In XP the dialogue box for the error check has the option to run the
check on the next re-start after requesting it
If you'd like I have some good instructions that can walk you through it.

Can the program ErrorCheck, to check the hard disc for errors, be run
with JAWS?
I have heard that it runs in safe mode in which it is totally
inaccessible with JAWS.
