Jose, You can download Jaws again from the web site.
www.freedomscientific.com
Go to the Jaws section and the download link, will be there. The only thing
you'll need to provide, is your Jaws User number.

Good luck!

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS Behaving Sluggishly On Google Home Page

2010-07-05 Thread wayne smith
I have experienced the same behavior in Outlook 2007 and in text docs. For
reasons I cannot understand. I can be either typing or reading and,
suddenly, everything goes silent. I have learned to wait it out and it
stops. I was guessing that there was something happening with the program
or with some aspect of program or virus scanning that I could not know was
happening because it was visual.

Happy Indepencdence Day to all! This morning, for no apparent reason, JAWS
9 started behaving very sluggishly on my classic Google home page. When I
type a search phrase into the search edit field, there is a delay between
the time I type each character and the time JAWS echoes it; JAWS does not
echo each character instantly as it is typed. Also, there is a considerable
lag between the time I hit the Enter key and the time JAWS announces
"Enter". Yet, when I switch to the IGoogle home page, JAWS behaves
normally. I am using IE 8 with XP Pro, and have not changed any settings.
Why would JAWS work fine with IGoogle but not with classic Google? Has
anyone else encountered this problem? Thanks.

[JAWS-Users] Goldwave users

2010-07-05 Thread wayne smith
Hello-

I am a new Goldwave user. Jaws 11 seems to work with it but I keep running
into a sequence problem. For example, I figured out how to burn some sound
files on my C-drive but as I go through the Goldwave steps to burn the CD
everything makes sense until the point of actually instructing the program
to do the burn. I press the "Next" button that should get me to the burn
point and everything stops and goes back to the folder list. Is JAWS
missing something?

The same thing happens when I try to convert a group of sound files as a
batch. The process progresses to near the end and then there is no place to
instruct the program to complete the process. This pattern leads me to
think that Jaws is missing something. Any help would be appreciated. I am
using Windows 7 Ultimate, 64bit.

Thanks in advance-

Go to your Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel.
When you get the Avast item from the listbox, select Remove.

Now from this point on, Avast uses the logic that no sane person other
than a malware would choose to remove it. So it displays a countdown
timer with the question: "Are you sure you would like to remove
Avast?" (n=30...)
Unfortunately, this message seems not to be accessible using JAWS in
this latest Avast edition, so you must use the JAWS cursor.
Place your cursor on the Yes part of it and simulate a left mouse
button click to dismiss the message before the end of 30 seconds. If
you are slow, it will tell you that uninstallation couldn't complete
due to an error.

Right now I prefer Microsoft Essentials or Eset Nod32 which I find
their interfaces accesible.

Wish you the best.

[JAWS-Users] Jaws and Windows Live Mail

2010-07-05 Thread Liz Botner
Hi all,

I just recently installed Windows Live mail to use as an email client.
Everything works beautifully, except that when I go into a message list, Jaws
isn't reading the 'unread' status before reading the other details of an email
message. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not sure if it's a known bug, or
if something isn't set right within the settings of Jaws itself. Any help here
is greatly appreciated.

Take care, and feel free to write me off list.

Thanks,

Liz

[JAWS-Users] Arrowing and looking at the file/folder search results. RE: Jaws guide to Windows Explorer on Windows 7

2010-07-05 Thread Dujari, Prateek
Hello.

Thx much for this effort and guide. while I can land on the search box within
Explorer in Windows7 and type up part of file name and hit enter to search my
PC hard drive, I just cant figure out what to hit next to be able to arrow down
the list of results, find the folder path for each of the results and then open
them up. Easy in Win XP and still don't know in Win7. Do you know the JAWS11
keystrokes once the search is done to do this?,

Re: [JAWS-Users] Avast and Jaws

2010-07-05 Thread Ishe Chinyoka

Hi,
I once experienced frustration with Avast in the same way: but you can't
delete it from the Explorer.

Go to your Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel.
When you get the Avast item from the listbox, select Remove.

Now from this point on, Avast uses the logic that no sane person other than
a malware would choose to remove it. So it displays a countdown timer with
the question: "Are you sure you would like to remove Avast?" (n=30...)
Unfortunately, this message seems not to be accessible using JAWS in this
latest Avast edition, so you must use the JAWS cursor.
Place your cursor on the Yes part of it and simulate a left mouse button
click to dismiss the message before the end of 30 seconds. If you are slow,
it will tell you that uninstallation couldn't complete due to an error.

Right now I prefer Microsoft Essentials or Eset Nod32 which I find their
interfaces accesible.

Wish you the best.

Place the cursor to the starting point and press F8. Move to the end

using your arrow keys. as you move your arrow key, selection will be
made.

after satisfied that you've selected enough chunk of text, you can then
press the copy key (CTRL+C).

Do a right click if you find it and see if there is a un install on the

If you can tell them what lights are on/off in an order, let's say from

supposed to be On/off and what their colors should be, it is probably a

Yes, you can with a good light probe. Flickering causes a warbling rather
than a high-pitched tone when the light is on. This is provided you have a
probe with a shield around the light detecting diode.

with
our Internet Provider when I needed to know what lights, are or are

not,

lit
on the modem and not having someone sighted around to tell me so I

could

tell the IP tech support person. Without my service working

correctly it

renders Jaws useless with trying to use many programs and functions

of

the
computer. I thought that this little tip could help people keep Jaws
working more efficiently and have less frustrations in using Jaws in
their
everyday lives. You see, if I lay on Doctor Phil's couch long enough

I

can
relate anything to using Jaws! LOL Hope this helps clear up my
convoluted
ways of thinking! LOL Take care.

Mike,
This isn't Jaws related, but thanks for the info just the same.

Hi All;

Here is a tip I ran across on another list that I thought might come

in

handy for a lot of us.

Dealing with lights on your router, modem or other device.

hi folks, thought of this a while back, and then saw this post and
realized
I was right, it will work, so passed it along! elf - Original

For Lisa and others who may be concerned with knowing the status of
indicator lights on a router or modem, I can determine which lights

are

on,
off, or blinking with a light probe. Independent Living aids has

one

for
twenty-three dollars and change. They work well for a number of

things.

I
use my probe to tell me about the lights on various cooking devices

such

as
a rice cooker, foreman grill, and many other things. It will find

lights

on
those little cube shaped power supplies that plug into the wall;

the

blinking light on the victor stream; the light on the computer
speakers;
and a host of other things I can't bring to mind just now. Just a
thought.

Try Real Alternative. This allows you to play realmedia files, without
RealPlayer.
