Re: [JAWS-Users] Moving Jaws Dictionary items

2010-06-03 Thread Brian Lee
Hello Dixie,

This morning I got it to work the way I thought it should work. I went into
the "explore my settings" choice for JAWS 11 and changed Microsoft Outlook
2007.JDF to Microsoft Outlook 2007.JDFOLD. I then took Outlook Express.JDF
from the JAWS 9 explore my settings area, copied it, pasted it to clipboard,
and renamed it as Microsoft Outlook 2007.JDF. Next, I copied the Microsoft
Outlook 2007.JDF from the desktop and pasted it in the "explore my settings"
area for JAWS 11. When I opened Outlook 2007 and launched the dictionary
manager the new file had all the entries I expected. I think what was
happening before was that I tried replacing the Microsoft Outlook 2007.JDF
in the "explore my settings" with the Outlook Express.JDF from the "explore
shared settings." I have deleted the change and repeated the steps two or
three times this morning and the procedure worked each time.

Take care.

Hello Dixie,

I am starting to feel terrible! I tried my own steps today and they didn't
work! There must be something in the JAWS scripts that are preventing the
normal Windows functions that I suggested. I have done the steps I
suggested many times in the past with different programs and never had a
problem. It doesn't appear to be a permissions problem as I have my
permissions giving full control and I am showing as the owner of the folder.
I even tried opening the JDF file in Notepad, copying the text and then
pasting it in the other JDF file but when I closed it and saved it, the
changes I made were gone after I opened the target JDF file again.

I really apologize. I thought I had done this yesterday but apparently not.
I'll continue to investigate this and welcome any comments or suggestions
from other users.

Hi Dixie,

If you didn't use Microsoft Outlook 2007 when using JAWS 10 then the merge
of the Outlook Express dictionary file would have no effect for the new
program you are using. The Outlook express dictionary entries would be
merged with the Outlook Express dictionary entries in JAWS 11 but not in the

Outlook express dictionary file then you might want to go through the
copying, renaming and replacing procedure that I talked about in the

in the new Microsoft Outlook 2007 dictionary file.

Yes, Mike, I am subscribed to Blind Computing. I brought the problem here
first, because I still think it is a JAWS problem. Anyway, here it goes. I
have Outlook 2003, using JAWS 11 current build, Windows XP SP3. Okay. I
hit control 2 to get to the calendar. Then I hit control G to go to date.
Type my date and tab to okay. In this instance, my date was Saturday, June
5, 2010. After I hit okay, JAWS freezes. I can see enough to tell you that
Outlook will close, but I cannot even unload or reload JAWS -- just no
speech. I did a JAWS repair, and that did nothing. Any assistance would be
appreciated.

Don't cry because its over; smile because it happened.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Outlook 2003

2010-06-03 Thread Loren Schoof
I went through almost the same experience this morning. I was in Outlook 2003,
I hit control 2, JAWS began to read the calendar then froze. I spent an hour
and a half with our help desk--repairing Outlook didn't help.
FreedomScientific had heard nothing of this problem.
I gave up for several hours. when I started Outlook again about 4 hours later,
the calendar worked fine. I think my company was having problems with their MS
Exchange server. I would recommend trying again tomorrow. One suggestion from
FreedomScientific that may help diagnose the problem is to force JAWS to shut
down with the JAWS+WINDOWS+F4 key combination. (It was described in a post on
this blog earlier) This will create a dump file you can send to them for
analysis.
Good luck.
