Re: [JAWS-Users] Unable to Access Web Site Log In Page

2010-05-06 Thread David
Hello Gerald;

yes, to be clear,

1, I go to the page you posted,

2, I find the "My Account link",

3, I now press the left mouse button on the Numpad, which is the
NumpadSlash.

4, I then press the letter "e", for the first edit field.
or, you can press the letter "f", again, to the first edit field,

Okay, let's be clear about this. When you say "left click", do you mean
that you r pressing the left button on your physical desktop mouse? Are you
pressing any other keys before or after you left click on "My Account"? I
tried the left click technique again with JAWS 10 and IE 8, but no luck.
However, I did discover a work around. On the site map, there is a link to
the Account Verification page which contains the user ID and Password fields
as well as a field to enter a verification code, which, fortunately, I
saved. So as long as I enter this verification code along with my user ID
and password, I can access my account information.

Using JAWS 9, when I hit enter on "MY Account", nothing happens, and I
don't get the user ID and Password edit fields. And accessing the
 Context
menu, the Forward" option is unavailable, which means that this link
 was
not activated. I wonder if the fact that I already have an accountis
somehow preventing me from activating the My Account link. Maybe I'll
try my demo version of JAWS 10 or System Access to Go to see if that
 makes any difference.

Hello there;

to find out which version of skype your running,

use the keystroke,

ctrl+insert+v

if your skype updated automatically to the latest version, you can either,

uninstall and go back to the 4.1,

or, maybe, you could try downloading the latest jaws scripts, which work
with the 4.2 version.

if you need the scripts, I could send to you,

HI

I believe I was using skype 4.1 and all was working well with scripts and
skype talking.

When I opened skype the other day I believe it updated and now no scripts
will work and I cannot make much sense out of it at all. I cannot even see
which version I am running.

It was working so well but it is barely useable now, how can I get back to
the version I was using. Should I delete it all and downnload the scripts
again?

I know a lot of people say use 3.8 but 4.1 was working really well for me

Unicode can handle all of the characters required for all of the world's

[JAWS-Users] problems with student word 2007

2 when I try to open files made in word pad, this program tries to open them

off when I am working in Word Pad?

Thanks for any help and for any direction to a tutorial on this program.

Have you tried re-installing or repairing this? What other programs did it
come with? I'm assuming Power POint, Xcel, and perhaps Outlook?
Also, what O.S. are you running it on. The reason I'm asking is that it
should be causing you any difficulties, that isn't normal behavior. You can
set it as the Default program when opening files, which would prevent any
conflicting programs.

Hi Allen;

Open an email that contains links, then press Insert / Jawskey + V for Jaws
options/verboscity, press the letter " L " for links options, and arrow down
through your links and see what they are set at. Below are how mine are
set.
Links Options
Filter Consecutive Duplicate Links - On
Graphical Links Show - All
Untagged Graphical Links Show - Image Source
Links In Image Maps Show - All
text Links show Using - Screen Text
Links Identify Type - On
Links Identify "Same Page" - On

To change the settings press the spacebar until you land on the one you want
and when you have all of your links options set you can press enter to save
and close. Hope this helps. Take care.

2010-05-06 Thread lloydfuge352
Thank you for your continued interest; yes all of those programs were
included along with the e-mail and a notebook organizer type of program.

No, I have not tried to reinstall or remedy at all. Once the word program
has opened a word pad file, it works fine. It simply has a long fight before
being able to open the word pad file. Frankly, I prefer to have access to
the word pad files without interference from word 2007 because it is so much
easier for me until I get a better grasp of the 2007 commands; I have not
used word for more than ten years and am very rusty.

You mention 'default' possibilities; that would be fine by me if I can
direct 2007 not to be the default for some time while I am engaged in the
learning curve. Melissa, I am eighty years of age, and getting up to speed
with 2007 may be a while.

It has been my experience that settings often can be fixed to make programs
more compatible with Jaws and wonder about any such possibility with 2007.

I also mentioned a possibility of finding a tutorial which might help me
understand the 'ribbon' and other features. I do have the Reference on 2007
from the Printing House but could appreciate a little more verbiage in its
approach.

Sorry to have so much to say and ask. Thanks for your thoughts, and thanks
for anything more you can add.

Have you tried re-installing or repairing this? What other programs did
it

come with? I'm assuming Power POint, Xcel, and perhaps Outlook?
Also, what O.S. are you running it on. The reason I'm asking is that it
should be causing you any difficulties, that isn't normal behavior. You
can

set it as the Default program when opening files, which would prevent any
conflicting programs.
Warmly,
Melissa

The Student Word program you purchased, is this Microsoft Word, and did
you
purchase it from Microsoft, or from somewhere else? Did it come on a

or was it a download? And was it part of the student office suite?
Just some questions to make it easier to help you.

Hi,

Recently I purchased the student Word program and am having trouble with
it.
1 are there settings which would make it easier to operate, where could I
find such suggestions?

2 when I try to open files made in word pad, this program tries to open
them
and is very slow at it; is there some way to turn this student Word
program
off when I am working in Word Pad?

Thanks for any help and for any direction to a tutorial on this program.

I am using XP, and Jaws 11.

Thanks,

Lloyd

Re: [JAWS-Users] problems with student word 2007

2010-05-06 Thread Melissa Riley
You have my genuine respect for giving it a go sir. I'll be as much help as
I can, I am a single mom and full time student going through finals, so
please be patient with any time lapses that may occurr. It isn't because I
don't want to help.
Now, What operating system are you using? I ask because that will tell me
where to direct you to find your default programs setting. In XP, I believe
it is in the All Programs menu, or it is in the control pannel. I have not
used XP for several years, so don't remember where things are exactly.
Do a little exploring, and see if you can find it.
As far as the ribbons are concerned, they are frustrating for everyone who
comes to them from the classic menu style, sighted or not. They are merely
icons in a string, so many sighted people are frustrated by them grately.
We are at somewhat of an advantage, because at least JAWS tells us what
we're looking at, it's not just some abstract picture of say, a pair of
binoculars for zooming. They are completely usable though, and many of the
old hotkeys are still functional, so finding a list of hotkeys may be of
use. I use them frequently, such as control shift P to control and
minnipulate my fonts and style.
Hope this is helpful,
Melissa

Yes, Melissa,

I have XP as my OS and am using Jaws 11. My CPU is an old HP desk model
which has served well for some years and is an old friend.

Patience, I have learned that in practicing law for 37 years and in getting
old. I will be happy for any help when you are able; of course, I recognize

I hope I have answered y;our questions and perhaps I shoould simply apply

Well, if nothing else you've made me smile. Ok, as I said, the setting
should be in the control pannel, which can be found both in the start menu
as well as the all-programs menu. Once there you should be able to set
WordPad as your default Word-Processor/editor.
I am still baffled by Word trying to open your TXT files, but perhaps if
your system is quite old and a bit sluggish in general, that may be the
Occam's Razor, so to speak.
Let me know what you find my friend, and we'll go from there.

Hey, this almost worked.
When I performed this sequence, it only worked temporarily.
Immediately, the list was in alphabetical order, but, after closing H J pad
and re-opening, it went back to upside down order.

I have found arrange icons and when I open that, there is no option for
ascending or descending.
I have tried clicking on all of the possible options.
