Re: [JAWS-Users] Copying Formatting In Excel 2007

2010-02-04 Thread Brian Lee
Hello Bill,

1. Navigate to the cell that contains the formatting you want to use. Use
CTRL+C, which will copy text, formatting, formulas, etc.

2. Use CTRL+G to bring up the "go to" dialog and type in the range
a9:a100 if you want rows 9 through 100 to have a certain formatting
in column A. Excel 2007 has well over 100 rows that can be used. Press
enter key to complete the selecting of the range of cells.

3. Press the application key and use down arrow to the "paste special"
choice. Press enter key on that choice.

4. In the resulting dialog box use down arrow in the group of radio buttons
for selecting what is to be pasted until you get to the choice for
formatting and press enter key.

5. Use an arrow key or another navigating command to remove selection.

6. Use insert+f in a few of the cells to confirm that the formatting you
wanted was used.

Take care.

Hi,

How do you copy the complete formatting that is in one cell to another in
Excel 2007?

I already have data in the cells.

Can I also paste the formatting starting in position A9 to the bottom of
column A? I do not want to effect the formatting above row

8.

How can I do the two above.

Thank you,

Bill

[JAWS-Users] What FS says about I.E. 8 and J9

2010-02-04 Thread Norma A. Boge

Hey everyone,

I wrote to FS about my problems with I.E. 8 and Jaws 9. They said
that Jaws 9 does not work with I.E. 8, the first release of Jaws to
work with I.E. 8 is version 10.

I know there are those of you who are using this combination, and I'm
glad you're having good luck with it. I guess I'll roll back to I.E.
7 for the time being.

Thanks,
Norma

outlook express. When I look at the to field when reading the message it
says "undisclosed recipient." How is this done?

Another thing that I've found that works is to either right click and then
hit enter when it says open. If that doesn't work, try hitting the
applications key and then enter on open.
I'm not sure what has caused this but I've been experiencing it since last
summer. It's very annoying.

As for screen resolution, my XP machine here at work is set at 1152 by 864

If you'd like, I'd be more than happy to get with you on skype, and possibly

Hello Don,

I certainly understand your frustrations, however, I experience none of
those issues. I don't have any scripts loaded, and read the header
fields by tabbing through them. Perhaps, uninstalling JAWS scripts,
then uninstalling and re-installing Windows Live Mail may improve it's
performance.

It has a couple of minor quirks, but, after trying several different
clients, I chose it because I could sync all my email accounts with my
Windows Live email account.

Each email program I tried had one quirk or the other, so, I find WLM
is the best compromise for my needs.

I hope you are able to get better performance from it, but, I would
never suggest that it is the best, or easiest, just my personal
preference.

Using JAWS 11 latest with Windows Live Mail, I can move between
folders all works well. It will announce unread and attachment when
appropriate, all is well. However, if I hit Enter on a message to
read the message, it will read only about 50% of the time. Most of
the time, the Delete key will announce "delete" but do nothing. Even
using Control + D, I can only read a couple of messages before it
stops reading correctly and nothing I do short of unloading and
starting JAWS again will it start reading again. If I attempt to
compose a message it gets confused regarding Forms Mode, and again
sometimes, the only way to get it right again is to restart JAWS.
These issues make it unusable for me! Strangely, the scripts that came
with JAWS 10 work much better for me!

Of course, there are also minor issues with both 10 and 11. The
address autocomplete name does not get announced. The number of
unread messages are not announced as you arrow through the folders.
The last thing I remember off the top of my head is that the hotkeys
Alt + 1 through Alt + 3 do not work to read those header fields to
read the From, Date, and To fields. Using Alt + 6 to read the Subject
is the only such header info that reads reliably.

I am fairly sure that Windows Live Mail will not work well with JAWS 8
since I do not think Live existed at the time. I have had the best
luck using JAWS 10 with Windows Live Mail! In fact, I have been
switching from JAWS 11 back to JAWS 10 just to read mail and then
switching back to JAWS 11 for everything else. FS claims an update is
imminent. I hope it fixes this issue.

