Re: [JAWS-Users] Help with windows messenger.

2009-04-07 Thread Chrissy
Unless you are running the very latest version of jaws I would not recommend
an upgrade of messenger. version 9 of windows live is not accessible to
anyone using anything lower than jaws 10 with latest upgrades. I learned the
hard way and was glad to be able to find a way to undo this installment.
If you do accidently get 'tricked' into having to install the new messenger,
you can revert back to a working previous version, by first uninstalling
anything related to the new messenger and then installing windows live
messenger 8.1.

Howdy guys. Could someone please tell me if it is worth upgrading to the
next windows messenger? I don't want to do it without good advice, in case
it doesn't tell me anything, and jaws doesn't work. Thanks in advance.

And if you can't uninstall for some reason you can google for Zap Messenger.
You can then download that, run it, click start, and Messenger will be
removed. Seems to do a thorough job.

just install the software, it will automatically install over your old one.

Encryption comes in many forms. Most in software that either encrypts
the file or folder.
A finger print reader will take your finger print, and use it to
encrypt or lock what ever it is assigned to.

Microsoft carries such a product and is where I got mine.

If you got a lot of them. Then your idea is ok, depends on how
secure you want.
i have one email and pass for web sites that I know are no risk.
And those that are I keep in my head or use a encryption tool to
keep them for me. i even have a finger print reader for those that
I just don't want to remember or keep in print like bank and work.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Help with windows messenger.

2009-04-07 Thread Chrissy
I think everytime you log into your current version there should be
something that will offer this upgrade popping up.
As chris suggested in his post you can also directly go to windows live
messenger website and download from there.
same procedure, just download, let the installer set up everything for you,
just follow the instructions it gives and it will install over the current
version.

[JAWS-Users] Help Needed

2009-04-07 Thread Gopalakrishnan
Hello Friends,

My friend is facing some problem regarding her JAWS 8.0 in window live
Messenger. She is having Windows xp in her computer and Window Live messenger
8.1 has been installed. Problem is that the jaws keeps on repeating the title
of the chat window untill she brings her focus to the relevant chat window. if
two or more chat windows r opened, she doesnt get the alerts but JAWS announces
the titles without any interval. Please, anyone can help in solving this
problem.
Any help will be deeply acknowledge.

Thanks,

Hello.
if you are talking about the verification codes or Captchas, then you
can sighn up to Web visum. this is an add-on for the Mozilla firefox
Web browser, that helps you to enter the captcha for this sites that
require it. if you want, I can sent you an invitation to Web visum,
but first you have to install the Mozilla firefox Web browser. you
can get it from the next URL: http://www.mozilla.com

Unless there is an audio link, you won't be able to read them. They are
a graphic and JAWS will not read those verifications. You can try
e-mailing the website and see where you get with that.

you need a program like dvd santa or dvd flick to do this. i
recommend dvd flick since its a free program and does a better job of
creating the dvd files.

Re: [JAWS-Users] make a newspaper

2009-04-07 Thread Patricia Dunbar
Sounds like he's wanting the 2 columns style format maybe? I think back when
I used Word Perfect, it referred to the 2 columns as newspaper columns.
Which reads one column of text and then you go to the next column to
continue and so forth...
I believe that is found in the Edit menu of Word or it's in the Insert menu
to draw tables...

start cutting off the name for instance "and... and... and... and... and..."

I have not found a way to solve this yet, sorry.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Help Needed

Hello Friends,

My friend is facing some problem regarding her JAWS 8.0 in window live
Messenger. She is having Windows xp in her computer and Window Live
messenger 8.1 has been installed. Problem is that the jaws keeps on
repeating the title of the chat window untill she brings her focus to the
relevant chat window. if two or more chat windows r opened, she doesnt get
the alerts but JAWS announces the titles without any interval. Please,
anyone can help in solving this problem.

Any help will be deeply acknowledge.

Thanks,

Gopalakrishnan

Sounds like he's wanting the 2 columns style format maybe? I think back when

I used Word Perfect, it referred to the 2 columns as newspaper columns.
Which reads one column of text and then you go to the next column to
continue and so forth...
I believe that is found in the Edit menu of Word or it's in the Insert menu
to draw tables...

