[JAWS-Users] question about Sapi 5

2010-02-07 Thread Wayne Scott
i know I asked this before, but I accidentally deleted the instructions on how
to do this. How do you turn up the volume on sapi 5 without turning up the
volume on the system? My system is loud, but Sapi is soft. I bounce between
Sapi and Eloquence. Eventually, if I get a braille display, it will be no
speech. Any help would be greatly appreciagted. Waune

There is no such thing as importing information if you use IRS forms.
You keep your own records, and start out from scratch each year.
You have to know how to fill out the tax forms on your own, to use
this

method, or be willing to read enough to learn.

Re: [JAWS-Users] copy entire table

2010-02-07 Thread Brian Lee
Hi Ann,

Your favorites will likely be in the favorites folder for your user account.
Check in c:\documents and settings\your user account\favorites. (replace
the "your user account" part of the path with the user account you regularly
use.

You might want to add the favorites choice in your start menu if it isn't
there already. Press the Windows key and then press the letter "a" to see
if the favorites choice is in the start menu. If not you can add it from
the "taskbar and start menu" applet in the control panel.

1. Open control panel from the start menu.

2. Press the letter "T" to move to the taskbar and start menu items choice
and press enter key

3. Use CTRL+tab key to move to the start menu page of the dialog box.

4. Use tab key to move to the customize button and press spacebar.

5. Use CTRL+tab key to move to the Advanced page.

6. Press tab key to move to the "start menu items" tree view.

7. Press the letter "F" to move focus to the favorites item. If it has a
status of being off then use spacebar to give it a status of being on.

8. Press tab key to the OK button and press spacebar.

9. Use the tab key to the "apply" button and press spacebar.

10.Use tab key to the OK button and press spacebar.

11.Use Alt+F4 to close the control panel.

You can use the letter "A" in the start menu to move to your favorites,
which is easier than using the path to the folder in Windows. You can use
CTRL+D while in Internet Explorer to add a favorite directly to the first
level of favorites in your user account. If you use Alt+A you can use the
resulting dialog to add your favorites to other folders or subfolders.

Take care.

Ok, to find out the current running version of Skype, Press Alt plus H then,
press up arrow once then press enter, that will tell you what version of
Skype your running, you might have to do some mousing around because that
dialog box isn't autimattically read by JFW.

Hope that helps

Hi,
On certain web sites, I want to copy many tables with its contents.
I change verbosity for documentation presentation to screen layout so
table is horizontal. When I copy info into word data in table has
correct labels.
I type "T" for table, I want to copy this table info. So I shift down

until I hear end of table and press control+c. I type t again and press
windows+c to append about 10 more tables using shift arrow key.
Is there a key stroke to select entire table? Some tables have 2 rows
and
some have 55 or more rows. I take all this table info from a web site
copy into

word for easy reading and analysis.

Re: [JAWS-Users] copy entire table

2010-02-07 Thread Ann M. Medlar

Well I am Ann and not Sue but Sue can chime in as well.
Go to site find table you wish to copy.
Unsure if you wish to have table columns to go across page or down page.
But I find it easier to read by doing the following:
Insert +v type D for documentation presentation. Most likely you need to
type d twice. Space bar until you hear screen layout press escape to get
out of verbosity. You need to stay in site to keep verbosity set at screen
layout.

Press up arrow key for table info,
press F8 to highlight table info,
control+c to clipboard.
Type t to go to additional table info,
up arrow once, F8 to select, windows+c to append to clipboard
Open word
control+v to paste
The table info I copied has many columns.
I wanted 1 line of data per line so I widened word margins.
Alt+f, U for page setup tab to left and right, up or down arrow to increase
or decrease, i changed to .5 or half inch.
Let me know if it works for you. good luck. Glad to find out about the F8
key.

Ann

To better solve your dilemma, could you provide a little more information?
What Operating System (XP, Vista, or 7) and email client (Outlook, Outlook

Hi Ann,

Press function key 8 when focus is on the line that describes how many
rows
and columns are in the table. When you move to a table using the letter
"T"

then use up arrow key if necessary and you should find text that tells you
the table has so many rows and so many columns. In the verbosity you
should

probably change the "select and copy" choice under the virtual cursor
options to "select and copy using full screen highlight" instead of
selecting and copying using virtual cursor. To do this use JAWS key V to
bring up the JAWS verbosity. Press the letter "V" to move to the virtual
cursor options and use down arrow key to find the select and copy choice.
If it is set to "from virtual cursor" then use spacebar to change it to
"full screen highlight." Also change the documentation layout to "screen
highlight" as you mentioned.

