[JAWS-Users] changing from address in ms outlook?

2009-03-20 Thread Maria Chapman

hi list.

I have a friend who has 2 email accounts. does anyone know how she can change the account that's being sent from whilst composing a mesage? in thunderbird I can just shift tab a few times and it will say from and give me a combo box to choose my email account. this doesn't seem to work in ms outlook. The only work around i can think of is to reply to a message that's from that acount, that's all well and good, but if you want to send a new mesage and there are no messages in you r in box it can be a problem.
can anyone help? she is using office 2003 and jaws 8

thanks

kind regards
Maria and Karly

[JAWS-Users] pleased with I E 8 and other updates

2009-03-20 Thread Lenny McHugh
For a long time on certain web sites I had a problem reading and navigating.
This problem has gone back as far as jaws 8 for me. The worst site was our
local paper.
I don't know if it was the install of i e 8 or updating drivers and freedom
scientific video intercept.
When I would first go to the page I was placed in an area where it would
read some html code. I could not use any jaws navigation keys until I
manually went about 25 lines down the page. Then I could bounce around the
page. When I clicked on a link for particular article and then used the back
button, I almost never ended where I should be. Sometimes at the top back
into the html code or several links previous to where I was. After clicking
on a link to read a story occasionally jaws would read one word every ten or
fifteen seconds. I had to close the paper and re open to start reading
again.
Since I installed i e 8 and the driver updates I can now read the paper as I
could a very long time ago. I sure would like to know what actually fixed
the problem, i e 8 or video intercept.
David, thanks for posting about the i e 8 update.

Hi,

When I navigate in word and outlook, they are the two office programs I use,
I have noticed that when I navigate by word or character, Jaws double
speaks.

Has anyone had this problem?

I am using the latest build of Jaws 10 on Windows Vista.

Thanks.

[JAWS-Users] Mp3raid.com code

2009-03-20 Thread Alana Jovanovski
Hi,

Does anyone know how to get the code for mp3raid.com to listen to music?

It's one of those image things where you have to look at it to get the code,
but it says on the website that if you cannot read the number in the image
there is a play button in the image.

After the edit field, Jaws says Flash file, and then the download and
enable listen button displays, but when I press enter on flash file, it does
nothing, Jaws does not even say that flash file is a button.

Any ideas on how to work with such a page?

Thanks for your help.

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS Saying Read Only Edit

2009-03-20 Thread David Whitehead

Hello, give these steps a try;

1. Press insert+6 on the number row=jaws configuration manager.
Or, you could press, insert+F2, and down arrow until you hear jaws
configuration manager, pressing enter here.

2. Press ctrl+shift+d= default file.

3. Press alt+S= set options menu.

4. Press the letter M=speechsounds manager options.

5. Tab and press enter on the edit current scheme button.

6. Ctrl+Tab=ctrl type tab.

7. Press the letter R in the list-view until you hear read-only edit.

8. Tab to the set of radio-buttons and down-arrow until you hear, radio
button for ignore.

9. Tab and press enter on the okay-button.

10. Tab again pressing enter on the okay-button.

11. Now press enter on yes to save the changes to the sound scheme.

12. Press alt+F4 to leave configuration-manager and enter on yes to
save the changes.

I hope this helps.
I no this works for Outlook express, so, I assume it will work for
MSOutlook.

Your friend should go to address book under tools and enter. It will tell
that there is a list of addresses. She should enter. Then go back to the
file menu and arrow down once to new contact and enter. She will then add
the address. If she wants to add sender to her address book, she should
return to tools and arrow to add sender and hit enter. marilyn

In most cases, you are better off going to the hardware mfg site and
downloading the latest drivers. The approach I take is that if it's not
broke, don't fix it. Of course, that philosophy does not apply to
critical

Windows updates.

you can leave it as is, or customize it to how you like. I have seen

Your friend should go to address book under tools and enter. It will tell
that there is a list of addresses. She should enter. Then go back to the
file menu and arrow down once to new contact and enter. She will then add
the address. If she wants to add sender to her address book, she should
return to tools and arrow to add sender and hit enter. marilyn

That sounds very strange. Sometimes when you access a website Jaws tends to
read everything so I simply stop the reading, go to the top of the page and

Re: [JAWS-Users] Double speaking in office applications?

2009-03-20 Thread Brian Lee

Hello Alana,

Another member of this list resolved the problem of JAWS speaking the same
character more than once by removing all references to Microsoft Outlook and
Microsoft Word 2007 in his my settings folder. He was able to add each
entry back one by one afterwards and apparently that worked. You might want
to move the referenced program settings into another folder so that you can
try adding them back one at a time.

To get to the My settings folder you can do the following when using
Vista:

1. Press Windows key.
2. Move off the edit box by pressing down arrow key and then press the
letter A followed by the enter key to bring up the all programs list.
3. If focus lands on a search box then use down arrow key to move off of
it. Press the letter J until you get to the JAWS 10.0 program group.

