Re: [JAWS-Users] two another queries regarding portable jaws and dualbooting

2009-05-29 Thread shikher goyal
hello and thanks
first of all, about Jaws, its ok...
secondly my question about dual booting was some different.
in my lapi, there are four drives(c:, d:, e:,f:) and configuration is
also suitable for dual booting.
now come to the point, i want two drives i.e. c: and e: for XP and
d:, f: for vista.
i don't want to show d: and f:(vista's partitions) while i'm in XP and
similar during running vista not to show XP's two partitions to avoid
infecting both OS files from virus if virus comes during work in one
OS.
and to keep data private.

i want two- two partitions one for instaling OS and second for keeping data.

actually i had both XP and vista instaled at my laptop previously but
due to virus infection at my both drives which had XP and vista, i had
to reinstall. now i'm running XP only. that's whyy
i think i've cleared my querey.

 Hello Shikher,

JAWS can run from a thumb drive with a few restrictions. First of all,
video intercept needs to be installed on the computer before JAWS can run on
it. Freedom Scientific makes the Video Intercept file available for
download along with the thumb drive version of JAWS. JAWS will run as a
demo (40 minutes at a time) if the computer doesn't have a license of JAWS
on it. If the computer already has a license of JAWS with video intercept
installed then JAWS should work as a fully functional program on the
computer. The video intercept file and the installation file for the JAWS
thumb drive version can be downloaded from the JAWS download area of the
 Freedom Scientific site.

You can install Vista and XP on the same system. If you have separate
partitions then they should have drive letters assigned to them. If not
then you can assign drive letters to partitions through disk management. If
the partitions have drive letters assigned then when you install the
operating system just install it to a separate volume. There will be a menu
when you start your computer for you to choose which operating system to
load. There is a default waiting time of 30 seconds for your answer after
which the system will default to one of the operating systems. You can
change this waiting time and make it longer if you want to by going under
the system choice in the control panel. In the system applet go to the
advanced page. Open the startup and recovery settings and you will find a
spin box where you can adjust the time the system waits before loading the
 default operating system.

If you haven't created the partitions then it becomes a little more tricky.
It can be done from the command prompt in XP with the diskpart command and
switches. In Vista, partitions can be shrunk and extended from within the
disk management capabilities in Windows. If using XP there is a very good
third party program for shrinking and extending partitions in XP. It is
called Disk Partition Manager and is from Easeus, but it is not JAWS
friendly. I have used it with sighted assistance.

I'm sure you know this, but as a word of caution you have to be extremely
careful adjusting partition sizes as making a mistake could result in a lot
 of data loss.

   Take care.

 hello to all
as clear from subject line, i've two queries.
 01. like in NVDA(screen reader), it is not necessary to instal, in
other words, we only have to only instal in pen drive and we can
access any computer by that pen drive.
so my question is that can we do same with jaws and if yes then how?

 02. i want to instal both XP and vista at my laptop and it's easy and
 possible.
but i want to keep both OS seperate from onne another's interection.
in other words, there are 4 partitions in my laptop. and i want two
for XP and another two for vista OS. and do not show me vista's two
partitions during running XP and XP partitions during running vista
 OS.
it would prevent access to data and wwill prevent spreading virus.
so is it possible and how?

Hi Shikher,
You really should post this to the blind-computing list.
Although I don't believe you be able to accomplish this,
the subject is better suited for another list rather than the Jaws list.
If you want to post it there, or contact me off-list,
I'll be glad to explain about what you are wanting to do.

Dear List,

I have already posted this on the blind Computing list but David F has
agreed that in this instance it might be useful to post here also.

I have been using the revolutionary EyePal Scanner for 3 months now.
Some
of
you may have heard about this special scanner which to keep it on
topic

does
work well with Jaws. . I have decided to write a user review. The
headline
is that it is awesome in some ways and I find it is now indispensable
for
me. However it is let down by buggy software.

The link to the review is below. I hope you find it interesting if you
decide to read it. Needless to say I have no connection with any of
the
manufactures or retailers of this device so this is completely
independent
as you will probably tell from some of the criticisms.

