Jack jack...@citi.com To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Tuesday, March 03, 2009 7:08 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2007 and JAWS 10; Reading Mail Hi, I am not so familiar with JAWS. Okay, I've been a satisfied user of Outlook 2000 and 2003 for quite a while now. My new laptop has Outlook 2007, and over-all, I like it. The .auth is for the older method of authorization, however. you mentioned 'older JAWS files', by which I had assumed you meant older versions of JAWS - that is, older than version 6, since when the newer Internet Licence management method superseded the older floppy disk authorization key. - Original Message - From: Flor Lynch florl...@iol.ie To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Tuesday, March 03, 2009 10:45 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Authorization key extension .auth . - Original Message - From: Blackwell, Clifford cblackw...@cityofmadison.com To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Tuesday, March 03, 2009 3:02 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Authorization key extension I am having a friend help me clean some things off my computer in and out of the registry. Re: [JAWS-Users] System and Application control in Vista?
Most computer with both jacks in back and front. If you plug into the front the back jacks are muted until front jack is unplugged. It depends on the sound card controls to just how much control you have over the jacks. At 11:11 PM 3/2/2009, you wrote: Some of the newer computers like mine have 2 audio outputs. One in the front for headphones, and one in the back for the computer speakers. You can actually rout different audio to different outputs. Like Jaws out the front, and the rest of the system sounds out the back to the speakers. The drawback is that you have to always wear headphones to use Jaws. Personally, I find that annoying. Hi all, my name is Paul. I have used Jaws for a very long time and I have a few comments but I'll save those for later on. I do not know much about Jaws for I am blind and most of the time use my Braillenote to email, brows the web etc. I am blind with no sight what so ever.