This is part of a new feature called filter duplicate links, where if
JAWS sees a graphical link and a text link that points to the same
thing, it filters out the graphical link.

Hi John,

Oh, I totally get what you are saying. And I fully expect FS to tell

pony up the bread and get an SMA. Then I can go straight to Jaws 11
and the associated issues, ha ha.

Hi Norma,

I will tell you that when I upgraded from Jaws 6.2 to Jaws 9, I had many
crashes when using IE 7. I finally got tired of it and upgraded to Jaws 10.
Magically, all of the IE crashes stopped. So, my point is that it may not
be IE 8 that is the problem, but Jaws 9.

Just my two cents.

Hi Gerald,

Thanks for the reminder about I.E. with no add-ons. Unfortunately I

roll back to I.E. 7. I have some concern about the security

Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws and windows live!

2010-02-04 Thread Donald Marang
Does that mean you deleted the "Windows Live Mail" scripts in the shared
directory that are shipped with JAWS? I have no user scripts loaded. I
have considered copying the JAWS 10 scripts to the JAWS 11 user directory.
Not usually advised, but easy to reverse if it makes matters worse. It
would make life easier if I did not need to switch back and forth!

Hello Don,

I certainly understand your frustrations, however, I experience none of
those issues. I don't have any scripts loaded, and read the header fields
by tabbing through them. Perhaps, uninstalling JAWS scripts, then
uninstalling and re-installing Windows Live Mail may improve it's
performance.

It has a couple of minor quirks, but, after trying several different
clients, I chose it because I could sync all my email accounts with my
Windows Live email account.

Each email program I tried had one quirk or the other, so, I find WLM is
the best compromise for my needs.

I hope you are able to get better performance from it, but, I would never
suggest that it is the best, or easiest, just my personal preference.

Using JAWS 11 latest with Windows Live Mail, I can move between folders
all works well. It will announce unread and attachment when appropriate,
all is well. However, if I hit Enter on a message to read the message,
it will read only about 50% of the time. Most of the time, the Delete
key will announce "delete" but do nothing. Even using Control + D, I can
only read a couple of messages before it stops reading correctly and
nothing I do short of unloading and starting JAWS again will it start
reading again. If I attempt to compose a message it gets confused
regarding Forms Mode, and again sometimes, the only way to get it right
again is to restart JAWS. These issues make it unusable for me!
Strangely, the scripts that came with JAWS 10 work much better for me!

Of course, there are also minor issues with both 10 and 11. The address
autocomplete name does not get announced. The number of unread messages
are not announced as you arrow through the folders. The last thing I
remember off the top of my head is that the hotkeys Alt + 1 through Alt +
3 do not work to read those header fields to read the From, Date, and To
fields. Using Alt + 6 to read the Subject is the only such header info
that reads reliably.

I also use JAWS 9.0.2191U with IE 8, but have not experienced the problems
navigating the Amazon site you have encountered. Try launching IE 8 with no
add-ons to see if the problems still persist. To do this, go to Start menu,
All Programs,Accessories, System Tools, Internet Explorer-No Add-Ons. If
you continue to have problems with IE 8, consider rolling back to IE 7.

Hey people,

I'm encountering some issues with I.E. 8 and Jaws 9.0.2191. Specifically,
on amazon.com, Jaws is not reading combo boxes correctly, typing into an
edit box is sluggish, and moving through headings, etc. is sluggish. In
general, I get a lot of "I.E. needs to close" messages, Jaws getting stuck
in forms mode, a need to refresh frequently, and just inadequate
performance of the browser and Jaws.
If there are specific settings I need to enact, somebody please point me
to the info. I do also use Firefox, and the issues are fewer but things
aren't perfect there, either.
