Refreshing the vertual buffer with incert escape. Next check for links with the vertual curser off with incert pluss f7 then turn on the vertual buffer. See if that helps and then refresh the vertual buffer if needed. -Original Message- From: jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Siobhan Sent: Thursday, April 16, 2009 6:10 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws ten and the hotmail website I got only one part of that, turn off the virtual cursor that I know how to do. Re: [JAWS-Users] How Can I Stop JAWS From Saying "Read Only Edit?"
Hi Donnie, JAWS Configuration manager with insert+6, and ctrl-shift-d if you also want to change the default JAWS configuration here. Alt-s for Set Options, then m for Speech and Sounds manager: Tab to Edit Current Scheme button and activate with spacebar. Now hit ctrl+Tab, and you are in the Control Type list; press r twice to highlight Read-Only Edit, and then down-arrow to choose your appropriate radiobutton; and press the tab to OK and then press enter; and then save, or alt-F4 and save when exiting. - Original Message - From: "Donnie Parrett" To: "JAWS-Users" Sent: Thursday, April 16, 2009 6:22 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] How Can I Stop JAWS From Saying "Read Only Edit?" Re: [JAWS-Users] How can i get rid of links when oe opens?
Hi David, Try this, 1. While in Outlook Express and without any messages open press the control, shift, + the letter O keys simultaneously for options. 2. The first tab is your "General " tab. 3. The first box on this tab reads, "When starting, go directly to my 'Inbox' folder". Make sure this box is checked. 4. If it isn't, press the space bar to check it. 5. Now you can tab to okay and press enter or just press enter if this is the only change you are going to make. I hope this has fixed your problem. Take care. Cannon has decided to market equipment which serves many purposes such as one of their best selling models which is a scanner, a fax machine and a telephone answering device. The more complex you get with these devices, the less likely you will find one which is compatible with your software. In a recent survey which occurred in 2007, Hewlett Packard outsold Cannon in basic scanners at the ratio of about 3 to 1. I agree with you that at one time Cannon made fine scanners but these days, they just aren't interested in the simple scanner market. There just isn't enough money in it any more. The most wonderful thing about current versions of Open Book is that during the setup process, the software will go out onto the web and locate drivers which it will then use to operate smoothly. Unfortunately, the last time I helped a friend set up his Open Book, the software could not locate the proper drivers and we had to find them on the scanner's software disk. In answer to your question, there are many manufacturers who make scanners but relatively few of them are completely compatible with Open Book unless you can load the drivers and they are recognized. Re: [JAWS-Users] Scanner recommendations
Steve, I didn't see your reference to Omnipage when I responded to your request. However, Hewlett Packard makes software which is bundled with their scanners and it is quite Jaws friendly. With that software, you won't really need Open Book or Kurzweil. I'm not sure Omnipage is still in production. Re: [JAWS-Users] Scanner recommendations
Unfortunately, that is an incorrect statement. Although, at one time, the Cannon scanners were recommended as the most compatible for use with Open Book and other scanning software, it is becoming more and more difficult to locate a Cannon scanner which is only that, a scanner. In my opinion, based on 20 years of experience, I recommend Hewlett Packard as the most successful place to begin when trying to find a scanner which functions happily with Open Book or with Kurzweil. If you look hard enough, you might be able to find one of the simpler Cannon scanners on line but I doubt sincerely that you would find one in a store.