4. Press the enter key to open the JAWS 10 program group.
5. Press the letter E to move to the Explore JAWS menu choice and then
press enter key to open the explore JAWS submenu.
6. use down arrow key to move to the my settings choice and press the
enter key.
7. Press the letter M until you find references to Microsoft Outlook and
Microsoft Word. If you want to back them up then cut them to the clipboard
and paste them in a backup location. If you don't want to back them up then
just delete the references to Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word.

8. Move to the JAWS window using Alt key with tab keystroke.
9. Press the Alt key and use down arrow to the manage applications
choice and then press the enter key.
10. Press the letter M until you find any references to Microsoft
Outlook 2007 or Microsoft Word 2007. Remove the checkmarks on the
entries by using the spacebar. use tab to the OK button and press enter
key.
11. Restart your computer and open a file in Word or a message in Outlook
2007 to see if removing the entries in your my settings folder resolved
the problem. If so then you might decide to just continue using current
settings or you can try adding the setting entries that you backed up back
into the my settings folder. If you do add them back then it is a good
idea to restart the computer after doing so to see if the problem occurs
again or not.

Take care.

2009-03-20 Thread Victoria Vaughan
Another thing you could try is to use Insert F 6 after the page loads. That
will give you a list of just the headings on the page. When you have
arrowed down to the one you want, press Enter on it. That just takes you to
the place. So now use your Insert Down Arrow to read the page.

Drop me a line and let me know whether that works for you.

Yes, IE8 will work with the latest JAWS. You should be able to remove it

[JAWS-Users] jaws mini computers?

2009-03-20 Thread Cathie J
Hi, I'm wondering if jaws users are using these mini computers or notebooks
with success. System requirements on the FS site are Greek to me, so if
someone can enlighten me to the pros cons that would be appreciated. 1 G
is that enough to run jaws? Are there other things to consider?
Our hopes are to use the notebook (both my husband myself) while on the
road. Hubby is not a jaws user and perhaps we should have 2 profile users so
that if jaws slows things down it will not effect his use.

Thanks,

[JAWS-Users] Introduction / Thank you

2009-03-20 Thread JennyK
Hello list

I've been lurking on this list for a little while now so I figured it was time
to say hello.
I'm a recording artist and I've been blind for three years or so. I was a
stubborn Window-Eyes user and for some reason I hated Jaws. *Shrugging* I
couldn't tell you why really. When I upgraded my music software (Cakewalk
Sonar) I finally had to do the change and now I have to say that Jaws is
superior in most areas although the configuration can be quite confusing. I've
already had plenty of help from this list without asking a single question so
Thank you for that! The first thing I did was to check out Webvisum and that is
some really nice piece of work and I highly recommend installing it. I also
finally got the right version of Live messenger after reading the posts here
and I was at that point ready to tear all of my hair out so I'm eternally
grateful that I am not bald at this point.
What I do is mostly music but I also do some website coding and I write
Interactive Fiction.
I think that was that.
Enjoy your weekend! I shall return.

Thank you.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Introduction / Thank you

Hello list

I've been lurking on this list for a little while now so I figured it was
time to say hello.
I've already had plenty of help from this list without asking a single
question so Thank you for that! The first thing I did was to check out
Webvisum and that is some really nice piece of work and I highly recommend
installing it. I also finally got the right version of Live messenger
after reading the posts here and I was at that point ready to tear all of
my hair out so I'm eternally grateful that I am not bald at this point.
What I do is mostly music but I also do some website coding and I write
Interactive Fiction.

I think that was that.
Enjoy your weekend! I shall return.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Using Jaws with K1000?

2009-03-20 Thread tim
You have to turn speech off in k1000 and un check the sleep mode in
jaws. To get jaws to talk, and if want the num pad functions for jaws
also have to turn those off as well in k1000.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Using Jaws with K1000?

2009-03-20 Thread Annette Carr
Yes, you can as others have already stated. However, you need to be aware
that when you use JAWS instead of the K1000 voice, there will be some things
that JAWS cannot read. One example is the dialog box for Save As.

But if you do use the K1000 voice and then you Alt+Tab away from K1000, you
have no voice until you release the Alt+Tab.

For the above 2 reasons, I really hate using K1000.

Annette

I am using JAWS 7.0. I am also using IE6. From what I understand, IE8
won't work with JAWS 7.0.
Could I upgrade to IE7? If so, could someone please give me the link to
do so?

Thanks,
Donnie

[JAWS-Users] Silencing JFW

2009-03-20 Thread Kerryann Ifill
HI List,

Either I'm really tired, or its shifted around in jfw10. I have another
programme with its own synthesizer. In jfw9 I set the configuration so jfw
went to sleep when that programme was running. Now I can't seem to locate
where to turn that off. Any suggestions?

Regards
Kerry

Re: [JAWS-Users] Silencing JFW

2009-03-20 Thread E.J. Zufelt

Good evening,

1. Make sure that focus is on the application that you are working with.

2. Open the configuration manager (JAWSKey + F2 then select
Configuration Manager)

3. Open the Set Options menu with Alt S.

4. Select Advanced Options.

The option to enable sleep mode is on that page.

HTH,
Everett