Re: [JAWS-Users] make a newspaper

2009-04-07 Thread brianllee
Hello,

You can use newspaper style columns in Word 2007 the same way as you would
in Word 2003. Press the keystroke Alt+O followed by the letter C and focus
will be where you can use up or down arrow keys to choose the number of
columns to be used. You can also insert a column break in Word 2007 the
same as you do in Word 2003. Pressing the keystroke Alt+I followed by B and
then a C will bring focus to the insert a column break choice and you can
press enter key to insert the break.

You can use Alt+up arrow and Alt+down arrow keystrokes to move column to
column. I have noticed that sometimes the Alt+up or down arrow keys will
put focus on the end of column marker so I have to use right or left arrow
once to move into the column that I am changing to.

In Word 2007, the column and column break choices are under the page layout
tab. Use Alt followed by P and then J to move into the control where you
choose the number of columns to be used. use down or up arrow keys to move
to the choice and press enter key. Use Alt+P followed by B and then C to
move to where you can insert a column break. Press enter to insert the
break.

Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Highlighting Text While Using JAWS Cursor

2009-04-07 Thread John Justice

Gerald,
Try virtualizing the window using the Jaws command Modifier-Control-W.
This makes it possible to copy almost anything on the particular screen.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Highlighting Text While Using JAWS Cursor

Hi listers. Is there any way to highlight text while using the JAWS
cursor? I will probably have to upgrade to AVG 8.5 soon, because support
for 7.5 is apparently ending on April 30. This may involve entering my
AVG license key, which contains more than 30 characters, into an edit
field during the update/registration procedure. However, the license key
is located on the AVG About submenu and is readable only by using the JAWS
cursor. I would like to highlight the license key so that I can copy it
to the clipboard for subsequent pasting into a notepad file or email
message that I can save for easy retrieval. But placing the JAWS cursor
at the beginning of the license key and pressing Shift in combination with
any of the arrow keys does not seem to select the characters in the key.
Switching back to the PC cursor renders the license key inaccessible.
This is my only record of the license key. So is there any way I can
highlight the license key for copying and pasting while
using the JAWS cursor? Or must I memorize this long string of characters
and type it manually? Thanks for any help.

Re: [JAWS-Users] A question about Jaws 9.0

2009-04-07 Thread John Justice
Hello Debbie. What you need to do is to get Jaws into your system tray.
That is an option and it takes Jaws out of the Tab cycle. You can still
get to Jaws by using the Modifier J command.

The option you will need is under the Basics settings.

1. Press the Jaws key and the letter J.
2. press Enter on the Options menu.
3. Press Enter on the Basics option.
4. Tab until you hear a check box which indicates "Run Jaws from System
Tray" and press the space bar to check that option.

5. Tab to Okay and press Enter to save the change.

That's it, Debbie.
Anyone who calls herself "buttercup" is alright with me. I think that is
one of the most beautiful little flowers that grow wild here in the U. S.

Hi all,

I'm currently using Jaws 9.0 and every time I press alt tab, it takes me
to the Jaws option.

When I had 7.0, I was able to eliminate this problem, but I don't remember
what I did.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Question regarding templates or forms using word 2003.

2009-04-07 Thread Brian Lee

Hello,

I put together a couple MP3 files that explain how to use Word 2003 for
creating simple forms and templates. If you want to listen to them then you
can download a zip file at the SendSpace link shown below. The first one
covers using fields without tables and the second one uses form fields in a
table.

Here is the SendSpace link:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/ingk6r

I did not use a lot of time preparing the dictation so it might be choppy.
However, I thought it would be quicker than typing out all the instructions.

Take care.

Thank you for taking the time to explain this. I can make tables and columns
in Word, but always like to see if there's something I'm missing or maybe
doing it a better way.

[JAWS-Users] Jaws 9 and Sonar 3 Producer Edition

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone might have a tutorial on the best ways to use Sonar 3
Producer edition with Jaws? I'm just learning my way around it and while the
menus are easily accessible there are selection boxes I can't get the cursor
too. Any tips would be appreciated and a tutorial would be fabulous, is there
such a thing?
