[JAWS-Users] Accessing RSS Feeds list in IE9

2010-12-28 Thread Stuart Deadman
Hi Listers,
I have recently installed IE9 beta and have noticed that the keystroke
control J no longer displays the list of RSS Feeds. Does anyone know if
there is an alternative keystroke to do this?

Thanks in advance

You can only enable voice over on the 4th gen iPod Touches. The third
genn you have to down load it to the iPod and then enable it.
A look at the apple page can give you more info on the iPod you have at
hand, because each one and size is limited in voice over features.

So far I have managed to install iTunes, got the QuickTime installed and

Hello Janie,

Here is a link for some Office 2010 keystroke lists:

http://www.microsoft.com/enable/products/office2010/default.aspx

Press H until you get to the heading Keyboard shortcuts for Office 2010
products. Use down arrow key and you will find a list of links for Access
2010,

Excel 2010, Outlook 2010, PowerPoint 2010, Project 2010 and Word 2010. You
can get to the tables of keystrokes for the program you want by following
the appropriate link.

After pressing enter on one of the links and when the resulting page loads,
press the number 1 and arrow down a few lines to the show all link and
press enter key. You can then use T for moving table to table. Use up
arrow two or three times from the top of each table to find out what the
table contains.

Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] iPod Touch; Can I enable voiceover from iTunes?

2010-12-28 Thread Dale Leavens
It started as a question about iTunes and Jaws and options which were
apparently not there but turned out not to be there because iTunes
recognized the equipment did not support those options. I initiated the
thread full in the knowledge that Jaws is not the screen reader of choice
for accessing that application but without an alternative method of access
and fully cognitive of the sensitivity of the moderators to any suggestion
that Jaws may be wanting in any aspect of performance. Many of us have
invested thousands of dollars in Jaws versions over the years and appreciate
the technical support of other Jaws users provided by such a list which in
this case included a link to a podcast, the first part of which was very
helpful in orienting me to the use of Jaws with iTunes, a resource I would
otherwise been unaware of.

I regret drawing the scrutiny of the moderators to any of those who were so
helpful to me in achieving my goals around the use of Jaws and iTunes and
the subsequent information about those devices appropriate to it's use.

Please accept my responsibility for the transgression and the offense to the
List's sensibilities. I probably should have known better.

Re: [JAWS-Users] iPod Touch; Can I enable voiceover from iTunes?

2010-12-28 Thread Dale Leavens
Actually, once I understood some of the access issues even Jaws 9 doesn't do
badly. Something has the bad habit of forcing focus to a list of songs from
somewhere and keeping focus on sources requires patience and tenacity but it
is manageable once you understand what it is supposed to do. Getting it to
do it is a bit challenging. I didn't try the Apple shop though.

In fairness, iTunes isn't all that nice to sighted people either. My son has
had a Shuffle for probably 5 years now and didn't realize that it is
possible to set iTunes not to launch every time he plugs into his Mac to
charge the player. Mind you, his version of iTunes is quite a bit older and
may not have that facility.

Off topic, I have given him the iTouch, lack of Voiceover capability doesn't
hinder him any.

You can only enable voice over on the 4th gen iPod Touches. The third
genn you have to down load it to the iPod and then enable it.
A look at the apple page can give you more info on the iPod you have
at hand, because each one and size is limited in voice over features.

So far I have managed to install iTunes, got the QuickTime installed

discovered how to enable the Voiceover.

Can anyone help?

It started as a question about iTunes and Jaws and options which were
apparently not there but turned out not to be there because iTunes
recognized the equipment did not support those options. I initiated the
thread full in the knowledge that Jaws is not the screen reader of choice
for accessing that application but without an alternative method of
access and fully cognitive of the sensitivity of the moderators to any
suggestion that Jaws may be wanting in any aspect of performance. Many of
us have invested thousands of dollars in Jaws versions over the years and
appreciate the technical support of other Jaws users provided by such a
list which in this case included a link to a podcast, the first part of
which was very helpful in orienting me to the use of Jaws with iTunes, a
resource I would otherwise been unaware of.

I regret drawing the scrutiny of the moderators to any of those who were
so helpful to me in achieving my goals around the use of Jaws and iTunes
and the subsequent information about those devices appropriate to it's
use.

Please accept my responsibility for the transgression and the offense to
the List's sensibilities. I probably should have known better.

[JAWS-Users] Working with MS Office 2010 Professional

2010-12-28 Thread Mark Torgerson

Hi
recently, I found a good deal on MS Office 2010 Professional. I bought

one work with MS Office 2010 Professional. When I moved to MS office 2007
there were so many changes I didn't know what to make of it. Does anyone
know what I am up against in the 2010 addition? Is JAWS 12, MS Office 2010
compatible?

Re: [JAWS-Users] New MSE and jaws

2010-12-28 Thread tim

yep, its a false positive, and here is why,
; If FirewallCheck is set to 1, JAWS will attempt to check if a firewall
; application is running by prematurely triggering the firewall when
; JAWS starts. This setting is off by default and is ignored when JAWS
; is set to run at Windows startup.
FirewallCheck=0
Now you will find that line at the start of the jaws.ini file.
not always, but sometimes jaws will activate it without being told.
have had it done with every version and just about every firewall and
virus checker out there.

Its useless code and just creates more junk to clutter up the ram as it is!
here is a idea for jaws, how about a key function or auto function
that pulls the used parts of scripts out of ram. Like when the
program is closed, so is the script for it.
Junking up the ram just slows down the machine and makes video
aspects disappear. Witch makes jaws sluggish or just lock up for reboot of op.

IE 9 works great with JFW12.
I have it installed with the 40 minut mode because I have a license for JFW
11.

2010-12-28 Thread Cornell Ligon

keep in mind, it's a beta, which is usually recommended for advance computer
users or IT pros. I'm using it effectively with minimum problems: too many
blank lines announced with JFW 12 and combo box issues. Also, using Win 7 Home
Premium 35 bit OS and JFW 12 Professional.

HTH!
Best Regards, Cornell

[JAWS-Users] FS Openbook

2010-12-28 Thread wayne smith
Hello-

I am just looking for a list for Openbook that is like this one. I have
Openbook 8 and it is the most unstable program I have ever tried to use. It
doesn't even have the ability to update it in the Help menus. It locks up
my computer more often than a bank gets locked up and it scans bucks as well
as cabbage makes for good steaks. Where do I go? Calling FS tech
support(?) has been of absolutely no use. I have used this program for many
years and I am looking for my Openbook 7 disk (if it will work with 64bit).

Are you holding down the Alt key as you open the Combo box?
