Hello Steve,
You might want to run a registry cleaner on your system. You can get a
free one that works well with jaws called CCleaner. Just google it and
you should be able to find it very easily.

Hi All,

I'm new on the list. I'm using JAWS 6.1 Home with XP home edition. I
also run Kurzweil 1000 on the same machine. I've been having all kinds
of problems lately. I'm considering an upgrade to JAWS 10.0 but need to
find and sort out my troubles first. Many times when I load JAWS I get a
window pop up saying,"application file for JAWS dialogue", asking if I
would like to send an error report. I usually say no and it goes away
and all seems fine. Then there are times that when I unload JAWS with
Insert and F4, it will keep talking after hitting the enter key and the
computer is half frozen afterwards sometimes taking amanual shutdown to
get things going again. I've already run a repair with my JAWS program
disc. I'm at a real loss here and would love to hear any advice I can
get. Thanks in advance.

Re: [JAWS-Users] errorcheck

2009-04-30 Thread Steve S.

Hi Cletus,

You must check the two buttons in the dialogue box and it will fix the
errors. I'm not sure about reporting. When its finished the computer will
boot up out of safe mode and Jaws can be loaded. Good luck.

I have seemed to have lost all my windows sounds except that loud beep while
performing some tasks. This happened before but usually after a couple of
reboots the window sounds returned. Not this time I am afraid! Under sounds
and audio devices I made sure nothing was muted under the volume tab, the
various sliders were at a reasonable level higher than 50%, and show volume
in the system tray was checked. Anything else I can do? I thought this topic
was discussed a while back but I can not locate any document I might have

Re: [JAWS-Users] how turn off auto forms mode

2009-04-30 Thread Marilyn Walker
Kurt and Glenn: I went to programs, jaws 10 and arrowed down to jaws and
entered. There I found a bunch of new features and help stuff, including
all about the auto forms mode and turning it off. What I found (and it
would work by going to the configuration manager) is that when something
says"on" you can turn it off by hitting the space bar. When I install a new
jaws, I always go to basics and turn off most of the things that annoy me.
So, jaws needs to be relearned now and then and that's what I'm now doing.
Thanks for your advice. marilyn

[JAWS-Users] jaws 10 & notepad

2009-04-30 Thread Gary Hale
How can I get JAWS to read Microsoft Notepad when the document must be
scrolled down to continue? I can't get past the scroll button at the bottom
of the window.

I use Word 2007 for most text applications, but I'd still like to use
Notepad once in a while.

After checking the archives, these are some things I've tried with Notepad
and JAWS 10:

I set Ariel Black text size to 8 points with regular width.

I used the various cursors, and the virtual window.

I threatened JAWS by saying that NVDA and Windows Eyes look pretty good
right now.

One thing I should say is that I use High Contrast Black and I have not
changed colors yet.

I run Vista Premium and JAWS 10 on a Dell with lots of RAM, etc.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

[JAWS-Users] RE JAWS and Biblical Greek

2009-04-30 Thread First CRC Tom Vos
Mark,
I can't give you all the answers, so as someone else mentioned, a call to
Freedom Scientific might be helpful.

As the director of Optasia Ministry, I can tell you that we have made
some effort to help those who want to read Biblical Greek.
First, if you are using a Pac Mate or some other Braille display, you
will be able to read the Biblical Greek, by learning a few symbols.
An alpha in Greek is the same as an A in English.
A beta is the same as a B.
But some Greek characters don't have an exact equivalent in English text.
That's why there are a few extra symbols.
If you are reasonably fluent at reading Graille, you may wish to explore
this option.
We can provide you with the Greek text in Braille reading format, or you
can visit the site of the Bartimaeus Alliance for the Blind, which is
where we got the material.

Second, I have made some effort to adjust the Greek text into a form that
will sound similar to the way we normally pronounce the Greek words.
This means, for example, I have changed the Braile reading character for
theta into "th".This may be helpful for reading, but if you use this
in seminary studies you will need to understand the changes I have made
to the text so that you can understand the text properly.

Then, I want you to know that Optasia Ministry has a significant library
of study resources that will help you in your studies.
We have Introductions to the Old and New Testament.
Theologies of the Old and New Testament
The Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament and the Theological
Dictionary of the New Testament (single volume) which will enable you to
do individual word studies.
We have a variety of Bible translations.
We have some very important commentaries available, such as the New
International Commentary on the New Testament (adding that right now),
Many volumes of the Word Biblical Commentary series, and most of the NIV
Application Commentary, among others.
In addition you will find books on leadership, apologetics, homiletics,
prayer and spirituality, pastoral care and a number of devotional books.

We offer this material free of charge. If you would like to receive the
library:
Send me your name and mailing address
A simple statement that you are blind or have a visual disability
And your preference for receiving the material on a single DVD or a set
of three CD's.

If you have more questions, or to request the library, please contact me
at

Blessings,

To turn off Auto Forms Mode do the following:
>From the IE window press insert F2 and then select configuration manager
from the list.
>From the Set Options Menu, select forms mode options.
Un check the enable auto forms mode check box.
tab to ok.
Press Alt F4 to close the configuration manager.
When asked to save your changes, press yes.

That should do it

Re: [JAWS-Users] errorcheck

2009-04-30 Thread Steve S.

Hi Cletus,

In XP the dialogue box for the error check has the option to run the check
on the next re-start after requesting it
If you'd like I have some good instructions that can walk you through it.
Just ask if you want them.

Hello everyone
Can the program ErrorCheck, to check the hard disc for errors, be run with
JAWS?
I have heard that it runs in safe mode in which it is totally inaccessible
with JAWS.

Thanks.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS vs. Windows

2009-04-30 Thread Steve S.
Hi All,

I'm new on the list. I'm using JAWS 6.1 Home with XP home edition. I also run
Kurzweil 1000 on the same machine. I've been having all kinds of problems
lately. I'm considering an upgrade to JAWS 10.0 but need to find and sort out
my troubles first. Many times when I load JAWS I get a window pop up
saying,"application file for JAWS dialogue", asking if I would like to send an
error report. I usually say no and it goes away and all seems fine. Then
there are times that when I unload JAWS with Insert and F4, it will keep
talking after hitting the enter key and the computer is half frozen afterwards
sometimes taking amanual shutdown to get things going again. I've already run
a repair with my JAWS program disc. I'm at a real loss here and would love to
hear any advice I can get. Thanks in advance.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS And Biblical Greek

2009-04-30 Thread Mark
Hi
I am earning my ministerial degree and as part of this will need to learn
Biblical Greek. My understanding is that ancient Greek is far different then
modern Greek. Therefore, my question is.will JAWS read it? If not what are my
options to help JAWS to read as much of it as possible?
 Thank you.

God bless,
Mark

[JAWS-Users] lost windows sounds

2009-04-30 Thread Leonard Morris
I have seemed to have lost all my windows sounds except that loud beep while
performing some tasks. This happened before but usually after a couple of
reboots the window sounds returned. Not this time I am afraid! Under sounds and
audio devices I made sure nothing was muted under the volume tab, the various
sliders were at a reasonable level higher than 50%, and show volume in the
system tray was checked. Anything else I can do? I thought this topic was
discussed a while back but I can not locate any document I might have saved to
refer to when needed.