The f8 key can simularly be used to select a list of items. When you move
focus to the text that tells how many items are in a list you can use the
F8

key to select the entire list.

Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] copy entire table

2010-02-07 Thread Donald Marang
There is a quick and easy way to copy tables from Internet Explorer. I do
not know if the Document presentation setting matters, I just leave it set
to simple layout. Press 'T' to get to the first column and row of the table
you want to copy. Up arrow once to where JAWS announces the number of rows
and columns in the table. Simply press F8 and the entire table will be
selected. I am not sure if this is a JAWS hotkey or a Microsoft hotkey, but
it works great! Now press Control + C to copy the table.

The table can be pasted into Word or Excel and will retain the table
structure and formats.

Hope this is what you wanted.

I

notice is that my screen reader would halt and it would stop reading.

I would need to sometimes, go back to the top of the email
and read the email using the say all function.

What might be the causing factor here that is causing my screen reader not
fully read the entire email? Again, the problem is I am noticing that when
getting toward the bottom of an email, my screen reader (jaws) would
stopand

why is this happening?

Re: [JAWS-Users] copy entire table

2010-02-07 Thread Ann M. Medlar

Hi,
On certain web sites, I want to copy many tables with its contents.
I change verbosity for documentation presentation to screen layout so table
is horizontal. When I copy info into word data in table has correct labels.

I type "T" for table, I want to copy this table info. So I shift down arrow
until I hear end of table and press control+c. I type t again and press
windows+c to append about 10 more tables using shift arrow key.
Is there a key stroke to select entire table? Some tables have 2 rows and
some have 55 or more rows. I take all this table info from a web site copy
into

word for easy reading and analysis.

George,
Pleas let me know how that goes. I work as a tax examiner for the IRS,

I've always done my own taxes, and am tired of Turdo Tax charging me for
e filing, so this year I am using the IRS forms. So far I'm reasonably
impressed.
You download pdf forms in which you can enter the data.
For help, you can go to the IRS website.
This method probably is best used by those who know how to use the IRS
forms, or be willing to spend plenty of time reading.
The up side, is, that after you do it this way for a year or two, it will
not be very difficult.

There are times when I am reading an email and as I am arrowing down, what
I

notice is that my screen reader would halt and it would stop reading.

Delete your cookies, history and temp files. You probably got a
corrupt cookie or file for that site. Do forget to check for bugs.

my computer crashes with a message saying "message from webpage

power off the computer and reboot.

Re: [JAWS-Users] tax software

2010-02-07 Thread First CRC Tom Vos
I've always done my own taxes, and am tired of Turdo Tax charging me for
e filing, so this year I am using the IRS forms. So far I'm reasonably
impressed.
You download pdf forms in which you can enter the data.
For help, you can go to the IRS website.
This method probably is best used by those who know how to use the IRS
forms, or be willing to spend plenty of time reading.
The up side, is, that after you do it this way for a year or two, it will
not be very difficult.
Blessings,
Tom

It's a program extension for Skype that announces folks as they go on
and

off line along with several other items that it updates as they
happen. Does
not work in Vista or 7 BTW.

Go to tools and options then arrow down to advanced. In there you will
find
where to allow other programs to use Skype. Although I don't know what
that
particular program is that is where I authorize SKRead.

I just installed Skype 4.1 yesterday and the most current
scripts today. All seems to be working ok but I keep getting
this dialogue box that pops up on my computer saying
"skypenames.exe" wants to use Skype. Sounds like there
are two buttons to choose from allow or deny access. Windows
firewall may be asking this? Since I'm not sure what this is
any suggestions as to what to do? Never saw this in version
3.8 This box pops up at random whether in Skype or not.

thanks
Al

I did, I wrote the list earlier.
It doesn't announce who's coming online or offline so I can't tell if

I thought that that was what it was supposed to do?
I followed all the directions, and when I restarted my computer it said
default.jsb has been updated!
If skypewatch isn't supposed to announce who's online and off, what is
it for?