[JAWS-Users] Jaws 10 and refresh virtual buffer

2009-05-29 Thread Oleti Venkata, Nagendra
Hello All,
I have an application that uses an Iframe to load a full document. I am using
JAWS 10 with IE7 and jaws can't recognize the Iframe for the first time when it
loads or when the Iframe content changes. Refreshing the virtual buffer using
keystroke does work and works as expected. Has anyone experienced the same? Is
there a way to refresh the virtual buffer of JAWS automatically?

Hello David,

I've read your review and just wondered whether you are aware of, or
have perhaps tested the plustec optic book 4600 scanner with Kurzweil's
latest version 11.03, before making the observation that this extremely
expensive Eyepal scanner performs better than Kurzweil?

I was not yet able to obtain the Plustec scanner, though I am using
Kurzweil, but
It can apparently scan right into the binding of books, eliminating the
problem one has with other flatbed scanners and according to discussions
on the Kurzweil list, its performance is excellent and together with
Kurzweil, amounting to about probably a quarter of the price of the
device you've just mentioned.

Even with a normal flatbed Epson scanner, 80% of books I've scanned,
scan acceptable with Kurzweil, on double page scanning, if one scans
sideways.

  Hello David,
This sounds like one heck of a piece of equipment, especially for
college
students. Have you tried it with math books, or know of anyone who
has had
success with them? If so, how well did it work?
  Thanks,

   Dear List,

I have already posted this on the blind Computing list but David F
has
agreed that in this instance it might be useful to post here also.

I have been using the revolutionary EyePal Scanner for 3 months now.

Some of you may have heard about this special scanner which to keep
it
on topic does work well with Jaws. . I have decided to write a user
review. The headline is that it is awesome in some ways and I find
it
is now indispensable for me. However it is let down by buggy
software.

The link to the review is below. I hope you find it interesting if
you
decide to read it. Needless to say I have no connection with any of

the manufactures or retailers of this device so this is completely
independent as you will probably tell from some of the criticisms.

Re: [JAWS-Users] SP3 installation

2009-05-29 Thread Brian Lee

Hello Leonard,

To check the status of the cryptographic service, start by bringing up the
run dialog box by using the Windows key with R keystroke. At the prompt
type services.msc and focus should go to a list of services on your system.
If by chance the services list doesn't come up then type CMD at the run
prompt, press enter key, and then type services.msc and press enter key.
Move into the list of services and press home key to make sure you are at
the top of the list. type C or CR until you hear cryptSvc or cryptographic
service. JAWS will give you information about the service. Near the end of
the information will be the status. It should be set to started
automatically. If the service isn't running then press application key, use
down arrow to the start choice and press enter to start the service. After
doing that press application key again and open properties. Use tab to the
startup type and make sure automatic is chosen. Use tab to OK and press
spacebar.

Try installing SP3 again.

Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws 10 and refresh virtual buffer

2009-05-29 Thread Brian Lee
I don't know if the update notification for frames affects inline frames or
not. You might set the notification update in verbosity to something other
than off and make sure inline frames is set to on.

How about turning screen echo to all instead of highlighted? It might be
that JAWS will read the text being updated in the inline frame as it is
painted to the screen.

It seems to me that either writing a simple script or adding a function to
be called in an existing script are possibilities. You might write your
post to the user group who discuss JAWS scripts.

Take care.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Jaws 10 and refresh virtual buffer

Hello All,
I have an application that uses an Iframe to load a full document. I am
using JAWS 10 with IE7 and jaws can't recognize the Iframe for the first
time when it loads or when the Iframe content changes. Refreshing the
virtual buffer using keystroke does work and works as expected. Has anyone
experienced the same? Is there a way to refresh the virtual buffer of JAWS
automatically?

TIA
Nagendra

[JAWS-Users] jaws friendly guestbook

2009-05-29 Thread Lenny McHugh
Well after hours of searching, I located a very jaws friendly guestbook for
my home page. http://smartgb.com has a free gb that has banner adds. I did
not check the price of a no banner ad guestbook.
It was very simple to set up and very easy to post for visitors using screen
