This is a list for the discussion of Jaws,
hence the name, jaws-users.
So asking for help with Window Eyes, is absolutely off-topic.

[JAWS-Users] Keystroke to go back to default voice rate

Insert + Escape twice quickly isn't working here. Don't know what the

Hi,
I found that in jaws ten holding the insert key and hitting the escape key
twice quickly seems to do it. In jaws elevven just insert key with the
escape seems to fix it.

Thank you for your response. In Jaws 7, 8, & 9 using the Insert + Escape

In Jaws 10.0.1151 the Insert + Escape keystroke will return Jaws to its

I am using outlook 2007, you can download a free version for 60 days, or
just purchase the email client for just 80 bucks. There are a few
adjustments that need to be made to make Jaws work write, but after that
your good to go. Better than outlook express, you will wonder why you
didn't switch sooner! JMO

JAWS 11, Windows 7, and email

Hello all. This question is probably better asked in the Blind-Computing
list, but, my emails don't seem to be getting through there.

For those who are currently running Windows7, what email client are you
using. I'm planning to upgrade soon, so, I might as well get use to
using

something
other than Outlook Express and/or Windows Mail.

I sincerely hope the answer is not Windows Live Mail.

Follow the instructions I outlined earlier (see below) to remove ctrl alt I
as the unwanted keystroke.

If I understand your issue, you should be able to find the specific shortcut
to your screen readers (jaws 10) on your desktop in XP. Locate it and alt
enter to bring up properys. Tab down until you hear the shortcut key and
backspace once. this will erase the keystroke. Now tab down until you hear
apply and press spacebar, tab to ok and you are done.

Re: [JAWS-Users] successful win 7 install, works well with jaws 10

2009-10-22 Thread ChB
I had help putting in the license and stuff it asks, right at the beginning.
Then I just let it run its course. Then I got the jaws cd and just popped it
in and went from there. I don't know if one can do this totally unassisted,
I just always get it done with the initial launch of the installs, when
someone is available to help with the numbers and stuff. There is a thing
called unattended installs or at least used to be for xp, have never tried
this though. This is what companies also use, when they have a lot of
computers to install the same systems on, so they do not have to watch them
all while installing is in progress.
As far as clean installing, main thing is to make sure you have all your
files saved before wiping the drives clean. And then have all drivers handy
you may need. With win 7 I did not even need my additional windows 7
drivers, I had already downloaded prior.

Hi, you can do an in place upgrade (supported only on certain paths) or a
custom (clean) install. Either way you should back up your files, and I

[JAWS-Users] "m" key muted in lower case

2009-10-22 Thread Fred Adams
While setting up a toggle mute in the jaws manager I accidently muted the
letter "m" in lower case. I have gone back in the jaws manager several times
but I cannot restore the letter "m" back unmuted in lower case. I am having
no problem with the letter "M" in upper case. I would appreciate any
suggestions. I Am using windows XP and jaws 11.0.

Best wishes,

Re: [JAWS-Users] GoldWave Settings

2009-10-22 Thread Ann M. Medlar

Hi folks,
Going through GoldWave tutorial. Want to document GoldWave settings and
tutorial for future reference. Very time consuming having to go back to MP3
file.
I launch GW, press F11 for control properties as recommended in tutorial.
There are tabs: play, record, volume, visual, device, test, troubleshoot.
Is there an easy way that I can copy options with recommended setting so I
can paste into a doc without typing info?
I want to have each settings and its value or checked or unchecked in a doc
for future reference.

Any ideas welcomd.
thanks,
Ann

It should be available on Microsoft's website since it's their product. And
you can buy just outlook from any office Depot or where ever software is
sold.

For those who are currently running Windows7, what email client are you
using. I'm planning to upgrade soon, so, I might as well get use to using
something
other than Outlook Express and/or Windows Mail.

I sincerely hope the answer is not Windows Live Mail.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws v11 and OE not reading text

2009-10-22 Thread Chris Hallsworth
Hey, I'm having some fun when using JAWS 11 with Windows Live Mail, not! The
HTML features are very funky. For example, it may show nothing, or it may
even show the lines of the program window, including toolbars! Has anyone
else experienced this problem? I will report this to my JAWS dealer tomorrow
or soon, but just want your thoughts first. Reading messages in plain text
works, but I prefer reading in HTML. This is under Windows 7 RC and the
latest Windows Live Mail as far as I know.

Just changing the view, and task tool bar to the way your screen reader will
like it. In my case it's jaws. But Window Eyes users use it also. You can
also add and remove things from your folder list.

JAWS 11, Windows 7, and email

Hello all. This question is probably better asked in the Blind-Computing
list, but, my emails don't seem to be getting through there.

For those who are currently running Windows7, what email client are you
using. I'm planning to upgrade soon, so, I might as well get use to using
something
other than Outlook Express and/or Windows Mail.

I sincerely hope the answer is not Windows Live Mail.

2009-10-22 Thread graham smith

To be honest it is quite similar to Outlook Express.

The folder structure works a little differently and you have an unread
folder which is quite good but it is still early days for me. There is no
first letter navigation in the folder structure and messages wont read
automatically on opening them.

[JAWS-Users] download reporting progress

2009-10-22 Thread Lenny McHugh
This has only started happening for me in the new release of jaws 11. I am
also running XP home sp3 and IE 8. When I do a download quite often between
50 and 80% it starts reporting the progress in descending order. It may say
50% 55% 60% 68% then -63% -60% 55% and continue negative reporting until it
states 100%.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Sappy 5 engine not reading folder list in OE

2009-10-22 Thread Van Der Walt Riana
Hello Burt,

I don't use OE, but I use Jaws 8, 9 and 10 on different computers, with
sappi 5 and outlook, MS Word, notepad and Kurzweil respectively and
apart from on one pc where it keeps changing to sapi 5, a specific
espeak voice when on the web with internet explorer, still version 6,
even though the default is set to eloquence, I don't have that problem.

It does however not change back to eloquence, or the other way round,
when reading an html message in outlook.

Could it perhaps be that your menu voice is still set to eloquence,
while your pc voice is sappi 5?

Regards

Riana
