Re: [JAWS-Users] Dec-Talk Express

2010-09-06 Thread TJ McElroy gMail
Hello Marilyn,

Dec-Talk Express is an external voice synthesizer.

Back in the day, before screen reading programs like Jaws were able to use
the computers sound card for use with software voice synthesizers, an external
voice synthesizer like Dec-Talk Express or Double Talk ( another external voice
synthesizer ) were the only way to go.

There were also internal voice synthesizers, a card that was added to the
inside of the computer, but an external synthesizer allows you to be able to
have voice on more than one computer.

HTH,

TJ

Hi Jose.
Like all previous versions you can choose not to run JAWS at startup.
You do this in the same place; Basic Settings. In XP it's a check box;
in Vista it's slightly more involved and it's a button that opens a
dialogue box.

Hope this helps.

Hello Francis,

I have pasted a link below, which should give you the latest version of
CCleaner. There is a "check for updates" button in the CCleaner interface
window that can be used periodically to check for any new updates.
However,

you might find it easier when checking to go to www.filehippo.com and
download the latest version of the program. When on the File Hippo page
there will be a link to CCleaner. It is usually under the "popular
downloads" heading. Follow that link and on the subsequent page there
will

be a "download latest version" link that you can use. If the information
bar pops up use Alt+N to move focus to it and then use the application key
to invoke a context menu. Use down arrow key to the "download file"
choice
and press enter key. You can then choose to save the file by using the
save
button and start the downloading process. Here is a direct link to the
file

in my drop box:

Hello Kliph,

Have you installed version 2.32? The reason I am asking is that I had

version 2.29 and the item state was not being read to me. I started to

write a script but then I decided to download version 2.32 and the item

state is now being read by JAWS. If you use the JAWS cursor, the graphic

793 by an item indicates that it is checked and 792 indicates that it is

not

checked. You can move to the graphics with the JAWS cursor and use the

graphics labeler. Label 793 as "checked" and 792 as "unchecked." I
found

that using the invisible cursor with the up and down keys spoke the state

after labeling, but of course, you would have to put PC cursor back on

before changing the state of the item. Again, a simple script could be

used

to have JAWS speak the item state using the PC cursor, but if you don't

have

version 2.32 then I suggest you try updating to that version first.

Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws and C cleaner?

2010-09-06 Thread Brian Lee
Hello Dale,

I don't use CCleaner to remove my cookies. In the CCleaner interface
window, you will find a list of items to check or uncheck. You likely want
to remove the checkmark from the cookies choice. Using Internet Explorer,
you can delete all cookies except those used by your favorite web sites.
You likely want to save the bank site in your favorites. When the bank site
is saved as a favorite, you can then use CTRL+Shift+delete key when in
Internet Explorer to bring up the "delete browsing history" dialog box.
Focus should be on the checkbox for preserving favorite web site data. If
you have it checked, you can also check the checkbox for cookies to be
removed and go ahead with the deletion process. Malicious cookies should be
taken care of with anti-spyware programs.

Take care my fellow alumnus of the OSB.

[JAWS-Users] chatter from prior webpages with jfw

2010-09-06 Thread CrisMunoz54
Hello list,

Is anyone getting the following from within Firefox?

With Jfw 11 and still with the recently released beta version, I often get
chatter from previously visited webpages. Sometimes even Jaws will navegate
an old page even after I've moved on to a new one. I don’t' get this
behavior with IE8 and don’t' recall it happening with JFW 10 and lower. Is
it perhaps a screen resolution issue that I'm not aware of or is it in fact
a Jaws bug?

I'm using an xp pro machine with the latest Firefox (also present in older
Mozilla versions) and again, the JFW 12 beta.

Thanks...

On this particular system, the problem started occurring just after the
install of Win7. I had allready activate several applications, so
reinstalling wasn't an option. I'm wondering if we're not dealing with
a hardware issue on that particular system because there were some
similar problems including Windows Explorer crashes when Vista was
installed. The problem was not carried over from Vista, however.
Windows 7 was installed on a brand new hard drive. When Wind 7 crashes
and I press Alt F$ to close the window, it says it is trying to find a
solution to the problem, but it never does really find anything, and it
doesn't tell me that either.

[JAWS-Users] Virtual Ribbon menus

2010-09-06 Thread Derek Czuy
Hello list members:

My friend has two computers, a laptop and a desktop. They both have Windows
7 on them. His laptop has a 64 bit version of Windows and his desktop has a
32 bit version. He is using the respective versions of the JAWS 12 beta on
each computer.

In Microsoft Word 2007, the Virtual Ribbon menus work as expected on his
laptop, but not on his desktop. On his desktop, when he presses the Alt key,
he lands on the bottom part of the Virtual Ribbon Menus instead of the top.
For example, he gets Save submenu, Can't Undo submenu, Can't Repeat submenu
and Menu Commands submenu. Why are the 64 bit and 32 bit versions of the
JAWS 12 beta behaving differently? Can my friend do something so that the
Virtual Menus act the way they should on his desktop? Thanks.

I have had this problem for almost a week now, and I'm about to throw my

I'm not even sure what Bonjour has to do with burning. That's used more for
sharing libraries and such across a local network. what version are you on
of Itunes? V10? god help you if so! I updated to that version and ever
sense, things have gone kur, effity over here. I frankly hate! the new
Itunes V10. for one, the windows are seemed to be classed incorrectly. I
didn't say that they don't read, they do, but just not as expected, thus, it
makes it harder to know where you're focused, plus, the fact that jaws seems
to lose focus very very very easily in this version making me have to tab
and back tab until I figure out where the prisoning heck! I am. I can't
even hit shift F10, nor application's key on something in my sources list,
like before, which btw, jfw reads as a list view instead of a tree view like
it really is.

Wait ago! Apple? Real nice way to bird out an update! Yaaay!

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Jaws version 10 and AIM

Hi all,

What is the latest version of AIM that can be used with Jaws version 10? A
friend recently upgraded to the latest AIM version that supports Facebook
Chat and is having issues navigating her buddy list. I went onto her
computer via Tandem and verified this. I'm thinking it isn't compatible,
but

I wondered if anyone had been successful with such a configuration.

Thanks, and take care,

Liz

Hello; Listers, Is this true? Does JAWS 12 have a facebook
connector? If so how do you use it?

[JAWS-Users] External Hard Drive Question

2010-09-06 Thread Donnie Parrett
One of my external hard drives has quit working. When I unplug the USB cord,
it lights up for just
about 30 seconds and then it quits again. Is there any way I can get the stuff
I have on it off
before it completely quits working. I can't even open it at this point.

Thanks,
Donnie

Have a great day, unless you have made other plans.
